  • Patent number: 7058821
Abstract: An intrusion detection system detects and takes appropriate action against intrusion attacks on packets transmitted on a network. Various conditions for the intrusion attacks are described in the form of a rule tree. The intrusion detection system employs a pipelined structure including a plurality of modules, and parts of the rule are assigned to the modules. The modules determine in a pipelined manner whether the conditions of an intrusion attack are satisfied. In an intrusion attack on the packet is detected, the intrusion detection system takes appropriate action against the determined intrusion attack.

  • Patent number: 7053843
Abstract: A multi-band antenna system for a portable communications device (e.g. a PC Card wireless modem) is disclosed. The multi-band antenna system comprises a dipole antenna, a reactive circuit, and transmission means coupled between the reactive circuit and the dipole antenna. For signals having frequencies within a first frequency band (e.g. the CDMA 0.86 GHz band), the reactive circuit operates as a trap, i.e. as a substantially high impedance, which enables a radiation impedance of a monopole formed by the presence of the trap to be coupled directly into the feed system (e.g. a diplexer) of the antenna system. The dipole antenna is configured and dimensioned to receive signals within a second frequency band (e.g. the PCS 1.92 GHz band). Second frequency band signals received by the dipole antenna are conducted through the signal conductor of the transmission means to the feed system substantially unimpeded by the reactive circuit.

  • Patent number: 7054388
Abstract: Signal detection having superior resistance with respect to feature distortions is realized. Reference and input feature time-series signals, each consisting of feature vectors, are respectively obtained from reference and input time-series signals. The reference and input feature time-series signals are respectively converted into reference and input coded time-series signals, each consisting of codes indicating classifications. A distortion is added to at least one signal of the reference and input time-series signals, the reference and input feature time-series signals, and the reference and input coded time-series signals. The degree of similarity between the reference time-series signal and a collation portion determined in the input coded time-series signal is calculated based on their histograms.

  • Patent number: 7050515
Abstract: A control word generator comprised of circuitry to generate a control word to control an attenuator. The control word generator includes a counter that increments at a clock rate much higher than the refresh rate at which the error signal is recalculated. The counter is controlled by a comparator which compares the error signal to a reference value, which, starting from a programmable upper limited is decremented in the counter's incrementation rate by a programmable step size. When the reference value equals the error signal, the comparator changes state and the counter stops incrementing. The count at that time is the control word, which if everything operated instantaneously, would be the control word that would alter the attenuation sufficiently to achieve nominal power.

  • Patent number: 7049964
Abstract: RFID readers exchange information with RFID tags. The information is encoded for transmission and decoded upon reception. Encoding is in binary bits, which are in turn encoded in waveform segments. The last transmitted waveform incorporates an ending-triggering transition, and terminates in a preset manner with respect to when the ending-triggering transition occurs. Parsing while decoding can happen by waiting for the ending-triggering transition, and then waiting according to the preset manner. This way there is no ambiguity in the ending of the waveform, and no End Frame is necessary.

  • Patent number: 7044507
Abstract: The system permits two tubular parts (1, 2) to be assembled, the assembly being able to be locked or released, without a cumbersome device being required. It includes in particular a toothed crown (10, 20) on each of the two tubular parts (1, 2), each with a series of teeth (11, 21) disposing of straight radial shoulders (12) on the first toothed crown and angled shoulders (22) on the second toothed crown. This assembly is completed by a locking ring (30) disposing of teeth (31) designed to fit between the shoulders (12, 22) of the two crowns, once they have interlocked. Turning the locking ring (30) allows, using the angled locking faces (33) of the teeth (31), the two tubular parts (1, 2) to be locked together. A locating ring (40) may be used to center the parts and receive the shear loads due to a transversal mechanical change. The system may be applied for large tubular part assemblies that need to be dismantled.

  • Patent number: 7047289
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting data modifications in MIB tables utilizes a network device having a table registrar, a notification controller, a table modification recorder and a row modification recorder. A Network Management System (NMS) registers a table to be monitored with the table registrar and enables the notification controller when observation of change notifications is desired. With the assistance of a modification count and a timestamp from the table modification recorder, the NMS can determine whether a modified row should be retrieved from the row modification recorder to find data that has been modified since the last poll.

  • Patent number: 7043553
Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting secured files stored on a file system employs a file security status associated with each file to signal whether or not access to the file is allowed. The file security status is stored in a fixed location in memory. Upon opening the associated file, the file security status is copied to a second location in memory. Depending upon the file security status stored in the second location, operations on the file by a client are either allowed or denied. Operations on non-secure files are always allowed. Operations on secured files are allowed only after verification of the client's authorization to access the file and the subsequent modification of the file security status stored in the second memory location. The method protects secured files from deletion by unauthorized clients. This is accomplished by, upon opening a secure file, initializing a third memory location to a value indicating that the file will not be deleted upon closing.
