Abstract: A device for placing and removing of a soft contact lens from the eye utilizing a tip for presenting one side of a soft contact lens in a shape configuration to allow placement on the eye. The tip holds the soft contact lens against the pull of gravity, but releases the lens when the other side of the lens contacts the eye, producing a surface tension. A handle connects to the tip permitting the hand to manipulate the tip and the lens thereupon.
Abstract: A runaway binding device for a ski utilizing strap means for substantially surrounding the leg of the user. The first and second ends of the strap means secures to latch means, the first end being freed upon exertion of pressure on an ear portion of the latch means. Connecting means holds the strap means and attached latch means to the ski.
Abstract: Circuit for triggering an electrical signal for actuation of an electrical mechanism. The circuit includes a switch means for producing an electrical pulse and a means for reversing the current flow upon receipt of such electrical pulse both connected in series. Direction of flow of the current indicates either a closed circuit or readiness for triggering an electrical signal upon a circuit break.
Abstract: A high pressure positive displacement gradient pump for two flowable materials utilizing two reciprocating pistons with the pair of pistons pumping in an overlapping reasonably pulse free manner. The gradient of the two flowable materials is created by adjustment of the stroke of each piston. Streams for the pair of pistons are combined and mixed in a mixing chamber. A third pair of pistons may deliver the mixed stream at high pressure to the desired location.
Abstract: A fastening device for the connection of two bodies having aligned openings therein utilizing two members having facing inclined surfaces and projections engaging the lip of an opening such that an impact force creates a wedging action resulting in firmly securing the two bodies.
Abstract: An expansion-contraction joint for coupling a pair of relatively movable members separated transversely one from the other. The joint accommodates limited relative displacements of such members of a type that may be induced by thermal changes therein, seismic disturbances, shifting of certain underlying soils owing to changes in the moisture content thereof, etc. A typical environmental use for the joint is between adjacent concrete pads such as those forming the plaza about a multiple-story building, and those forming the floor surfaces of relatively long or sprawling buildings. The joint includes a plurality of elongated, longitudinally extending runners that are transversely spaced and have resilient pads interposed therebetween to which they are bonded to form a self-sustaining sandwich-type integer therewith and includes a sealant layer interposed therebetween on top of the transversely spaced resilient pads.
Abstract: A handle-rung module adapted to be secured to a mounting surface to provide a handle and/or rung which is recessed and substantially flush with the mounting surface, the module is installed in a rectangular aperture in the mounting surface and is constructed to retain a closed surface when secured in the mounting surface, the module includes a longitudinally extending inwardly projecting segment having the arcuate contour of a longitudinal segment of a cylinder wall, with end walls contoured and connected to the ends of the inwardly projecting segment, and a longitudinally extending cross member centrally spanning the inwardly projecting segment and connected to the end walls, the cross member being adapted to provide a grip or step and the inwardly projecting segment being adapted to provide a recess for receiving the knuckles of a clenched hand or the end of a foot.
Abstract: A tape dispenser for use with a conventional tape roll, the tape dispenser has a finger grip piece insertable within the core of tape roll and a cover piece pivotally engageable with the holding piece for adjustably encompassing part of the periphery of the tape roll, the cover piece is contoured to be gripped with the holding piece to position the cover piece against the periphery of the tape roll for dispensing tape pulled from the roll at a controlled tension, and, the cover piece includes a projecting dispensing end with a tape guide and cutting edge for guiding and severing tape pulled from the tape roll.
Abstract: An article bag for convenient storage of articles such as magazines, writing materials, games, and the like, the bag is formed of two washable cloth flaps supported in saddle fashion over a bed rail, the flaps have a plurality of storage pockets or compartments and include fasteners for fastening the flaps of the bag together to maintain a narrow profile by the interfastening of the flaps, the article bag is constructed to allow convenient bedside access to articles in the compartments on each side of the bag.
Abstract: A floating wharf structure has a plurality of adjacent arranged interconnected float units, each float unit comprising an enclosed substantially rectangular shell structure. A device for interconnecting the float units comprises flange structures projecting from the sides of the float units having horizontal top and bottom mounting surfaces which cooperate with upper and lower stringers mounted respectively against the top and bottom mounting surfaces of the flange structures. These stringers extend longitudinally along a portion of the flange structures of at least two adjacent float units. Fastening devices vertically extend through said flange structures and the upper and lower stringers for securing upper stringers, flange structures and lower stringers together in compression.
