  • Patent number: 6103834
Abstract: A process for co-polymerizing unsaturated vegetable oils or fatty acids utilizing the steps of mixing the unsaturated vegetable oil or fatty acid with maleic anhydride in a container. Simultaneously, inert gas is added to the container to provide an oxygen free environment within the container. A sufficient amount of initiator is added to the mixture in the container to produce free radicals for the co-polymerization of the vegetable oil with this fatty acid or the maleic anhydride.

  • Patent number: 6088514
Abstract: A system for obtaining environmental data such as temperature, pressure, humidity, and the like which utilizes a data acquisition sensor. In the case of obtaining temperature data, the sensor may be in the form of a thermistor which measures a particular temperature value and generates a signal representing the same. A microprocessing unit receives the signal from the data acquisition device and sends the same to an erasable memory unit. A data collection computer receives the value signal directly from the erasable memory unit, since access to the erasable memory unit by the microprocessor is shielded. The data collection computer can communicate directly with the erasable memory without the need for generating a prior art RS-232 protocol.

  • Patent number: 6062092
Abstract: A system for extracting samples from a stream in a conduit utilizing a probe, placed in the stream and having a channel for passing samples from the conduit stream. First and second pressure taps measure the pressure inside and outside the probe. A feedback signal, based on a pressure differential relative to the probe, is generated and controls a valve regulating sample velocity flow through the probe channel, that bears a fixed proportion to the velocity of flow in the conduit. The constant of proportionality between flow velocities in the conduit and the probe may be 1.0, resulting in an isokinetic sampling condition.

  • Patent number: 6050038
Abstract: A foundation structure for supporting a superstructure utilizing a first block and a second block, with a third block disposed between the first and second blocks. Each block includes a top, bottom, and sidewall portion, as well as an interlocking mechanism. At least one chase extends through each of the blocks. The chases are alignable with one another to permit use of an elongated member such as a rod or wire rope which passes through all of the blocks when they are placed in side-by-side orientation. The elongated members are tensioned, causing compression of the blocks into a foundation unit with a contiguous top surface. A superstructure is supported to the top surface of the foundation unit.

  • Patent number: 6033093
Abstract: A lighting device employing a source of light which emanates to a first reflector which is positioned outwardly from such source. A second reflector at least partially surrounds the light source and is formed in spaced relationship with the first reflector to create a first gap between the first and second reflectors. The second reflector includes an opening which permits light from the source to pass to the first reflector and outwardly from the lighting device through the first gap. A light interacting element is formed outwardly from the source and is spaced from the second reflector to form a second gap. The second reflector is, thus, positioned between the first reflector and the light interacting element. Light interacting element further receives light from the source and either reflects or diffuses light outwardly from the lighting device.

  • Patent number: 6024272
Abstract: An alignment mechanism for replacement of a hub to a torque converter in order to weld the same utilizing a rotatable base member. A vice is employed and is supported by the base member. The vice has a plurality of jaws each including a multiplicity of flat surfaces. A particular flat surface of one particular jaw is co-planar with a flat surface of another jaw such that a torque converter impeller placed on the vice jaws would lie a plane. A shaft extends outwardly from the base member and lies on an axis that is perpendicular to any of the jaw flat surfaces or the planes formed by such flat surfaces. The shaft also passes through the hub and the torque converter impeller. The hub is held to the torque converter impeller when the welding process takes place.
