Abstract: An EIAJ-2, video tape recorder and reproducer machine having broadcast quality response characteristics achieved through the use of a wide band direct type FM modulator for encoding a video signal for recording onto a video tape, a pair of record/playback heads carried by a rotating drum which is partially wrapped by a length of the video tape which is transported past the drum such that the heads scan the tape in helical fashion, the speed of the drum being such that each head records upon a respective track of the video tape a segment of the modulated video signal which correspond to 1/3 of a field of the video signal, an FM demodulator for decoding the frequency modulated video signal which is recovered during playback, circuits for synchronizing the speed of the drum with the synchronization pulses of the video signal and for controlling the speed with which the tape is transported pass the drum and circuitry for minimizing distortion of the video signal caused when the segmented portions of the video sig
Abstract: An improved tape cartridge having two tape packs mounted for rotation in a housing; an endless elastic belt mounted about a first and second roller to engage the tape packs on their periphery; said first roller rotatable about a stationary axis; said second roller being a floating belt-guide roller urged by the tension of the belt against the two tape packs with the belt squeezed between each pack and said first roller, said floating belt-guide roller having a draft on the outer surface to form a frusto-conical shape; means for driving said belt whereby as said belt is driven the belt tends to climb to the high side of the floating roller urging the central hub of the floating belt-guide roller to point contact with the base plate of the housing.
Abstract: A photodetector timer network for controlling the timing of application of electrical power to an electrical load responsive to ambient light conditions and including photodetector means for detecting the ambient light and generating a detector signal responsive thereto, means responsive to the detector signal for controlling electrical power from an external electrical source to an external electrical load and means for interrupting the electrical power to the electrical load at certain time intervals.
Abstract: An improved process for cleaning internal combustion cylinders including disconnecting the ignition mechanisms of preselected cylinders, introducing a combustible cleaning solvent mixture into the fuel intake, running the engine for a period of time, then repeating the process until each cylinder has been treated while its associated ignition mechanism is inoperative and finally running the engine to combust and exhaust all of the cleaning solvent mixture.
Abstract: An integral vacuum-sealed gas-bearing assembly comprising a combination of gas-bearing elements and vacuum plenums such that a gas seal is maintained across the bearing separating two assemblies to allow one assembly to be moved relative to the other in finite increments while maintaining an internal vacuum environment.

Abstract: A fastener assembly for mounting and securing two structural members in abutting relationship with each other. The assembly includes a planar unitary anchor member of a substantially "P" shape and wherein one of the structural members to be assembled has a notch comprising a pair of intersecting perpendicular slots to form a substantial T-shaped pattern about an edge of said structural member with the anchor member pressfit into one of said slots with the planar surface of the anchor member normal to the planar surfaces of the structure member and normal to said other slot of said notch; and a locking pin member for engaging a second structure member and including locking means for locking the pin to the anchor member.
Abstract: A telephone call restricting apparatus for preventing toll calls and including circuitry for sequentially decoding the signals representing each digit of a telephone number, storing the first seven decoded digit signals in binary and converting the stored signals into decimal number signals, a comparator for comparing the decimal number signals corresponding to the appropriate digits of the telephone number with permissable local central exchange digits stored in a programmed memory device, a 90 detector and 0/1 detector for detecting long distance calls, an 800 detector and a 555 detector for detecting toll free long distance calls and logic responsive to both the comparator and the detectors and operative to abort unapproved toll calls.

Abstract: A read only memory character generator system for generating dot print characters of a given font within a nine-column-by-nine-row dot matrix comprising a read only memory having a storage capacity of one byte per row of memory, the memory having a first memory means, a second memory means and a third memory means with the first memory means having nine memory row locations of memory storage devices for each character of the font to be printed, the memory storage devices at each successive row for each character being burned in pursuant to the dot matrix pattern for successive columns of dots of not more than eight rows for that given column of that given character, the second memory means having one memory row location of memory storage devices for each character of the font to be printed with the storage devices at each location being burned in pursuant to the dot matrix pattern of the remaining columns of the ninth row dot matrix pattern for not more than six columns of dots for the ninth row of one of sai
Abstract: A method and a video tape recorder apparatus having an encoder for serially pulse width modulating each of the normal frame-reference pulses with a bit of an elapsed record time signal and for recording the signal onto the frame-reference track of a video tape and a decoder for, during playback of the tape, extracting from the reproduced signal the frame-reference pulses and the elapsed record time signal and for generating therefrom a frame count signal.
Abstract: An improved noise suppression apparatus for reducing noise contamination of a video enhancement signal including a first circuit for developing a first signal proportional to the absolute value of the enhancement signal, a peak clipper for limiting the excursion of the first signal to a predetermined level and a multiplier responsive to the enhancement signal and the clipped first signal for developing a noise reduced video enhancing signal.
