Patent number: 8328361Abstract: An image projection apparatus includes a projector, a frame, and a partially transparent screen. The frame retains the screen under tension, such that the screen is inclined at an angle with respect to a plane of emission of light from the projector. The screen has a front surface arranged such that light emitted from the projector is reflected therefrom. The projector projects an image such that light forming the image impinges upon the screen such that a virtual image is created from light reflected from the screen, the virtual image appearing to be located behind the screen.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2011Date of Patent: December 11, 2012Assignee: Musion IP LimitedInventors: Ian O'Connell, James Rock

Patent number: 8325616Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for determination and exchange of network timing information are provided. In this regard, for each network hop traversed by a packet, a propagation delay of said network hop may be determined. Moreover, the propagation delay, and/or a hop length calculated utilizing the propagation delay, may be appended to the packet. The packet may, for example, be a MMRP registration packet or a SRP reservation packet. The packet may be dropped in instances that the propagation delay and/or length of a one or more traversed network hops is outside a determined range. The hop length may be determined by multiplying the propagation delay by a speed of propagation on the hop. The speed of propagation may be determined based on the physical layer technology associated with the network hop. Digital rights management may be implemented for media communicated on the network hop based at least in part on the hop length or the propagation delay.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2008Date of Patent: December 4, 2012Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Weida Huang, Yongbum Kim

Patent number: 8316117Abstract: A personal presentity presence service provides support for heterogeneous presentities. Presentity types including personal presentities are registered with a presentity manifest store that includes information such as type names, addresses of applications associated with actions related to the presentity type, application parameters, icons for watcher application, and the like. Personal presentity service identifies the personal presentity types associated with the user and automatically organizes these into a personal presence group for management and presentation purposes. Users (watchers) can then register for different groups of personal presentities, which are devices and systems personally associated with the user, based on a type of presentity and receive updated presence information.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2006Date of Patent: November 20, 2012Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Hong Thi Nguyen, Michael Sean Denny

Patent number: 8311142Abstract: An adaptive transmission scheme of the channel environment in the multi-antenna wireless transmission system can raise the spectrum use rate and power efficiency of the communication system. Compared with traditional single antenna input and single antenna output, the channel environment in MIMO wireless communication system is more complex. When the terminal is moving, the different types of channels between terminal and base station can be gone through and then its capacity can be changed more largely. Embodiments of the disclosure are directed to systems that transmit high speed data by way of a plurality of transmitting and/or receiving antennae, and particularly to a transmission scheme in different channel environments in a multi-antenna wireless transmission system.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2006Date of Patent: November 13, 2012Assignee: Southeast UniversityInventors: Xiqi Gao, Xiaohu You, Bin Jiang, Zhiwen Pan, Yuan Zhang

Patent number: 8306104Abstract: Various systems and methods providing high speed decoding, enhanced power reduction and clock domain partitioning for a multi-pair gigabit Ethernet transceiver are disclosed. ISI compensation is partitioned into two stages; a first stage compensates ISI components induced by characteristics of a transmitter's partial response pulse shaping filter in a demodulator, a second stage compensates ISI components induced by characteristics of a multi-pair transmission channel in a Viterbi decoder. High speed decoding is accomplished by reducing the DFE depth by providing an input signal from a multiple decision feedback equalizer to the Viterbi based on a tail value and a subset of coefficient values received from a unit depth decision-feedback equalizer. Power reduction is accomplished by adaptively truncating active taps in the NEXT, FEXT and echo cancellation filters, or by disabling decoder circuitry portions, as channel response characteristics allow.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2010Date of Patent: November 6, 2012Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Oscar E.
