Abstract: A game ball comprises an inflatable carcass, panels of cover material secured to the carcass so that portions of the carcass are not covered with cover material, and pieces of material having good grippability which are secured to the portions of the carcass which are not covered by the cover material. The laid-in material can form channels or a logo on the ball.
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for the continuous calcining of gypsum material in a high-efficiency, refractoryless kettle preferably heated by a multiple series of separate immersion tube burner coils, each coil operating within a specific calcining zone inside the kettle. The lowest, i.e., initial, burner tube coil is formed with a low profile to permit use of a small initial gypsum charge, and hence, a quick kettle start-up cycle. That low profile initial burner design also helps keep the agitator motor's load at a minimum during cycle start-up. Due to the immersion tube burner coil construction, no refractory structure for the kettle is required. Also, no separate hot pit structure is required, as the kettle is used to merely hold the material being calcined and no residual heat is present. A relatively thin kettle can be constructed, as it need only withstand relatively low operating temperatures.

Abstract: The present invention refers to a dc motor, in particular a micro dc motor, comprising a shaft and a collector element arranged on said shaft and consisting of a collector plate and a collector which projects from said collector plate beyond the shaft end, the collector element being extended beyond the collector so as to form a shaft section on the side facing away from the collector plate, said shaft section being adapted to have attached thereto an additional component part. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, the dc motor is provided with an incremental angle-position encoder comprising an encoder element, the encoder element being fixedly attached to the collector element, which is extended so as to form a shaft section, and constituting the additional component part.
Abstract: A fully enclosed cam-actuated drive device for providing both lift and translational movements, incorporating protection against damage in either horizontal or vertical overload situations, achieved by providing optional spring protection along the vertical and/or horizontal axes, a roller gear cam for lift motion, a barrel cam for translational motion, translation guide rods, a translational carriage assembly slidably received on the translation guide rods, an input drive shaft, and vertical lift rods. The device may be configured as a walking beam device to impart a U-shaped output motion, or alternatively a closed box-shaped motion, as desired. A split carriage assembly reduces backlash of the device and a sliding dust cover prevents foreign objects from entering the drivers cam-actuated internal operating structure.
Abstract: A thin film wound dressing is disclosed in which a thin, transparent, vapor-transmitting elastomeric film is coated along its underside with a suitable pressure-sensitive adhesive for securing the dressing to a patient's skin. Prior to use, the adhesive layer is protected by a removable release liner. The opposite (upper) surface of the film has a foraminous backing layer of flexible and stretchable material secured (preferably removably) thereto. The stretchable backing layer has a multiplicity of wide openings or foramina separated from each other by foam strip portions, and at least some of the strip portions preferably terminate in free ends along a peripheral edge of the film.
Abstract: A text string extraction system for a computer system having a display, an operating system having an application program interface with text output portion, a cursor for moving on the display, and application programs to be executed on the operating system for outputting text strings onto operating system via the text output portion to display the text strings on the display, the extraction system includes drawing portion for drawing a symbol on a location pointed to by the cursor and having the operating system output a signal to the application program and having the application program output a text string to be re-displayed and input portion for extracting a text string beside the location pointed to by the cursor by receiving the text string to be re-displayed output from the application program thereby supplying the input text string to the operating system via the text output portion for re-displaying.
Abstract: In a method for filling a liquid volume into receptacles wherein liquid is admitted into a volumetric metering chamber by opening an inlet valve, the inlet valve is closed when an upper switching level is reached, the liquid is discharged from the metering chamber into a receptacle by opening the outlet valve, and the outlet valve is closed when a lower switching level is reached, the upper filling level actually obtained after closing of the inlet valve is measured, as well as the lower filling level actually obtained after closing of the outlet valve. With the values obtained thereby, the upper and lower switching levels are corrected, whereby the desired liquid volume can exactly be observed independently of pressure and flow conditions.

Abstract: When carrying out a method for sterile bottling of beverages, which comprises the steps of cleaning the bottles first in a cleaning station by means of lye, transporting them then to a separate filling station, filling them in said filling station with the previously sterilized beverage, and closing them finally in a closing station, the sterilization of the interior of the bottles by introducing steam and/or hot water is carried out several times successively in spatially separated stations. This fractional sterilization of the bottles achieves a very high germ destruction rate, the amount of energy consumed being low and the bottles being treated carefully. In addition, measures against a reinfection of the bottles in the area of transport between the stations can be dispensed with so that a good accessibility of the transport area is guaranteed.

Abstract: A radiation apparatus comprising a radiation source and a filter arranged in an optical path, said filter comprising two transparent filter discs which are arranged substantially in plane-parallel fashion relative to each other and which are held with their surrounding edges in a frame made of a material of good heat conduction, the filter discs and the frame defining a closed cavity which has provided therein a medium for selectively influencing the radiation spectrum. The frame is divided substantially in a direction transverse to the filter axis into first and second frame halves in such a manner that the one filter disc is arranged on the first frame half at the side facing the cavity and the other filter disc is arranged on the second frame half at the side facing the cavity.
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for generating signal pulses with a gear arrangement, which has at least two meshing gears and with a sensor means for detecting a gear rotation and for emitting signal pulses as a function on the detected gear rotation. According to the invention a sensor of the sensor means is located in the vicinity of the gear arrangement at a point where the sensor detects the rotation of both gears.
Abstract: Transport star for containers with a basic body which can rotate, on whose circumference several gripper arms, in the form of double levers, are attached in bearings, which can be locked by selflocking in the closed position by means of spreader bodies which are arranged in the basic body so they can rotate. Each gripper arm consists of two parts which are connected to each other by articulation, between which a spring element is inserted, which can be elastically deformed in the closed position. As a result the duration of use of the gripper arms is increased and the range of diameters for the containers to be processed is considerably increased.

Each fastening screw (7; 8) is a screw bolt holding such elements (1, 11) together as a completely preassembled, mounting-ready unit without loose elements, the screw at the end to be fastened to the support (6) having a head (14; 15) arranged to be passed through an adapted hole (16; 17) or slot in the support (6), and to be locked in relation to the support by tightening of a nut (18; 19) at the other end.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and a device for removing shrinking casings or encircling labels from containers, particularly bottles, glasses, cans, or the like, in which, first of all, a separating line which proceeds essentially transversely to the direction of circumference is produced and the shrinking casing or the encircling label is then removed by means of a fluid stream which is directed against the container. During the removal of an encircling label or of a shrinking casing which has been cut through, the containers are preferably held, in a bottom-free manner, near the area of the head, and at least one fluid stream is directed, in an angular manner, from above, essentially axially to the wall of the container, against the container, and preferably above the upper edge of the shrinking casing or of the encircling label.
