  • Patent number: 5573437
Abstract: A packaged balloon and greeting card are disclosed comprising a balloon having an uninflated body, a filler neck extending from said body, and a first image displayed on said body; a greeting card having a face displaying a second image matching the first image; a tether line having a first end attached to the filler neck and a second end attached to the greeting card; and a packaging envelope receiving the uninflated balloon body, the greeting card, and at least a portion of the tether line. A third image, matching the first and second image, can be displayed on the envelope. The packaging envelope can also include an opening through which the balloon filler neck extends outside the envelope for communication to a source of inflating gas to permit in-situ inflation of the balloon body in the envelope. The envelope can also be constructed so as to be burst by inflation of the uninflated balloon body while it resides in the envelope to facilitate unpackaging of the balloon for use.

  • Patent number: 5564518
Abstract: In a vehicle transmission comprising a hydrostatic transmission (13) and a rear-wheel drive assembly (20) including a two-stage speed change mechanism (28), a front-wheel drive assemly (22) having a front-wheel drive shaft (24) is disposed at a front side of the output shaft (17) and includes a clutch (55; 155; 255) such that when the change mechanism is shifted to its high-speed position the clutch is disengaged so as to provide a non-drive mode for front wheels. A selective drive mode is preferably provided by a one-way clutch (56) which is operable to connect the drive shaft to the output shaft only when forward directional rotation speed of the output shaft is larger than that of the drive shaft. In a preferred embodiment, the front-wheel drive assembly is shiftable at a low-speed position of the change mechanism between a constant drive mode and the selective drive mode.

  • Patent number: 5562107
Abstract: A reclosable wound cover having a base for securement to the skin surfaces of a patient surrounding a wound and having a reclosable, transparent cover is disclosed. The base is formed of a barrier layer of soft, conformable fluid-absorbing, adhesive material and a thin, elastomeric backing layer which covers a surface of the barrier layer opposite from its skin-contacting surface. The cover includes a planar, transparent cover film which allows for visual inspection of the underlying wound through an opening in the base. The cover is smaller than the perimeter of the base so that lifting forces applied to the cover will not tend to separate the base from the skin surfaces of the patient and so that the cover does not contact the skin surfaces of the patient. An adhesive border is secured along the peripheral edge of the cover for releasably securing it to the backing layer of the base.

Abstract: An improved refrigeration manifold having an unrestricted and uncomplicated flow path as well as a simple and efficient valve system is disclosed. The refrigeration manifold includes a manifold body having a first passage extending horizontally through the body and second and third passages extending vertically through the body to form the high and low sides of the manifold. One or more passages extend through the body from the first passage to the bottom of the manifold body for connection to a vacuum or refrigeration source. First and second ball valves are disposed in the first passage for selectively opening and closing the first passage. Third and fourth ball valves may be provided in fourth and fifth passages which are provided for connection to a vacuum and charging source, respectively. The ball valves are operable by moving a lever through an arc of 90.degree. for quick turn off.

  • Patent number: 5557997
Abstract: A compensating linkage for a continuous motion saw for elongated web plies wherein a skew arm is pivotally connected at its ends to a drive arm and where the drive arm at its ends carries disc blades and sharpening grinding stones for the blades, the ends of the drive arm being pivotally connected for two degrees of freedom with brackets which in turn are connected to an eccentrically mounted control arm, the linkage resulting in compensation for the skew angle to provide a cut perpendicular to the movement of the web plies and reduction of centrifugal forces and elimination of cyclic centrifugal loading on the blade grinding systems.

  • Patent number: 5559040
Abstract: Pulsing and oscillating methods of centrifuging viable cell samples for improving the quantity and quality of the recovered cells are disclosed. In the pulsing method, the relative centrifugal force applied to the viable cells is pulsed between a predetermined centrifugal force and a negligible or zero centrifugal force by alternately rotating and stopping the centrifuge. The steps of rotating and stopping the centrifuge are alternately repeated until at least three total rotating steps have been completed, preferably for a total rotation time which does not exceed approximately 5 minutes. In the oscillating method, the relative centrifugal force applied to the viable cell samples is oscillated between a relatively high centrifugal force and a relatively low centrifugal force until at least three steps of rotation at the high g force are completed, preferably for a total rotation time which does not exceed approximately 5 minutes.

  • Patent number: 5547517
Abstract: A brazing agent consists essentially of a compacted powder mixture of an aluminum-silicon alloy and a flux, the agent having an apparent density of 90% or more of a theoretical density. Si is contained at about 3-15% by weight of all the elements other than the flux, so that the ratio in weight of all the elements to the flux is from 99.9:0.1 to 70:30. The brazing agent may further contain one or more elements selected from a group consisting of zinc, tin and indium, at about 0.1-5%, 0.01-0.5% and 0.01-0.5% by weight of all the elements other than the flux, respectively. A brazing sheet may be of such a structure that a core sheet made of aluminum or its alloy has at least one surface clad with a skin layer which has a thickness of 10 .mu.m or more for each surface.

  • Patent number: 5547207
Abstract: A rough terrain vehicle having a vehicle frame which maintains the vehicle platform and body in a relatively level position even when traversing slanted or uneven terrain is disclosed. The vehicle frame includes first and second forwardly-extending frame arms, and third and fourth rearwardly-extending frame arms. A central axle connects the frame arms at a midpoint of the vehicle and permits relative movement of the frame arms about pivot points at each side of the vehicle. Length-adjustable connecting members are provided at each side of the vehicle for controlling relative movement of the frame arms about the pivot points. A control mechanism is operatively associated with the connecting members for adjusting the relative positions of the frame arms so that the central axle remains relatively level even as the wheels follow the contour of slanted or uneven terrain.
