  • Patent number: 7171443
Abstract: A method, system and software for efficient transmission of information having dynamic information and static information are disclosed herein. A networked system having a remote site, a user, and a network is used to transmit information between the remote site and the user. The user sends a request for a set of information having dynamic information and static information, such as a hypertext markup language (HTML) file associated with a uniform resource locator (URL), to the remote site. The remote site, responding to the user's request, determines one or more dynamic portions and/or one or more static portions of the set of information. In one embodiment, a template representative of the set of information is used to aid in the determination of dynamic and static portions. The remote site transmits the one or more dynamic portions to the user, as well as instructions or references for accessing the one or more static portions from a location or file local to the user.

  • Patent number: 7165111
Abstract: A method and system for use in identifying customer premises equipment (CPE) in a distributed network are presented. The method utilizes a unique identifier provided by a CPE device to an access concentrator during the discovery stage of PPPoE communications in a distributed network. The access concentrator receives the unique identifier and stores the identifier in a database for use in identifying and managing CPE devices attached to a service provider's network. A system for identifying a communications device includes an access server and a database server. The access server is configured to receive an active discovery packet from a communications device. The active discovery packet has a tag comprising a device identifier field. The device identifier field is embedded in the tag by a module in the communications device, e.g., CPE device.

  • Patent number: 7143102
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically creating a play list from search criteria. A user inputs at least one search parameter for a store of music files. The player then builds a search query from the search parameter and any other search parameters entered. The query is stored in such a manner that the query is associated with a particular play list name. When the user desires to play that play list, the entry of the play list name causes the query to be executed and a list of objects is obtained. The list of objects may in turn contain other queries, which are then executed as well.
