Abstract: A clutch (3) which can be engaged and released by a controllable clutch drive (11) is arranged in the torque transmission path between an engine (1) and a gear transmission (5) of a motor vehicle. By means of a control switch (15) the clutch (3) is released whereby the vehicle can coast free-wheeling, saving fuel, with the engine (1) working in idling rate. On actuation of a brake pedal (15) a control circuit (13) engages the clutch (3) and at the same time shuts off the fuel supply to the engine (1) by means of a fuel valve (23). The engine (1) thus brakes the vehicle without additional fuel consumption. Alternatively the control circuit (13) can have constantly shut off the fuel supply of the engine (1) in free-wheeling operation. Under control of a pressure detector (45) detecting the suction in a servo-brake unit (41) the control circuit (13) engages the clutch (3) when the pressure rises to values which no longer guarantee operation of the brake unit.

Abstract: Apparatus for driving an open-ended pipe 7, which has a driving shoe 6 at its leading end, through the ground comprises a driving member 2, 3 to which percussive driving forces are applied by a driving mechanism. Instead of fitting the part 3 of the driving member directly into the rear end of the pipe 7 as is usual an intermediate component 8 is interposed between the pipe and the part 3. The component 8 has soil outlet openings 10 and a deflector 16 to allow soil which enters the pipe 7 through the shoe 6 as driving proceeds to pass through and out of the pipe without stopping the driving. The passage of the soil through the pipe 7 is assisted by water supplied under pressure through a pipe 11 to an annular duct 12 in the shoe 6, when the water flows inwards through nozzles 13 and then rearwards through the pipe 7 carrying the soil with it.
Abstract: In the disclosed portable computer, a keyboard with keys for entering at least a full alphabet and ten digits is coupled to a computer system that includes a central processing unit which is in turn coupled to a display arrangement with a liquid crystal display. The entire computer is mounted in a case composed of a base and a cover hinged to the base. The base houses the computer system and the keyboard, and exposes the keyboard for operation by a user when the cover is open, while the cover houses the display arrangement and exposes the liquid crystal display on its inner surface. The cover is hinged at the edge of the base and, when closed, covers substantially the entire upper surface of the base.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of detecting the focusing condition of an image forming optical system to an object, in which two images of the object are formed with respective light beams from the prescribed exit pupil areas lying in almost symmetry to each other with respect to the optical axis of the optical system and are sensed to obtain an equal number of picture element data for each of the images, and based on the thus-obtained picture element data, while sequential shifting for the first image is carried out from its one end to its opposite end, and a sequential shifting for the second image from its symmetric one end thereto to its opposite end, each by a predetermined number of picture elements, a correlation betweeen the first and second images in every predetermined equal number of picture elements is sought, whereby an optimum correlation is obtained, the corresponding mutual positional relationship between the above-described predetermined numbers of picture elements is detected to discriminate whether
Abstract: For releasably joining two structural components (1,2), particularly plate-shaped structural components which extend at a right angle relative to one another, a fitting has a preferably cylindrical locking element which can be inserted either directly in a bore (4) in the first structural component (1) or it can be inserted indirectly in a housing, and a holding piece (5) with a holding projection (7) anchored in the second structural component (2). In the assembled position, the holding projection 7 abuts against one or two gripping surfaces (8) of the locking element (3) which gripping surfaces (8) are of, for example, eccentric shape, and the holding projection (7) is pulled toward the locking element when the locking element (3) is turned. Abstract: A coupling assembly including a lock latchable in the unlocked position particularly for connecting a universal shaft with a power takeoff shaft in agricultural implements, wherein a coupling sleeve on the universal shaft may be slipped into torque transmitting engagement onto a power takeoff shaft and held in the locked position by locking members engaging within an annular groove of the power takeoff shaft. A lock ring holds the locking members in the locked position and when it is desired to release the coupling, a gripping sleeve is moved so as to disengage the lock ring from the locking members to enable disengagement of the locking members from the annular groove in the power takeoff shaft.
Abstract: A device for driving nails, staples and similar fastening elements includes an electromotor for rotating a driving member. The rotation of the driving member is transferred to a driven member which, in turn, converts the rotational movement into translational movement. The rotational movement from the driving member to the driven member is effected for a limited time period by a clutch so that a drive stroke and a return stroke are carried out. A releasing device actuates the clutch.
Abstract: Disclosed is a camera having a plurality of range finder areas in the field of view upon distance measurement thereof to provide information for focusing adjustment of the photographic lens, wherein the number of the aforesaid rangefinder spots contributing to focal adjustment of the photographic lens is changed by automatically depending upon the object distance, whereby focusing is properly performed by taking into account the number of laterally spaced objects in a target area and the back- or fore-ground by a very simple operation.

Abstract: There is provided a device for holding and storing articles which comprises an elongated, ruler like member having a slot extending longitudinally in the ruler like member, one or more pairs of springy fingers being provided--the two fingers in a pair being distinct from one another and unconnected to each other--one end of each finger being bent off at a substantially right angle from the major extension of the finger, at least two of the fingers being affixed to the ruler like member by means of co-acting male and female screw members, the male screw member passing through the bent off end portion of a finger and the longitudinal slot.
Abstract: A process and devices with which the fused sulphur is removed from fossil fuels, preferably coke and petrocoke, ahead of the furnace or the like and is fused with an additive. In the combustion chamber, the additive with the fused sulphur is then sintered. The fuel is desulphurized at a temperature management controllable by an electronic process computer, at controllable residence times and pressure conditions in leading zones so that practically completely desulphurized fuel is burned in the combustion chamber. The sulphur components are removed with the additive via an ash removal plant. A combustion of the sulphur components of the fuel to SO.sub.2 within the combustion chamber does not occur.
Abstract: In a rotating machine for filling liquid into bottles in similar containers, a centering member including the filling valve is vertically movable between a lower centering or holding position and an upper release position. The centering member in the lower position seals the bottles during the filling operation. Accordingly, a large number of centering members and filling valves are located next to one another on the periphery of the machine. When the filling operation takes place under counterpressure, there is the danger of bottles breaking and damaging the centering members. Accordingly, a control support block on the machine includes a guide bushing laterally enclosing the centering member in its upper position. The lower section of the centering member projects from the guide bushing in the lower centering position.

Abstract: The clutch disc for a motor vehicle friction clutch comprises a hub (1) and a friction lining carrier mounted rotatably through a limited angle of rotation on the hub (1), with side discs (9, 11) firmly connected into one unit and arranged axially on both sides of a hub flange (7). The friction lining carrier is mounted through a guide ring (15) on the hub (1). The guide ring (15) comprises a ring part (41), which can be a component of a friction damper (29), and a ring extension piece (53) guiding the friction lining carrier radially on the hub (1). The ring extension piece (53) is made radially resilient and centers the friction lining carrier radially without play on the hub (1). The guide ring (15) can comprise axial tongues or a coating of elastic material for the generation of initial radial stress forces.
