Abstract: An oil-in-water emulsion composition containing a vitamin A fatty acid ester, which further contains means for preventing oxidation of the vitamin A fatty acid ester and means for preventing hydrolysis of the vitamin A fatty acid ester. The vitamin A fatty acid ester is stabilized in the composition. The composition is particularly suitable for purposes of external-use.
Abstract: Provided are a composite powder comprising a core particle which is spherical and has a refractive index of from 1.40 to 1.60, and a coating component which is coated on the surface of the core particle in film form and has a refractive index of from 2.00 to 2.90, and a coloring composition containing the composite powder. The composite powder or coloring composition is coated on a coating surface to form a composite powder layer. The composite powder layer causes light interference to exhibit a color on the surface. The composite powder and coloring composition are used in various fields.
Abstract: A torch angle setting apparatus includes vertical links arranged in a vertical direction, the respective lower end of which is supported on a frame so as to be pivotally rotatable, and coupled with horizontal links at an upper end and an intermediate position of the vertical links for constituting a three-dimensionally parallel link. The torch angle setting apparatus also includes an inclining member constituted of a motor, an arm and a transmission member for inclining the vertical links by pivotally rotating the arm, a swinging member constituted of a swinging motor, a conducting member, splines for, including the inclining member, swinging conically the vertical links on fulcrums at the frame as a center, and a cutting torch moving in parallel to the vertical links.

Abstract: An orthopaedic support fastening system which incorporates a “one-size-fits-all” concept for support of various human limbs. The design itself comprises a substantially flat sheet of sheet material having extending straps and slot apertures. The slot apertures, used for receiving straps, provide increased stability and support once the limb is properly positioned. The preferred means of securing the straps to the support is by the use of hook and loop material although other means of attachment can be used such as snaps.

Abstract: The present inventors conducted investigations in order to develop a metal oxide which enables effective UV-screening; i.e. which has excellent screening ability against ultraviolet rays, particularly against long-wavelength ultraviolet rays, as well as excellent visible-light transmission; and to provide a UV-screening composition that contains the metal oxide and can be applied to external use. As a result, the present inventors have found that zinc oxide produced by a particular method has a characteristic form; i.e., primary particles having an average particle diameter of 50-100 nm aggregate in a planer shape, and a ratio represented by lnT360nm/lnT400nm (Txnm: transmittance of transmitted light of X nm) of 10 or more, and exerts excellent screening effect against long-wavelength ultraviolet rays as well as excellent visible-light transmission. The present invention has been accomplished based on this finding.

Abstract: An O/W/O type multiple emulsion in which an O/W type emulsion is dispersed in the outer phase oil wherein the O/W type emulsion in the inner phase contains water, an oil based ingredient, a surfactant and an amphiphilic substance chosen from those which can form a gel at ordinal temperature or higher in an amphiphilic substance-surfactant-oil-water system or N-long chain acyl acidic amino acid monosalt and an amphiphilic substance chosen from those which can form a gel at ordinal temperature or higher in an amphiphilic substance-N-long chain acyl acidic amino acid monosalt-oil-water system, said outer phase oil contains organophilic modified clay minerals and an emulsifying agent with a HLB of 7 or lower, and the weight ratio of the O/W type emulsion and the outer phase oil is 2:3-19:1. An O/W/O type multiple emulsion with superior stability over time and good usability.

While the pipe replacement device A is traveled in the inside of cast iron pipes, the inner wall of cast iron pipes is cut by the cutter bodies 14 to form grooves.

Abstract: A tape formulation for percutaneous administration containing fentanyl which comprises fentanyl or a salt thereof, a pressure sensitive adhesive and sodium acetate, is disclosed. The salt of fentanyl is preferably fentanyl citrate. The tape formulation of the present invention is little irritation to the skin and excellent in the percutaneous permeation of fentanyl and has a high stability even after the passage of time.

Burner elements are composed of fire resistant porous fiber mats are provided wherein the burner element itself may form a peripheral wall of a case of a burner. The walls of the cases of the burners are composed of either ceramic fibers coated or impregnated with sealants to keep the ceramic fibers gas-tight, metallic sheets provided with means for preventing thermal expansion, or a combination of the two.
Abstract: Powder coated with a sparingly soluble ultraviolet light absorber which is prepared by a method in which the melted sparingly soluble ultraviolet light absorber and an inorganic or organic powder are mixed while heating and then gradually cooled to coat the surface of said powder with the sparingly soluble ultraviolet light absorber, or by a method in which the sparingly soluble ultraviolet light absorber is adsorbed to or made to coat the surface of the inorganic powder or organic powder using a mechanochemical method. The sparingly soluble ultraviolet light absorber can be blended in a high concentration in the system and blended homogeneously in the base agent. Also, stability over time is superior and the ultraviolet light protection effect is high.
