  • Patent number: 6070695
Abstract: A silencer comprising an outer sleeve made of a aluminum or an aluminum alloy, an inner sleeve made of a iron or steel, and acoustic material inserted between the outer sleeve and the inner sleeve. An end cap for closing a downstream end of the silencer comprising a first member made of iron or steel which is formed into a shape of the end cap, and a second member made of aluminum metal which is formed into the same shape as the outline of the first member, the peripheral portion of the first member and the peripheral portion of the second member being laminated. An end plate made of aluminum being mounted on an upstream end of the silencer. Clamping members made of iron or steel including female or male screws are secured to the end plate. An exhaust pipe is provided with a mounting seat at a fixed position thereof. The silencer can be secured to the mounting seat by means of the clamping members and bolts or nuts made of iron or steel. The end cap can be welded to a part of the outer sleeve.

  • Patent number: 6008658
Abstract: Electromagnetic waves are driven in the pipe to be inspected in the piping system by a transmitting antenna of a transmitter, to be propagated in the pipe; while a receiving antenna of a receiver is moved outside the pipe along the pipe, to receive leaking electromagnetic waves for inspecting elements of the piping system, and the location concerned of each element of the piping system to be inspected is detected in reference to the location of the receiving antenna where the level of electromagnetic waves received by the receiver becomes a peak. The locations to be inspected are the damaged portions such as holes formed by corrosion, cracks, etc. in the pipes, and the locations of joints, etc. It is also possible to move the transmitting antenna outside along the pipe, while arranging the receiving antenna at proper place in the pipe. Furthermore, it is also possible to move both the transmitting antenna and the receiving antenna in synchronization to effect the above inspection.

  • Patent number: 5939973
Abstract: A rotary variable resistor with switch having a switch mechanism, in particular, a rotary variable resistor with switch corresponding to an ultrathin rotary variable resistor. Such a rotary variable resistor having a switch mechanism has dimensions, especially thickness, which are only slightly larger than that of a conventional ultrathin rotary variable resistor. Moreover, such a rotary variable resistor is easy to assembly due to the small number of parts, is reliable, and generates a fairly loud and easily recognizable clicking sound each time the switch is turned on or off, which can be both easily felt and heard by the user.
