  • Patent number: 7862332
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing air pollutants associated with dry process, precalciner cement manufacturing is shown. Raw feed meal used in cement production is heated in a special heating chamber to drive off volatile compounds, such as organic materials and salts of ammonia. Preferably, the feed meal is heated to a temperature of at least 350° F. The gases that are driven off flow to the precalciner where they are combusted and rendered harmless. Heat is provided by diverting at least a portion of the exhaust gases from the cement pyroprocessing kiln to the special heater. The raw feed meal is indirectly heated using a heat exchange wall between the feed meal and the kiln exhaust gas flow. In addition, a base-containing material such as lime or precalcined feed meal, may be added to the raw feed before treatment meal to promote the breakdown of inorganic ammonium compounds, thereby releasing gaseous ammonia which is also destroyed upon subsequent combustion.

  • Patent number: 7862558
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods treat cosmetic defects, and often apply cooling with at least one tissue-penetrating probe inserted through of the skin of a patient. The cooling may remodel one or more target tissue so as to effect a desired change in a composition of the target tissue and/or a change in its behavior. Exemplary embodiments of the cooling treatments will interfere with the nerve/muscle contractile function chain so as to mitigate wrinkles of the skin. Related treatments may be used therapeutically for treatment of back and other muscle spasms, chronic pain, and the like. • Patent number: 7865480
Abstract: A metadata validation process that allows for deferring object model validation until after the objects are created. The process also allows for multi-threaded processing of the validation rules, thus increasing overall performance. Validation is performed by enforcing a series of validation rules on an appropriate subject. Rules are specified according to the subject that they are validating (i.e., attribute level, association level, object level or collection level). The metadata driven validation process implements several validation types on different validation units. Correctness validation rule types ensure that a validation unit satisfies all semantic rules defined for it. Completeness validation rule types ensure that a validation unit contains all the necessary data and is ready for further use. At design time, only correctness type validation is performed. Thus, the present invention advantageously allows for incomplete objects to be created at design time.

  • Patent number: 7864181
Abstract: A method for simulating objects includes receiving a target shape associated with a simulated object. A difference is determined between the target shape and a measured shape associated with the simulated object. One or more forces are generated to act on the simulated object to reduce the difference between the target shape and the measured shape. The target shape may be updated when the difference between the target shape and the measured shape exceeds a predetermined tolerance. Updating the target shape may include reducing the target shape to move the target shape closer to the measured shape.

  • Patent number: 7864581
Abstract: A NAND flash memory device is recovered by applying a predetermined bias to a drain or a source. Abstract: A field effect transistor (FET) includes a source electrode for receiving an externally-provided source voltage. The FET further includes an active region and a termination region surrounding the active region. A resistive element is coupled to the termination region, wherein upon occurrence of avalanche breakdown in the termination region an avalanche current starts to flow in the termination region, and the resistive element is configured to induce a portion of the avalanche current to flow through the termination region and a remaining portion of the avalanche current to flow through the active region. During operation, one end of the resistive element is biased to the source voltage.

  • Patent number: 7863048
Abstract: Protein dyes whose molecular structure is that of a coumarin moiety coupled to a quaternary ammonium heterocycle through a vinyl or polyvinyl linkage demonstrate the ability to associate with proteins in a non-covalent, non-specific manner at low pH, where the associated form displays a significantly higher fluorescence emission than the unassociated form. This makes the dyes useful as selective labels for proteins at the low pH and eliminates the need for the removal of extraneous components from the medium in which the proteins reside prior to detection.

  • Patent number: 7865647
Abstract: Resource requests are allocated by storing resource requests in a queue slots in a queue. A token is associated with one of the queue slots. During an arbitration cycle, the queue slot with the token is given the priority to the resource. If the queue slot with the token does not include a request, a different queue slot having the highest static priority and including a request is given access to the resource. The token is advanced to a different queue slot after one or more arbitration cycles. Requests are assigned to the highest priority queue slot, to random or arbitrarily selected queue slots, or based on the source and/or type of the request. One or more queue slots may be received for specific sources or types of requests. Resources include processor access, bus access, cache or system memory interface access, and internal or external interface access.

  • Patent number: 7865448
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided of initiating a wireless device for use in performing transactions. A wireless communication is received from the wireless device at a host system. The wireless communication identifies a financial account to be authorized for use in supporting transactions. A location-positioning signal is received at the host system. The location-positioning signal identifies a geographical location for the wireless device at a time when the wireless communication is received at the host system. The geographical location is determined from the location-positioning signal. An authorized address for the financial account is retrieved from a storage device in communication with the host system. It is verified that the geographical location is at a position substantially the same as the authorized address. Information defining an account transaction mechanism is transmitted wirelessly to the wireless device. The information includes an identification of the financial account.
