  • Patent number: 7744975
Abstract: A roll of contaminant removal tape defining opposing longitudinal ends, opposing side edges, and opposing major surfaces. The tape is wound into a roll and includes a backing layer, an adhesive layer, a plurality of lines of perforations, and a set of discrete non-adhesive zones. The adhesive layer is applied to a first side of the backing layer to define a portion of the first major surface. The lines of perforations extend across at least most of the width of the tape between the first and second side edges to separate the tape into sheets. The non-adhesive zones are provided along the first major surface of the tape, with each non-adhesive zone extending from the first side edge. In one embodiment, the lines of perforations are progressively longitudinally spaced from one another, and respective ones of the non-adhesive zones correspond with respective ones of the lines of perforations.

  • Patent number: 7703179
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a method for making a polymeric article mold, a method for making a polymeric article with that mold, and improved surface topography features for a polymeric article. A prototype article is formed and then coated with a thin conductive layer. The coated prototype article is then electroformed until nickel plated to a sufficient depth to define a nickel plating tool. After the prototype article has been removed from the mold face of the nickel tool, the tool can be used as a mold for forming finished polymeric articles which replicate the original prototype article. The use of fine topography features such as a dense upstanding stem array on the surface of the prototype article facilitates accurate and complete electroforming by increased surface area presentation. The disclosure also presents improvements to microreplicated surface structures such as stem arrays.

  • Patent number: 7700178
Abstract: One aspect of the present invention relates to a cleaning wipe for picking up diverse debris, such as sand, dust, hair, and food particles. In one aspect, the cleaning wipe comprises a web defining a working surface opposite a second surface, the working surface defining at least a first region having a first degree of loftiness and a first height, a second region having a second degree of loftiness and a second height, and a third region having a third degree of loftiness and a third height. The third region includes an adhesive. The first degree of loftiness is greater than the second degree of loftiness, which is greater than the third degree of loftiness. The first height is greater than the second height, which is greater than the third height.

  • Patent number: 7631391
Abstract: A head (1) for a strip mop comprises a hollow dome-shaped body (3) which is attachable at its top to one end of an elongate mop handle (4). Web material is secured within the body (3) so that a portion hangs down from the base of the dome-shaped body to provide the cleaning substrate (2) of the mop. To facilitate access to confined areas of a surface that is being cleaned, such as corners, the base of the dome-shaped body (3) of the mop head has the general form of an equilateral triangle. A spacer (17, FIG. 4) is provided between two adjacent layers of the web material within the dome-shaped body, to enhance the volume of the cleaning substrate (2); and a peripheral skirt (8) of a more resilient material is provided at the base of the wall of the dome-shaped body (3) to reduce the risk of damage to surfaces that might be impacted by the mop head (1) when in use.

  • Patent number: 7621978
Abstract: A timer that starts a time cycle when a filter is placed into a housing is disclosed. The timer cycle will not reinitiate a new time cycle when the previously used filter is removed from the housing and reinserted into the housing. In one embodiment, the filter timer assembly includes a filter having a filter media surrounded by a filter frame, a housing for supporting the filter, a piercing post connected to the housing moveable between a first resting position and a second position in direct contact with the filter frame, and a timer connected to the piercing post. The piercing post punctures a portion of the filter frame to create an opening in the filter frame. The timer initiates a count when the piercing post is actuated to the second position.

  • Patent number: 7622174
Abstract: A stacked pad of large adhesive tape sheets containing a plurality of superimposed tape sheets formed from a substrate with an area of differential release, which extends less than the full length and width of the substrate. The second major surface of the substrate includes a layer of an adhesive. Sequential tape sheets in the pad are configured and arranged with the area of differential release alternating between first and second corners of the sheets with the adhesive layer of each tape sheet is releasably adhered to an adjacent tape sheet at a higher adhesion level, except for the area of differential release which adheres to an adjacent tape sheet at a lower adhesion level.
