Abstract: An adhesive tape comprising a backing and a layer of adhesive on the backing. The backing comprises a biaxially oriented substrate which comprises an isotactic polypropylene composition. The tapes and backings of this invention can be severed readily using commercial tape dispensers having metal or plastic cutting teeth to produce cleanly serrated cut edges on the tape. The biaxially oriented substrate is preferably made from a resin comprising an isotactic polypropylene homopolymer having a melt flow rate greater than 8 grams/10 minutes, more preferably greater than 12 grams/10 minutes, and still more preferably greater than about 20 grams/10 minutes. One preferred way to obtain such a resin is to blend: A) at least one isotactic polypropylene homopolymer “A” having a weight average molecular weight of at least 350,000 grams/mole and melt a flow rate of about 0.5–8 grams/10 minutes, more preferably about 0.
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a stacked pad of adhesive tape sheets is disclosed. The dispenser comprises a base having transversely spaced first and second major surfaces, first and second longitudinal ends defining a length, and first and second lateral sides defining a width. The dispenser further comprises a pair of laterally opposed side tabs proximate the first longitudinal end of the base which are transversely spaced from the first major surface of the base and laterally extend inward from the sides of the base so as to extend over the first major surface of the base. Substantially the entire first major surface of the base remains exposed.
Abstract: An article support device (10) includes a support body (14) having an article support section (12) and a cover member (16) movably coupled to the support body (14). When the device is used, the support body (14) is fixedly adhered with a stretch-releasable adhesive tape member (18) and is attached to a surface (36) by the adhesive tape member (18) with a non adhesive pull tab portion (18a) of the adhesive tape member (18) projecting outwardly from one longitudinal end of the support body (14). In this condition, a portion of the cover member (16) is capable of moving between a first position for hiding the pull tab portion (18a) projecting outwardly from behind the support body (14) and a second position for exposing the pull tab portion (18a) of the adhesive tape member (18).
Abstract: A multi-chambered inflatable member formed by connecting the perimeters of two polymeric film layers includes a seal line spaced from the perimeter that interconnects the two film layers to form a perimeter inflatable channel along a portion of the perimeter. A plurality of inflatable cells extend between opposing portions of the inflatable channel and are in communication with one of the opposing portions of the inflatable channel. A check valve communicates with the inflatable channel to inflate the inflatable member. Articles being shipped or stored in a container can be placed between two or more inflatable members, the perimeter inflatable channels of which provide perimeter protection between the article and the container.

Abstract: An inflatable packaging system comprised of an inflation channel that feeds a plurality of inflatable cells prevents buckling of the inflation header as the inflatable cells inflate by relieving stress along a seal line that separates the inflation header from the inflatable cells.
Abstract: A handle assembly for use with a fibrous cleaning pad. The handle assembly includes a generally rigid first member including a first insertable portion, and a handle portion with a first end of the handle portion fixed to a second end of the first insertable portion and a manually engageable part adjacent a second opposite end of the handle portion. The handle assembly also includes a second member including a second insertable portion, and an actuation portion having a first end fixed to a second end of the second insertable portion. A first end of the second insertable portion opposite the actuation portion is pivotally mounted on a first end of the first insertable portion opposite the handle portion for relative movement of the insertable portions by manual manipulation of the actuation portion between a diverging position with outer surfaces of the insertable portions diverging from their first ends, and an adjacent position with the outer surfaces of the insertable portions generally parallel.
