Abstract: A composition for treating cancer cells and a preparation method therefor are provided. The novel flavonoid compounds are obtained from natural plants, and more particularly the compounds have a cytotoxicity on cancer cells.
Abstract: A thin battery powered lighter, which has superior portability and usable as an advertising medium, is provided. The lighter includes a thin flat case (2); a sheet type battery (3) provided within the case (2); a heating element (4) connected to the battery (3); and a power switch (5) for establishing an electrical connection between the battery (3) and the heating element (4). The case (2) includes a slide member (6) for opening and closing an ignition window (21), which is provided at a position that the heating element faces (4), and an operating button (51) for operating the power switch (5). When the ignition window (21) is closed by the slide member (6), a portion of the slide member is interposed between contact points of the switch, precluding an operation of the operating button (51). The electrical connection is enabled by operating the operating button (51) in a state in which the ignition window (21) is open.
Abstract: An igniter includes an igniter body provided with a liquefied gas reservoir, and a rod-like extension, which extends from the igniter body and has a flame port ejecting gas flame therethrough on its leading end. The base portion of the rod-like extension is supported for rotation with respect to the igniter body so that the angle made between the igniter body and the rod-like extension can be changed to change the direction of the flame port in a free state and locked when the igniting action is to be done.
Abstract: A bracketing system is provided having two brackets joined by a flexible adhesive material that allows bridging or backing members of variable lengths and widths to be mounted between vertical studs to enhance stability of the wall construction. A wall construction assembly according to an embodiment of the invention comprises two vertical studs and a bridge backing member mounted there between by a bracketing system, which includes a left bracket and a right bracket connected by a flexible adhesive material. Because the bridge backing member can be adjustably sized to be secured on the brackets, it can be sized to fit between studs regardless of any variation in the spacing of the studs. This obviates the need to prefabricate bridge backing members to fit between variably spaced studs. The bridge backing member can be mounted flush with the stud to eliminate unevenness in the wall structure. Bridge or backing members of various widths and lengths can be mounted to the bracketing system.
Abstract: An underground digital locating system includes a receiver capable of acquiring a signal produced by an underground object and displaying a digital representation of the orientation of underground object and of its depth. The system includes a carrying case for the digital locating receiver, the carrying case further including a transmitter for energizing underground objects to emit a magnetic field. A method of locating an underground object using the described system is also disclosed, as well as methods of measuring a flux field and translating a flux field signal of an underground object into a visual representation of the underground object on the display screen of the locating receiver.
Abstract: A foldable lighter that prevents inadvertent ignition by erroneously pressing the operating button when folding the swing-arm to make the lighter compact. A foldable lighter 1 that comprises a lighter body 2 that contains a fuel tank, a piezoelectric unit 102, an operating button 8, and a swing-arm 4 connected with free swinging to one end of lighter body 2 and that incorporates a locking mechanism to prevent accidental depression of operating button 8. The locking mechanism consists of a projecting portion 74 formed in a predetermined range of cylindrical walls 26a and 26c made integrally with swing-arm 4 and a hook 8b that extends from the operating button along a portion of the cylindrical walls.

Abstract: A modular raintank and water storage system are described. A modular raintank comprises a plurality of interconnected external sidewall modules. The sidewall modules have a plurality of openings which allow water to freely flow into and out of the modular raintank. The water storage system comprises a plurality of interconnected modular raintanks. The adjacent modular raintanks of the water storage system can share a sidewall, and can be stacked on top of each other and connected in a side-by-side pattern. The shared sidewall comprises a plurality of locking lip members arranged in rows to facilitate the attachment of additional modular plates of adjacent raintanks and a plurality of U-shaped openings to facilitate visual inspection of the tank while underground.

Abstract: A residual liquid quantity detecting method capable of accurately detecting the residual quantity of liquid without relying upon visual observation, preventing overfill at the time of refilling. A residual liquid quantity detecting method for a liquid supply container (100) has a container body (108) having a liquid supply opening (126) and has a liquid storage chamber (118) in which liquid (119) is sealed, the liquid storage chamber (118) being formed in the container body (108) and communicating with the liquid supply opening (126). The liquid (119) is supplied from the liquid supply opening (126) to the outside of the container by primary supply pressure generated through reduction, by pressure, in volume of the liquid storage chamber (118). The residual quantity of the liquid (119) in the liquid storage chamber (118) is detected by detecting primary supply pressure of the liquid (119).
Abstract: A folding lighter that does not injure a finger or inadvertently ignite at pressing of the operating button at time of folding the swingarm to make the lighter compact. A folding lighter comprising body 2 housing a fuel tank 106 and a piezoelectric unit 102 and possessing on a side surface operating button 8, and swingarm 4 connected with free swinging to one end of body 2, and possessing a safety mechanism to prevent folding of swingarm 4 when foreign object 134 interposes between swingarm 4 and operating component 8 at time when swingarm 4 is being folded. The safety mechanism possesses swing preventer 120 that oscillatingly shifts by operation of operating component 8, and swing preventer 120 possesses first arm 121 that is pressed by pressing inward operation of operating component 8, and on the opposite side of axle socket 122 possesses second arm 123 that prevents swingarm 4 from being folded when first arm 121 is pressed by pressing inward operation of operating component 8.
