Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling a vehicle system including an engine that is selectively deactivated during engine idle-stop conditions. One example method includes, during a first condition, engaging an engine starter, without applying a starter current, to the deactivated rotating engine after the engine speed drops below a threshold speed. The method further includes, during a second condition, engaging the starter and adjusting a starter motor switch to apply a starter braking torque to the rotating engine.

Abstract: A spiral-toothed gear wheel for a rack and pinion steering. The spiral-toothed gear wheel includes a pinion, which meshes on the power take-off side with a toothed rack, and a spiral-toothed gear, which is arranged on the pinion on the drive side in such a way that they rotate in unison, and on which a torque caused by a steering power or/and steering assist power acts. The spiral-toothed gear is designed as a built-up gear and includes a gear rim, which is arranged, relative to the axial direction of the gear or of the pinion thereof, between two flanges. The gear rim is pushed over a hub formed at one of the flanges and is fitted together with the flanges in a positive-locking manner. One of the flanges, namely, the flange having the hub for the gear rim, is made in one piece with the pinion.

A cover body may be configured to provide a covering surface, and may have a side wall extending toward the cylinder head. A resilient joining element may connect the bottom carrier second end to an edge of the cover body side wall in sealing engagement.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of a web of tissue paper, comprising the steps of: depositing a layer of an aqueous suspension of papermaking fibers on at least one forming fabric; reducing the water content of said layer until the weight percentage of fiber in said layer is brought up to a first value; wet-embossing said layer in a nip between a pair of embossing rollers; and drying said layer to form a web of tissue paper.
Abstract: A method of operating an internal combustion engine having an intake, an exhaust, and a turbocharger including a turbine and a compressor, the compressor coupled to the intake and the turbine coupled to the exhaust, the engine further having an exhaust gas recirculation system coupled to the exhaust upstream of the turbine and coupled to the intake downstream of the compressor, the method including transferring heat via a heat exchanger from the exhaust gas recirculation system to downstream of the turbine.
Abstract: A user interface screen is displayed on a gaming device that provides both a first selectable item that indicates the ability to download games to the gaming device and a second selectable item that indicates the ability to view games that are stored on at least one storage device in the gaming device. The user interface is associated with the gaming device instead of with an individual application.

Abstract: An engine system with a turbocharger is provided. The system may include an exhaust manifold having plural independent exhaust passages, each of the exhaust passages being connected to an exhaust port of a corresponding engine cylinder. The system may further include a collective part formed by gathering said independent exhaust passages in said exhaust manifold or on a downstream side of said exhaust manifold. The system may further include an exhaust turbocharger connected to a downstream side of said collective part. The system may further include a variable exhaust valve for changing each passage cross-sectional area of said independent exhaust passage at an upstream side of said collective part. The system may further include a controller for controlling said variable exhaust valve, wherein said controller is configured to perform independent exhaust throttle control for reducing a passage cross-sectional area of at least one of said independent exhaust passages.
Abstract: A method of operating an internal combustion engine having a reductant delivery and storage system in an emission control system, comprising of correlating a change in a monitored operating condition with a refill event to determine whether a reductant-diluting substance has been added to the reductant storage system; and limiting vehicle operation based on the correlation.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of a web of tissue paper, comprising the steps of: depositing a layer of an aqueous suspension of papermaking fibers on at least one forming fabric; reducing the water content of said layer until the amount in weight of the fibers in said layer is brought up to a first value; wet-embossing said layer in a nip between a pair of embossing rollers; and drying said embossed layer using a drying system to form a web of tissue paper.
Abstract: A method of operating a hybrid vehicle propulsion system includes selectively operating the engine to consume fuel stored on-board the vehicle based on a residence time of the fuel stored on-board the vehicle and further based on a profile of ambient conditions over the residence time.
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling an engine of a vehicle. In one example, a throttle is adjusted improve engine restarting during an automatic engine stop where an operator requests an engine restart. The methods and systems may improve vehicle drivability.

Abstract: A method for operating an oil control valve coupled to a cam phaser configured to adjust a position of at least one cam between hard stops, the oil control valve included in an internal combustion engine having an intake valve and/or an exhaust valve controlled via the cam phaser. The method including operating the oil control valve responsive to cam position feedback information, the oil control valve adjusted in a first relationship based on the feedback information and operating the oil control valve in a cleaning mode during select combustion conditions by abruptly switching the oil control valve between two states responsive to the cam position feedback information. The oil control valve adjusted in a second relationship based on the feedback information, the second relationship including more abrupt adjustment than the first relationship.

Abstract: A method for improving starting of an engine that may be repeatedly stopped and started is presented. In one embodiment, the method skips combustion in at least one cylinder, according to the engine combustion order, to control engine speed when an engine is automatically restarted. The skipped combustion event may be related to a level of IMEP when combustion in a cylinder occurs under an operating condition.

Abstract: A method of preserving individual information privacy for each of a plurality of customers while providing aggregated information about the plurality of customers includes storing static customer data and dynamic customer data of the plurality of customers in a protected database. The method includes restricting shared access to the static customer data and the dynamic customer data to a set of approved privacy-preserving queries. The privacy preserving queries include a privacy-preserving aggregation query that uses one or more parameters to indicate a characteristic of interest for which aggregation of the static customer data and the dynamic customer data is requested. The privacy-preserving aggregation query may be configured to retrieve aggregated customer data related to the characteristic of interest.
