Abstract: Various embodiments related to rear-projection image display are disclosed. For example, one disclosed embodiment provides a projector for projecting an image and a screen configured to display the image. The screen comprises a filter layer having a light reception side and an image display side. The filter layer includes an array of trapezoidal transmissive elements and an array of trapezoidal absorption elements, where a wider base of each of the trapezoidal transmissive elements faces the light reception side of the filter layer, and where a wider base of each of the trapezoidal absorption elements faces the image display side of the filer layer.
Abstract: An engine system for a vehicle is provided, comprising an internal combustion engine including an exhaust system; a first turbine including a first wastegate and arranged along a first branch of the exhaust system, a second turbine including a second wastegate and arranged along a second branch of the exhaust system; a first exhaust gas sensor arranged along the first branch of the exhaust system downstream of the first turbine and first wastegate; a second exhaust gas sensor arranged along the second branch of the exhaust system downstream of the second turbine and the second wastegate; and a control system configured to command the first and second wastegates to a closed or open position and to indicate one of said wastegates as unresponsive to said command in response to a temperature difference between the first and second branches indicated by the first and second exhaust gas sensors.
Abstract: The correction of an image for ambient light in an optical touch-sensitive device is disclosed. For example, one disclosed embodiment comprises integrating a first field of pixels in an image data frame for a different duration of ambient light exposure than a second field of pixels in the image data frame. Intensity data is read from the first field of pixels and the second field of pixels, and an ambient light value is determined for one or more pixels in the image data frame from the intensity data. The ambient light value then is used to adjusting one or more pixels of the data frame for ambient light.
Abstract: Various systems and methods are described for a controlling a flow of reformate fuel in a fuel system which includes a reformer and a storage tank coupled to an engine in a vehicle. The system includes a pump located between the reformer and the storage tank that is selectively operated in order to reduce parasitic losses on the system.
Abstract: An example system for inducting air into an engine includes a compressor and a turbine mechanically coupled to the compressor and driven by expanding engine exhaust. The system also includes high pressure (HP) and low pressure (LP) exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The disclosed system allows EGR to be routed from an HP take-off point to an LP mixing point. Such functionality may be useful in averting compressor surge and increasing EGR flow potential under certain operating conditions.
Abstract: A method for producing attached parts for a motor vehicle, for example doors, dampers, mudguards formed by internal (1) and external (2) sheets. The external sheet (2) is inward bent in the visible areas of the door or attached part, the sheet edges being practically parallel to the plane of attached parts in the invisible (not apparently visible) areas of the door or attached part. The internal sheet (1) is pushed against the external sheet (2) in a flanged area in such a way that a small accurately defined gap for laser welding is produced. The internal (1) and external (2) sheets are welded to each other in the form of an overlap joint in the opposite invisible areas, thereby compensating tolerances.

Abstract: A multi-use snow tool is described, which includes a snow fluke and a snow picket that may be combined to function as a snow shovel, or may be used independent of each other as climbing anchors. Abstract: A method of removing hydrogen sulfide from an emissions stream is disclosed, wherein the method includes directing the emissions stream into a hydrogen sulfide converter having a metal oxide catalyst, adsorbing the hydrogen sulfide in the emissions stream to the metal oxide catalyst in the hydrogen sulfide converter, reacting the hydrogen sulfide with at least one of an oxidant and a reductant in the hydrogen sulfide converter to chemically transform the hydrogen sulfide, and adjusting an air-fuel ratio of the emissions stream based on exhaust temperature of an emission control device, where the adjustment varies a duration of at least one of lean and rich operation to perform the adsorbing and reacting even as exhaust temperature varies.

Abstract: An example engine method utilizes a first intake valve actuated by a first camshaft once every four piston strokes and a second intake valve actuated by a second camshaft once every four piston strokes, but out of phase with the first intake valve actuation, to provide two-stroke operation. Transitions between two and four stroke operation are provided by deactivation and activation of the second intake valve. In this way, the engine may be selectively operated in a two stroke cycle or a four stroke cycle by activating or deactivating one of the intake valves while another of the intake valves continues to operate.

Abstract: The present invention is a dual-stage fuel injection strategy for compression ignition engines in which 15-40% of the fuel is injected into the combustion chamber no later than about ?20 to ?30 CA ATDC and as early as IVC. The remaining fuel is then injected in one or more fuel pulses, none of which start before about ?20 to ?30 CA ATDC. The fuel injected early in the compression stroke forms a lean mixture that burns with low soot and low NOx emissions. The combustion of that fuel serves to increase in-cylinder temperature such that the ignition delay of subsequent fuel injection pulses is short. This mode is utilized when it is predicted that a NOx spike is imminent. Various other alternative methods for reducing NOx spikes are also disclosed such as specialized EGR systems that can provide EGR with low manifold vacuum.
