Patent number: 7444975Abstract: A method of controlling an intake air passage of an internal combustion engine is provided. The intake air passage cyclically communicates to a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine, thereby inducting fresh air into said combustion chamber. The cyclic communication of the intake air passage to the combustion chamber generates a pressure wave in the intake air passage. The method comprises reducing an effective length of a transmission path of the pressure wave in an upstream direction of the intake air passage as a desired air flow to the combustion chamber decreases. In accordance with the method, the effective length of the pressure wave transmission path is reduced as desired air flow decreases. With the reduced effective length, the pressure wave bounces back and forth between ends of the transmission path more often before the next cyclic communication. The more bouncing attenuates the pressure wave at the next cyclic communication.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2007Date of Patent: November 4, 2008Assignee: Mazda Motor CorporationInventors: Shinji Kishi, Shinichi Sugihara, Masashi Marubara, Toshihide Yamamoto

Patent number: 7444806Abstract: An exhaust-carrying component (2) of an exhaust system (1) for an internal combustion engine is provided, in particular for a motor vehicle. The component (2) includes a pipe (4) through which exhaust gas can flow from one longitudinal end (6) to the other longitudinal end (7) and which has between its longitudinal ends (6, 7) a longitudinal section (8), the wall (9) of which is provided with perforations (10). The component (2) also has a housing (5) which surrounds the pipe (4) in a circumferential direction and to which the pipe (4) is fixedly connected in both one end area (11) having a longitudinal end (6) and in another end area (12) having the other longitudinal end (7). In order for the component (2) to nevertheless be able to resist the thermal stresses that occur during operation, the perforations (10) are designed so that the longitudinal section (8) can absorb thermal longitudinal expansion forces between the pipe (4) and the housing (5) through elastic deformation.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2007Date of Patent: November 4, 2008Assignee: J. Patent number: 7445545Abstract: A coin dispensing apparatus is provided that has features to easily adjust the distance between the base plate and the rotating disk and to adapt to the thickness of the coins. The coin dispensing apparatus includes a disk (102) which separates coins one by one. A coin base (104) supports the coins which are moved by the disk. A body (100) includes the base and a step section (149) which provides different distances to the base to adapt to the thickness of the coins. A rotating shaft member (160) is selectively attached to the step section and can be adjusted to the body. The rotating shaft member for rotating the disk is selectively attached at the step section in stages. Therefore the distance between the disk and the base is adjusted to adapt the thickness of coin.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2004Date of Patent: November 4, 2008Assignee: Asahi Seiko Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroshi Abe, Yasuo Irie

Patent number: 7441759Abstract: An elastomeric bush bearing is designed as a slotted bush. To reach a high ratio of static radial stiffness to torsion spring rate along with a high axial stiffness at the same time, a beading is formed at least at one axial end but preferably at both axial ends of the slotted bush. In case of an especially advantageous embodiment, a slotted bush with additional intermediate parts inserted into the elastomeric bearing body, two encapsulated rubber packets are created by the simultaneous special geometric design of the inner part. The individual stiffnesses of the two rubber packets are thus compensated and thus there is a homogeneous increase in the overall stiffness of the bush. The beadings are prepared before the components of the bearing are assembled and vulcanized to the parts of the later outer sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2006Date of Patent: October 28, 2008Assignee: ZF Friedrichshafen AGInventors: Tim-Malte Franke, Christine Schumacher, Claudia Hartfiel, Nicole Cieslack
