Abstract: An internal combustion engine that can be operated in compression ignition mode, comprising a fuel injector (2) for each cylinder; a fuel injection control unit (4) for controlling fuel injection quantity and a piston (5) in each cylinder whose compression action causes a mixture of air and fuel to be ignited. The engine is further provided with inlet and outlet valves (6, 7) and sensors (12-16) for measuring various engine operating parameters, is disclosed. During compression ignition mode, the control unit controls the fuel injector to perform a first fuel injection before, and a second fuel injection after top dead center of the piston stroke during or after a negative valve overlap period. A method for operating the engine and a computer readable storage device (4) having stored therein data representing instructions executable by a computer to implement a compression ignition for an internal combustion engine is also described.

Abstract: A snap connection is provided between a push rod, e.g., of brakes, to an actuating element, e.g., a brake pedal. A fastening clip (2) is detachably fastened to the pedal. The push rod includes a spherical end (10) which can be held in an articulated manner by the fastening clip (2) for transmitting actuating forces. The interior of the fastening clip has two elastically deformable locking lips (4) acting as barbs, which fix the spherical end of the push rod (10) in the pedal (1) after the insertion of the push rod (10) into the fastening clip (2). The fastening clip (2) is preferably a plastic part with essentially closed sides, which are closed off on the pedal side by a front surface with an opening for the spherical end of the push rod. The opening has an insertion area (13) for inserting the spherical end of the push rod (10) and a removal area (14) for removing the push rod (9).

Abstract: A method and a commissioning system are provided for commissioning articles (A1) which are suitable for a central belt in a central belt commissioning system and articles (A2) which are not suitable for a central belt, preferably manually from an article warehouse or shelf (5), wherein articles which are suitable for a central belt (1) are commissioned and automatically fall directly onto the driven central belt (1) in a targeted manner, and at the end of the central belt they fall into a stationary container or immediately into a container (10) arranged on the driven central belt. Abstract: A low cost and mass-producible fire protection zone penetrating member is provided which can be set on piping or the like with a one-touch operation as well as a method of injection-molding the fire protection zone penetrating member. One expanding slot is provided on a cylindrical body made from thermally expanding graphite, thermally expanding rubber, or thermally expanding resin as a main ingredient thereof. The slot extends in a longitudinal direction. A piping inlet section is formed at an entrance of the expanding slot so that piping can be set in or taken out from inside the member by means of a one-touch operation. The fire protection zone penetrating member has the configuration as described above and is manufactured with an injection molding machine. The cylindrical body as a main body of the fire protection zone penetrating member may have an oval cross section, so that the fire protection zone penetrating member can be applied to piping having a diameter in a wide range.
Abstract: A ball and socket joint is provided, preferably for use in vehicles, especially in the area of the chassis of motor vehicles. The ball and socket joint includes a ball and socket joint housing having a joint opening, with a ball pivot, which is arranged in the ball and socket joint housing, extends through the joint opening and with which a shaft is made integral. A support ring is arranged on the shaft of the ball pivot. A sealing element is arranged between the support ring and a connection component surrounding the shaft of the ball pivot. The function of the sealing element is preserved over comparatively long periods of time without being adversely affected by corrosion phenomena in the area of the ball pivot.

Abstract: A method for electric braking of a vehicle trailer and a device for vehicle trailers is provided. The vehicle trailer has a rigid hitch or drawbar arrangement (7) and is braked by the overrun forces generated as a result of braking of the tractor vehicle (2). Abstract: There is provided a method of stopping an internal combustion engine having a combustion chamber and an intake valve which opens during an intake stroke of an engine cycle to allow air to be inducted into the combustion chamber. The method comprises advancing closing timing and reducing a lift of the intake valve to reduce air charged in said combustion chamber and shutting off fuel to the combustion chamber upon a request of engine stop, maintaining a speed of the internal combustion engine within a predetermined range without supplying fuel to the combustion chamber and with the advanced closing timing and the reduced lift of the intake valve at least for one intake stroke of the combustion chamber, and decreasing the speed of the internal combustion engine with the advanced closing timing and the reduced valve lift of the intake valve from the predetermined range.

The actuator resonantly drives a load connected to an end of the output shaft. Abstract: There is provided a method of controlling a power-train of a hybrid electric vehicle comprising an internal combustion engine, a first electric machine directly driven by the internal combustion engine for generating electricity, and a second electric machine driven at least partly with the electricity for driving the vehicle wheel. The method comprises adjusting the speed and adjusting the torque of the internal combustion engine, while substantially maintaining the intake manifold pressure, in response to a change of the desired electricity from the first electric machine. According to the method, the higher engine efficiency can be maintained, because the engine intake manifold pressure is maintained during adjusting the engine speed and torque. The engine speed may be adjusted corresponding to a speed of the first electric machine with higher efficiency and the desired output electricity. Therefore, both the engine and the first electric machine may achieve the respective higher efficiencies.
