  • Patent number: 5544252
Abstract: A rangefinding/autofocusing apparatus utilizes a joint transform correlator of a Fourier correlation optical system. A pair of imaging lens systems form a pair of object input images. A lens driving mechanism drives the imaging lens systems in a parallel manner. The pair of object input images are recorded for display. A reference input image is displayed concurrently along with the recorded object input images in an offset relation relative to each other. A photodetector disposed on the correlation plane of the Fourier correlation optical system detects correlation peaks corresponding to a correlation coefficient of the pair of displayed object input images to measure an interval between the detected correlation peaks. The photodetector also detects correlation peaks corresponding to a correlation coefficient of the reference input image and the object input images to determine a correlation between the reference image and the object.

  • Patent number: 5426060
Abstract: A method of inspecting and a method of manufacturing image sensors formed on a surface of a semiconductor wafer. A semiconductor wafer is provided having image sensors formed on its surface. Grooves are cut at boundaries between image sensors to be inspected, so that each groove has a depth that is smaller than the thickness of the semiconductor wafer. The grooves are cut in the boundaries between the image sensors so that photoN sensing carriers generated in the boundary regions, that are not generated by the image sensor being inspected, do not affect the inspection of the image sensor. The characteristics of the image sensors are inspected before cutting through the semiconductor wafer to form individual image sensors. Thus, in accordance with the present invention, the electrical characteristics of the image sensors can be accurately ascertained either before or after separation from the semiconductor wafer.

  • Patent number: 5406201
Abstract: A magnetic field detecting circuit has a relaxation oscillator SQUID. An oscillator circuit includes a coil and a resistor connected together in series. The oscillator circuit produces an output signal having an oscillating frequency dependent on an applied DC bias current. A magnetic field input circuit is magnetically coupled with the coil of the oscillator circuit for applying a magnetic field. A Josephson device is connected in parallel with the oscillator circuit for converting the magnetic field to an electric signal for varying the oscillating frequency dependent on the magnetic field. The magnetic field is detected by detecting a variation of the oscillating frequency. The sensitivity of the magnetic field detecting circuit is improved by magnetically coupling an RF-SQUID with an input coil to form the magnetic field input circuit.

  • Patent number: 5389996
Abstract: A distance measuring device for a camera has a near infrared light-projecting element for projecting measuring light to be reflected by an object to be photographed. The reflected measuring light is received as a first light beam image at a first position on a surface of a first light-receiving element. The reflected measuring light reflected by the object is also received as a second light beam image at a second position on a surface of a second light-receiving element. A CPU controls the focusing movement of the lens of the camera by computing a distance to the object depending on the first position, compensating the computed distance depending on the second position, and controlling the focusing movement of the lens based on the compensated computed distance. The CPU compares the second position with a predetermined distance value and inhibits the compensation of the computed distance if it is determined that compensation is not necessary.

  • Patent number: 5389888
Abstract: A radiation generator extracts a synchrotron radiation beam from an electron storing ring, through a high-vacuum atmosphere in a beam duct, while preventing loss of the high-level vacuum. A multistage axial-flow arrangement is interposed in the beam duct. Stators and rotors having a plurality of blades are alternately disposed along the axial flow arrangement. The tilt angle of some of the blades of each stator is variable. Loss of the high-level vacuum in the electron storing ring is prevented by tilting the blades having a variable tilt angle so that gas remaining in the rest of the system does not flow upstream to the high-vacuum side of the beam duct at times when the radiation beam is not passing through the beam duct.
