  • Patent number: 5388660
Abstract: A motor bicycle is provided with a main frame supporting a head tube operatively connected a steering shaft of a front wheel. The main frame includes a main tube which is connected to the head tube and extends rearwardly along the main body of the motor bicycle, and the main tube comprises two tube members extending rearwardly from the head tube with a certain angle in bilaterally oblique directions in a plan view. A helmet storage box is disposed in a space between the two tube members, the seat and the head tube so as to have an inner volume sufficient for accommodating a helmet or the like. This arrangement makes it possible to locate a fuel tank below the seat without changing the outer appearance of the motor bicycle.

  • Patent number: 5387434
Abstract: A method of treating surfaces to facilitate removal of graffiti comprises applying a coating of anti-graffiti material to a surface to form a graffiti barrier on the surface.. The anti-graffiti material is substantially free of organic solvents and comprises a water-based material containing waxes, sodium silicate, rosins, gums or combinations thereof. To remove graffiti applied to the coated surface, the surface is power washed with heated pressurized water having a pressure greater than 250 psi, and preferably in excess of 1000 psi. The surface is power washed, as needed, to remove graffiti, and following each one, two or several power washings, the anti-graffiti material is re-applied to the surface.

  • Patent number: 5385423
Abstract: A joint assembly for an arched building structure comprises a non-corrugated flat plate member and at least one corrugated plate member connected to and extending outwardly of the non-corrugated plate member. The corrugated plate member has proximal and distal ends with corrugations extending therebetween and the proximal end abuts the non-corrugated plate member. The corrugations extend in side-by-side relation in a straight line with the line extending in the lengthwise direction of the non-corrugated plate member. The corrugations may have a trapezoidal cross section though corrugations having other shapes may be used.

  • Patent number: 5386220
Abstract: A digital display value adjusting device reliably determines the direction of rotation of a manual input member through a simple calculation for adjusting a digital display value. A plurality of pulse strings are generated by a pulse generator in accordance with the rotation of the manual input member. Pulse state data are generated and temporarily stored for each of the pulse strings. Through a calculation, the change in the state of the pulses is determined using the currently generated pulse state data and the stored pulse state data. The direction of rotation of the input member is determined on the basis of the result of the calculation. The direction of rotation of the input member is determined only when a change in state of a first generated pulse string is successively followed by a change in state of another generated pulse string before another change in state of the first generated pulse string occurs.

  • Patent number: 5378255
Abstract: A method of molding a glass optical element. A supporting member is disposed in contact with a receiving mold part. A gob of molten glass is placed on an end surface of the receiving mold part and pre-molded by spreading out in contact with the end surface so as to form a glass preform. The glass preform supported by the supporting member is then transported to a heating furnace and heated. The heated glass preform supported on the supporting member is then transported to a position between a pair of mold parts and press molded to form a molded optical element. The end surface of the receiving mold part has a shape corresponding to an optical surface of the molded optical element so that in the pre-molding step, the glass preform is formed having a bottom portion having the shape corresponding to the optical surface. An auxiliary mold part can be provided having a molding surface in opposing facing relation with the end surface of the receiving mold part.

  • Patent number: 5377168
Abstract: A timepiece having a mode displaying function includes an external operating member that is rotatable by a user. A sliding pinion rotatable by the external operating member rotates a transmitting gear. A correction transmitting wheel is rotatable by the transmitting gear. A motion control gear is fixed to the correction transmitting wheel. A motion control spring member having a motion control part contacts with a respective motion control face of the teeth of the motion control gear to regulate the rotation of the correction transmitting wheel during the rotation of the motion control gear. A mode displaying plate is rotatable by the correction transmitting wheel and displays the modes of the timepiece. The mode displaying plate is fixed to a display gear which has a plurality of teeth. A spring member has an urging surface for contacting with a respective motion control face of the teeth of the display gear.
