  • Patent number: 6227356
Abstract: A conveyor mat for conveying products in a conveying direction between at least two divert wheels. The conveyor mat comprises a number of rows of side-by-side modules succeeding each other in the conveying direction and extending transversely to the conveying direction. Incorporated into the conveyor mat are a number of guide modules which have their bottom side provided with guide members for cooperation with a guide provided on a conveying track. According to the invention, the guide modules are incorporated into the conveyor mat so as to be substantially equally spaced from one of the lateral edges thereof, such that the guide members together constitute one narrow, slotted guide track extending in conveying direction. In an advantageous manner, the guide modules can be incorporated adjacent a lateral edge of the conveyor mat or in or adjacent the center of the conveyor mat.

  • Patent number: 6144281
Abstract: A plurality of sensing coils are formed by spiral coil electrical conductor sections deposited on a flexible substrate which is formed into a cylindrical form about a central axis. The conductor sections are spaced apart by a distance equivalent to one-quarter of the circumferencial length of the cylindrical form, to define four separate coils spaced apart by 90 degrees. Coil sections are deposited in the register on opposite sides of the substrate and interconnected through the substrate. The coil pattern may be repeated in adjacent areas of the substrate to form a multi-layered coil when a number of turns of the substrate are wound around the central axis.

  • Patent number: 6119951
Abstract: A method for expansion control in a closed fluid circulation system with varying temperature, in which system air is drawn from the circulating fluid through the formation of an air head wherein air to be withdrawn is collected and from which air can be blown off, controlled by a valve, to the environment or a receiving space, while further off, measures are taken for taking up, when the temperature varies, an attendant expansion and shrinking of the fluid within the closed system, and measures for enabling adding fluid to the system, which fluid is withdrawn from an external stock of fluid under pressure, and the air head volume is measured and when a predetermined value is exceeded, a fluid valve is opened through which fluid is introduced into the air head until the volume of the air head is substantially equal to the predetermined value and the fluid valve is closed.

  • Patent number: 6098221
Abstract: Body support having an air core (2, 3; 52) and a bellows (6, 7; 56), integrated into a side edge portion (4, 5) from a compliant filling material, and having compliant filling material in an inner space. The body support further comprises passages (13, 14, 15; 63, 64, 65) which connect the bellows (6, 7; 56) with the air core (2, 3; 52) and connect the bellows (6, 7; 56) and the air core (2, 3; 52) with the surroundings, and comprising valves (16, 17; 67, 70) for blocking in a condition of rest air flow from the air core (2, 3; 52). Because the inner space of the bellows (6, 7; 56) in the condition of rest is in open communication with the surroundings, the compressibility of the bellows filled with filling material is well adapted to the compressibility of adjacent side edge portions, which are also filled with filling material, and the maximum load of the bellows is limited.

  • Patent number: 6087120
Abstract: A process for determining complement activation due to contact between a biomaterial and a complement system, by incubating in vitro the biomaterial with the complement system and determining the formation of a complement convertase by using a substrate of the complement convertase and detecting substrate cleavage. The biomaterial after said incubation with the complement system may be separated therefrom and formation of a complement convertase may be determined with the separated biomaterial, the separated complement system, or both. The complement convertase may be Factor B convertase, C3 convertase or C5 convertase, and the substrate may be a labeled oligopeptide comprising an amino acid sequence corresponding to the cleavage site of the complement convertase. Suitable labels are dyes, fluorochromes, radioactive atoms or groups, and enzymes. Either classical or alternative pathway complement activation, or both, are determined.
