  • Patent number: 6888509
Abstract: A tamper indicating label is provided. The label may include RFID components and a tamper track coupled to the RFID components. The tamper track should be constructed from a destructible conducting path. Additionally, the tamper track can be formed such that it is damaged when the label is tampered. In one embodiment, adhesion characteristics of the tamper track are adapted to break apart the tamper track when the label is tampered, for example, by removal from an object. The RFID components may retain their RF capability and detect when the tamper track has been damaged to indicate that the label has been tampered. Alternatively, the RFID capability of the RFID components may be disabled when the tamper track is damaged, indicating tampering.

  • Patent number: 6885659
Abstract: A voice packet communications system which objectively evaluates the voice quality in real time. Voice packets received from a network are input into an adjustment circuit. The adjustment circuit evens out the periods of the voice packets, detects the drop-out of voice packets, and inserts substitute packets in the voice packet sequence. Furthermore, the adjustment circuit outputs the number of voice packets that have dropped out, the number of substitute packets that have been inserted, and the number of voice packets that have accumulated inside the circuit, as quality information in each monitoring period. A decoding circuit converts the voice packets adjusted by the adjustment circuit into voice information. A judgement circuit calculates an index that indicates the communications quality of the voice packets from the quality information using a specified calculation formula.

  • Patent number: 6835221
Abstract: The present invention has an object to improve the efficiency of collection of solidification constituents and solids in exhaust gas and to prevent early blockage of the filter without damaging the vacuum pump. In an exhaust path 48a, a vacuum pump and exhaust gas filtration device are provided. This exhaust gas filtration device is constituted by a trap device, pre-filter and filter. The pre-filter reduces the exhaust gas flow rate flowing through the interior of the exhaust path by controlling the exhaust gas flow path in the vessel. The aforesaid exhaust path is constituted by connecting this vacuum pump, trap device, pre-filter and filter which are arranged in this order from the side of airtight vessel and connected through piping if required.

  • Patent number: 6834052
Abstract: The band management circuit of the present invention is utilized in a fiber-optic network that uses, for example, ATM-PDS, in order for an SLT to control the transmissions of a plurality of ONU, which are accommodated by this SLT. The band management circuit of the present invention stores one time in a table an identification number, which specifies a multi-point device for which transmission is authorized. An identification number stored in a table is generated by a table generating portion. The table generating portion sequentially generates the identification number of a number of transmission authorizations determined in accordance with a transmission band provided to respective multi-point devices. A write/read control portion sequentially writes to a table identification number data generated by the table generating portion.

  • Patent number: 6800183
Abstract: The invention is intended to provide a sputtering device in which a single sputtering chamber is equipped with a plurality of supports and a target-positioning mechanism for rotating the supports to position the targets into film-forming position. Each support is provided with targets that are different from each other. The same types of targets are mounted in the same order on each support. The supports are rotated to select the same types of targets needed to form a film and to position the targets relative to the substrate. A plurality of the same type of targets are used simultaneously to form a film. The supports are then rotated to select the next targets, and the next film is built up on the previous film. As the film is formed, targets that are not used in the film-forming process can be cleaned with a cleaning device.

  • Patent number: 6793488
Abstract: A fluorescent DNA probes specific to the conserved terminal 3′-noncoding region (nucleotides 10653-10678) of dengue virus and a pair of flanking primers are designed to formulate a dengue specific fluorogenic polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Optimal assay conditions with zero background are disclosed which permit the detection of low levels of dengue virus from clinical specimens. Dengue virus isolates from different geographic regions can be universally detected and identified by the fluorogenic RT-PCR assay. Moreover, the assay is specific for dengue 2 virus and does not recognize other related flaviviruses, including dengue serotypes Louis encephalitis, yellow fever, and Kunjin viruses. The ) 3, and 4, Japanese encephalitis, St. assay also efficiently detected immunocomplexed dengue viruses. The fluorogenic RT-PCR assay readily detected viremia in sera collected from individuals ill with dengue fever.

  • Patent number: 6778603
Abstract: A system and method for shaping the energy spectrum of a pulse train used by a pulse transmission system. The initial temporal and non-temporal characteristics of pulses comprising the pulse train are established using a designed code or a pseudorandom code and the spectral properties of the pulse train are determined. At least one characteristic of at least one pulse of the plurality of pulses that make up the pulse train are modified or at least one pulse is added or deleted to the pulse train and the spectral properties of the modified pulse train are determined. Whether or not the modification to the pulse train improved the energy spectrum relative to acceptance criteria is determined. The pulse train having the most desirable energy spectrum is selected. The optimization process can also iterate and may employ a variety of search algorithms.

  • Patent number: 6738424
Abstract: A method of generating and utilizing a scene model from a sequence of video frames produces a three-dimensional scene model, useful for video processing. The method separates foreground and background data. It uses an estimate of relative motion of an observer to project each frame onto a coordinate system of the three-dimensional scene model. It then merges the background data of a given frame into the scene model.
