  • Patent number: 5687466
Abstract: A maintenance rack device for use in the performance of a maintenance, or service task on large electrical utility equipment known as reclosers. The maintenance rack includes a portable tiered frame structure adapted with tiered service members that support reclosers that have a mechanical configuration equivalent to those known in the power distribution industry as type R, W, 6h and V6H reclosers. The tiered service members include opposing support plates that support a first type of reclosers and which facilitate removal of the recloser head covers to gain access to the recloser mechanism. A second service member includes a rotatable service bar member for attachment to a second type of recloser and subsequently to the frame structure for manipulating the recloser mechanism that is to be serviced. The reclaser maintenance rack eliminates having to use tables, barrels to service the recloser devices.

  • Patent number: 5489043
Abstract: A cylindrical weighted base member for water pipe smoking devices. The weighted base structure is adapted to accommodate an insert member which is designed to detachably retain a tubular vessel member of a pipe smoking device. The insert member is surrounded by a weighted mass, such as cement or similar heavy substance. The insert member facilitates removal of the vessel member to allow the user to better access the lower interior of the tubular vessel member for cleaning purposes. The insert member includes a bottom portion which retains a flexible cup that also provides the primary structure for removably retaining the tubular vessel member. A variation of the weighted base member provides structure that is formed into a storage compartment for storing articles such as a smoking substance.

  • Patent number: 5453742
Abstract: Data compression encoding and decoding circuitry which eliminates the need for decode circuitry that looks for the flux reversal points, or peaks, namely the peak detector and the phase-lock-loop circuitry combination. The encoding circuitry manipulates data by encoding data in a pulse position modulation (PPM) format such that ONE's (1's) in a data stream are delayed a first predetermined time period from the prior flux reversal (transition), and the ZERO's (0's) in the data stream are delayed a predetermined second time period from the previous transition. The encoder includes timing delay calibration circuitry that controls the time difference between transitions representing ONE's and ZERO's. The timing difference being controlled by a phase-lock loop (PLL)/precision crystal oscillator circuit combination that provides a reference delay for use by ASIC delay elements.

  • Patent number: 5444323
Abstract: A novel acoustic broom is provided herein. The acoustic broom comprises an enclosed housing formed of a material which is transparent to wave energy, (e.g., acoustic energy, namely, a synthetic plastic material). A plurality of ceramic, plate-like wave energy (e.g., acoustic energy) generators are disposed within the housing. Each of these generators consists of a cylindrical sub-housing formed of material which is transparent to the wave energy, and each of the ceramic plate-like generators of the wave energy is secured within the cylindrical sub-housing. The circular ends of the cylindrical sub-housing are sealed. Operator means are actuatable to act upon the ceramic plate-like wave energy (e.g., acoustic energy) generators to generate and propagate the wave energy (e.g., the acoustic energy). These operator means usually comprises electrical energy means and electrical connections are provided from the ceramic plate-like wave energy (e.g., acoustic energy) generator to the electric operator.

  • Patent number: 5425168
Abstract: A distributor installation tool for synchronizing valve and ignition timing and for priming an oil pump. The tool is formed having an elongated structure portion that is similar to a gasoline internal combustion engine'distributor shaft and having a head structure that facilitates rotational engine mounting and which provides a marker portion for indicating the relative ignition firing position corresponding to a piston being at top dead center during the compression stroke. The tool finds particular application during rebuilding of an engine where the tool is installed on the engine during adjustment of the intake and exhaust valves. In this particular application, the engine's ignition firing order is tracked by the tool's marker portion during valve adjustment, and other subsequent engine crankshaft movement, prior to installation of the engine's distributor assembly. The tool's marker portion provides a precise mark for installing the distributor shaft and rotor.
