Abstract: A syringe device (1) with an elongate plunger space (2), a receiving chamber (3) for receiving solid medicaments (4), and a hollow needle (5) arranged in the plunger space (2), and also a plunger (7) which is suitable for movement in the plunger space (2) and bears a ram (8) for pushing out the solid medicament (4). For displacement of the plunger (7) there is a plunger rod (9) which acts thereon and, for its use, can be extended telescopically out of the plunger space (2) and relative to the plunger (7) and can be coupled to the plunger by means of a lock (10). The locking of the plunger (7) to the plunger space (2) is opened or released only by complete withdrawal of the plunger rod (9) in its operative position while at the same time the plunger rod (9) is coupled to the plunger (7) in this position in the pushing direction such that the medicament can then be pushed out.
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for a device to quickly determine if data is being sent to it. If no data is being sent to the device, the device may return to a sleep mode so as to conserve energy. The present invention includes organizing and transmitting, one at a time, all device destination identifiers. If a message listing search indicates that no message is being sent for a device, the device can continue with any other activity that needs servicing, or if no other activity is pending, it may shut down to conserve power until the next wake up period arrives. If the search returns a positive indication, the count value when the identifier is found can be used to determine the location of the pointer to the message.
Abstract: A narrow band, tunable antenna uses a series of small inductors wired in series to produce different resonant frequencies from a single antenna across a wide frequency spectrum. Radio Frequency (RF) switches are positioned in parallel with the inductors and are capable of shunting a selected inductor out of the antenna circuit thereby changing the electrical length of the antenna and consequently, the resonant frequency. The RF switch control circuitry is isolated from the RF current in the antenna.
Abstract: The invention provides a method for preparing a membrane electrode of a fuel cell, comprising the steps of preparing diffusion layers, and superimposing the diffusion layers on a proton exchange membrane having a catalyst layer on each surface, wherein the method for preparing the proton exchange membrane having a catalyst layer on each surface comprises the steps of: filling a catalyst slurry containing a catalyst and a bonding agent between two polymer films, and pressing the polymer films filled with the catalyst slurry to obtain a catalyst layer; and superimposing the catalyst layer on each surface of a proton exchange membrane. The method of the present invention can control the thickness of the catalyst layers by pressing during preparation thereof, therefore, the catalyst layers have an even thickness and surface.

Abstract: A camshaft adjuster (1) having a variable ratio gear unit (2). Usually, a drive movement of an electrical actuating assembly (7) is transmitted into a variable ratio gear unit (2) of a camshaft adjuster (1) on the side which faces away from the camshaft (6). According to the invention, the abovementioned drive movement is transmitted in from the side of the variable ratio gear unit (2) which faces the camshaft (6). As a result, a further assembly, for example a vacuum pump, can be driven by the variable ratio gear unit (2) on the side of the variable ratio gear unit (2) which has become free and faces away from the camshaft (6). An actuating shaft (4) of the actuating assembly (7) is preferably mounted via a bearing (34) which is supported on a circumferential face of the camshaft (6). This results in a reduced axial overall size of the camshaft adjuster and extended possibilities for the arrangement of an actuating assembly and the connection of additional assemblies.
Abstract: To enhance capacity expansion property of a storage system for providing a thin provisioning volume, this invention provides a computer system including: a first storage system; and a second storage system for providing a second volume to the first storage system. The first storage system is configured to: define at least one first volumes; define a first storage pool including the defined first volume and the provided second volume; provide to the host computer a first thin provisioning volume that is recognized as a volume having a capacity equal to or larger than that of storage areas assigned from the first storage pool. The first thin provisioning volume is thus assigned with both storage areas of the first volume and storage areas of the second volume, which are included in the first storage pool.
Abstract: A method and system for recharging a battery power supply unit is provided. During the recharging of a battery power supply unit for a bicycle electronic device, the power supply unit is electrically disconnected from the electronic device and receives recharging energy from a first power supply circuit of a battery charger. The battery charger comprises a second power supply circuit which, during the recharging of the battery power supply unit, supplies the electronic device. In such a manner, the first power supply circuit is intended only for recharging the battery power unit and the recharging is hence optimized.
Abstract: An electromagnetic actuator for a hydraulic directional control valve is provided. The electromagnetic actuator is used for adjusting a hydraulic directional control valve, for example, for the variable adjustment of the control times of an internal combustion engine. The electromagnetic actuator includes a housing (08) with which the electromagnetic actuator is mounted opposite the hydraulic directional control valve. The electromagnetic actuator further includes a coil (01) that is arranged in a coil body (03). The electromagnetic field that can be generated with the coil (01) acts on an armature (09) that is arranged in the electromagnetic actuator so that it can move axially. In order to prevent that the hydraulic medium of the hydraulic directional control valve leaks from reaching the electromagnetic actuator, the actuator includes a seal (13; 24) between the coil body (03) and the housing (08). The coil body has a holder (26, 28) for holding the seal (24).
Abstract: A photograph device is provided. The photograph device includes a body, a lens device mounted on the body, and an illuminating device mounted on the body and surrounding the lens device.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for segmenting medium access control (MAC) service data units (SDUs) creates enhanced MAC-es PDUs in the enhanced MAC-e/es sub-layer by concatenating MAC SDUs received from the logical channels. An enhanced transport format combination (E-TFC) selection entity controls the concatenation of MAC SDUs into enhanced MAC-es PDUs. When a MAC SDU is received that is too large to fit into a selected enhanced MAC-es PDU payload, a segmentation entity segments the MAC SDU such that the MAC SDU segment fills the remaining payload available in the selected enhanced MAC-es PDU. The enhanced MAC-es PDU is then assigned a transmission sequence number (TSN) and multiplexed with other enhanced MAC-es PDUs to create a single enhanced MAC-e PDU that is transmitted on the E-DCH in the next transmission time interval (TTI). A HARQ entity stores and, if necessary retransmits the enhanced MAC-e PDU when a transmission error occurs.

Abstract: A subscriber access unit includes a transceiver for providing wireless communication of digital signals. The digital signals are communicated to a base station using at least one radio frequency (RF) channel via Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) modulated radio signals defined by orthogonal codes. Orthogonal subchannels are made available by the base station within each CDMA RF channel. A bandwidth manager is connected to the transceiver, and when the transceiver is actively sending data, at least one orthogonal subchannel is allocated by the base station on an as-needed basis. The number of orthogonal subchannels being allocated changes during a given session. The transceiver, when powered on but not actively sending data, provides an idling mode connection on a reverse link. The idling mode connection is based on an orthogonal subchannel shared with at least one other subscriber access unit, but utilizes different time slots of the shared orthogonal subchannel.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for providing an automatic handoff process of a dual-mode user equipment (UE) from either a wireless local area network (WLAN) to a universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) or from a UMTS to a WLAN. Handoffs may be initiated by the UE, based upon user preference, signal quality, comparison of location coordinates of the UE and the system to be switched to or signal quality. The available channels of one system may be sent to the UE by the other system or the UE may monitor channels of the system to be switched to and lock on to one. The handoff may also be initiated by the UMTS, the selection being power-based.
