Abstract: A suction head in fluid communication with a pump head provides a sub-ambient working pressure to a target area, enabling drainage thereof to a waste container. The pump head is coupled non-mechanically to a pump drive. A control system for a suction system is also provided.
Abstract: A shelf support including a rod portion and a seating portion extending therefrom is provided. The rod portion is adapted for fixing to a support wall. The seating portion includes a spiral-shaped outer surface which constitutes a plurality of support surfaces for supporting a bottom portion of a shelf, where, when the rod portion is fixed to the support wall and the bottom portion of the shelf is disposed above the seating portion, rotation of the shelf support causes a portion of the spiral-shaped outer surface to engage the bottom portion of the shelf.
Abstract: A front tow extended saddle is disclosed. The saddle allows a first towing truck to mount a second truck, facing forward, behind the first truck, in order to tow the second truck to a distant location. The saddle allows the towed truck to face forward during transport, thus allowing for the normal loads and stresses of movement on the towed truck. This configuration is preferable to movement with the towed truck facing-rearward, in which the typical aerodynamic surfaces of a large truck act as a drag during transport, imposing high wind loads and unusual stresses. The front tow extended saddle is also designed to minimize the required vertical rise on the towed truck, which also avoids additional stresses during loading and unloading onto the towing truck.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an HBV vaccine comprising an entire hepatitis B surface antigen of L protein, M protein and S protein, in which the produced antigens form virus-like particles, and a multi-antigen vaccine further comprising an HBV core antigen in addition to the entire surface antigen, and a method for preparing the same. The vaccines provide various epitopes and have excellent immunogenicity to induce a strong humoral immune response as well as a cell-mediated immune response.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an adjuvant comprising a lipopeptide and poly I:C. When the adjuvant of the present invention is used, the level of antigen specific antibody induction is synergistically increased and Th1 type immune response is also induced. Therefore, the adjuvant of the present invention can be very effectively used as an adjuvant in the formulation of preventive and therapeutic vaccines for viral or parasitic infection and cancer.

Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions including a herpes simplex virus derived composite oncolytic vector are provided for the treatment of solid tumors in an individual. The HSV-derived composite oncolytic vector includes an HSV-derived amplicon defective viral genome carrying at least one toxic foreign gene, and an HSV-derived mutant helper virus vector that has a mutation in the vhs-1 gene. An HSV-derived mutant helper virus vector that has a mutation in the vhs-1 gene is also provided. A method for the treatment of an individual having a solid tumor is provided and includes administering an HSV-derived amplicon defective viral genome including at least one toxic foreign gene, and an HSV-derived mutant helper virus vector including a mutation in the vhs-1 gene.
Abstract: An energy absorber for use in an opening of a wall of a building, the opening defined by a perimeter surface, the wall supporting a closure substantially filling the opening, the closure having respective edges which are substantially parallel to the perimeter surface of the opening. The energy absorber having a planar wall connecting portion, a planar closure connecting portion and a plastically deformable deforming surface therebetween. The connecting portions being substantially parallel to one another and, the deforming surface adapted to absorb, by plastic deformation, a force applied to the closure.
Abstract: The present invention generally concerns cell therapy and products for use in such therapy. Particularly, the invention provides a preserved cell preparation essentially free of one or more members of a group of cryoprotecting agents consisting of polyalcohols, DMSO and cryoprotecting proteins, the preserved cell preparation comprising somatic cells and at least one polyphenol, wherein upon reconstitution of cells in the cell preparation, at least a portion of said stem cells are viable, said portion being sufficient for use of the cell preparation in stem cell therapy. The invention also provides cells reconstituted from preserved somatic cells, and the use of the reconstituted cells in cell therapy. A preferred cell preparation in accordance with the invention comprises stem cells, preferably human stem cells.
Abstract: An apparatus for freezing a biological sample in a container while it moves along a cooling axis is provided. The apparatus has at least one set of two cooling plates with inner surfaces having a first plate dimension perpendicular to the axis, and a second plate dimension parallel to the axis. The inner surfaces define a passage therebetween with a width that corresponds to the container thickness and which is no larger than the first plate dimension. A method for cooling using the apparatus is also provided.

Abstract: A low profile saddle mount for use in the transportation of vehicles including a saddle body configuration capable of withstanding increased load capacity over conventional saddle mounts is disclosed. The saddle mount generally includes a pair of laterally spaced support plates and a substantially tubular cross member extending therebetween. Each of the support plates is at least partially disposed inside the cross member at opposing ends thereof and secured therein using at least one dampening or filler plate. The configuration of the support plates in combination with one or more filler plate provides limited yield/deflection of the saddle body during operation and provides a load dissipation function, thereby permitting the support plates to withstand an increased load capacity.
Abstract: This invention relates to a connector, particularly to a shackle suitable for use in connecting two links of a chain or a chain to an anchor, more particularly to a connector comprising a first portion and a second portion, at least one first connector arm on the first portion and at least one second connector arm on the second portion, wherein both the first and second connector arms have multiple bearing surfaces, preferably six, and are able to engage one another when the connector is coupled by means of the bearing surfaces. The connector of the present invention has the advantage of having a break load of 1.3[0.0274 d2(44?0.08 d) kN, wherein d is the nominal diameter, and preferably a thickness of 1.3 d.
