  • Patent number: 6383271
Abstract: An anti-corrosive coating composition suitable for providing corrosion protection for a sheet metal substrate includes from 20 to 97 wt. % of a filler dispersed in a polymeric base or matrix material. The filler includes at least one filler material having a hollow cellular structure, of which the hollow cells are loaded with organic and/or inorganic inhibitors and/or antioxidants. The hollow cellular structure material may be diatomaceous earth, zeolite, or carbon. The inhibitors and/or antioxidants may be selected from carbonic acids, amines, ketones, aldehydes, heterocyclic compounds, phosphates, benzoates, silicates, vanadates, tungstates, zirconates, borates, molybdates, benzaldehyde, vitamin C, vitamin E, or the like. A long term durable corrosion protection is achieved because the inhibitors and/or antioxidants are released from the hollow cells of the filler material in a dosed time-release manner over the operating lifetime of the anti-corrosive coating.

  • Patent number: 6382561
Abstract: A trailing edge wedge for an aircraft wing is attached to a bottom downwardly facing wing surface along the trailing edge of the wing so that an inner edge wedge surface is fully covered by the bottom wing surface. When the edge wedge is secured to a bottom surface of a wing, the wedge tip faces in the flight direction. The inner edge wedge surface and an opposite outer edge wedge surface enclose a wedge angle within the range of about 5° to about 20°. The edge wedge compensates for asymmetric aircraft characteristics due to unavoidable manufacturing tolerances.

  • Patent number: 6378806
Abstract: A door for an enclosed space under pressure, such as an aircraft cabin, has redundant door stops secured to the door edges and cooperating with redundant frame stops secured to a door frame in an aircraft body. The door stops and the frame stops are arranged in pairs. A first pair of stops is effective under normal operating conditions to keep the door in a sealed position in the door frame. A second pair which is not transmitting any loads under normal operating conditions, becomes effective immediately when one and/or both stop components of the first pair fails. For this purpose the stop member and stop element forming the second pair are normally spaced from each other by a gap that is small enough to close instantly in response to failure of the first pair of stops.

  • Patent number: 6378558
Abstract: A valve (1) on the basis of electrorheological and/or magnetorheological fluids includes a fluid inlet channel (3) connected through a valve gap (5) to a fluid outlet channel (4). The valve gap is filled with an electrorheological and/or magnetorheological fluid and is bounded by bounding surfaces that are embodied as electrically energizable capacitor electrodes and/or coil arrangements, whereby the field excitation thereof acts on the fluid flowing through the valve gap. At least one bounding surface of the valve gap is embodied to be movable selectively toward and away from another bounding surface, so as to superimpose a squeeze mode and a flow mode of the electrorheological and/or magnetorheological effect. The valve gap may define a meandering or spiral flow path for the fluid. In this manner, a compact valve can provide high blocking pressures and high through-flow rates.

  • Patent number: 6367935
Abstract: A method for the elimination of image speckles in a scanning laser projection is suggested, in which a phase hologram is used for dividing the illumination beam of the projector into partial beams. The partial beams are heterodyned again on the image screen within the image element (pixels) to be projected in such a way that differing speckle patterns are formed which average each other out in the eye of the viewer over time and/or space. Thus, a device is provided especially for the laser projection which substantially eliminates or reduces the speckles at the viewer. However, the beam form and the beam density are hardly or not changed.

  • Patent number: 6367511
Abstract: A ground warp thread sheet and a pile warp thread sheet are supplied to a shed forming device. Two stop motions on separate planes respectively monitor the pile warp and the ground warp. The ground warp and the pile warp are deflected over a deflecting rod upstream from the shed forming device. The deflecting rod supports the ground warp and directs the pile warp to cross and interpenetrate through the ground warp before being deflected into the back shed. The vertices of the ground warp and pile warp back sheds are thus located on opposite sides of the deflecting rod. The pile warp crosses through the ground warp directly upstream from the deflecting rod, at a steep angle, for example from 45 to 135 °.

  • Patent number: 6368718
Abstract: An anti-corrosive coating for structural steel components contains 3 to 80 wt. % of a binder including polymeric material, and 20 to 97 wt. % of a filler including semiconductive elements or compounds. A process for welding a steel component coated with such an anti-corrosive coating involves temporarily energizing the semiconductive material of the coating into its conductive state and then carrying out the welding process, e.g. electric spot welding, while the semiconductive material is in the conductive state. Thereby, the coating does not hamper the electric welding operation. The step of energizing the semiconductive material is achieved by temporarily applying an external energy such as localized heating or incident light radiation having a photon energy corresponding to an energy band gap of the semiconductive material.

  • Patent number: 6363660
Abstract: A security window or security door that impedes forced entry or penetration by projectiles includes a jamb frame (2) and a panel frame (3) that is pivotably mounted in the jamb frame. The jamb frame and the panel frame are constructed from hollow profile members (5, 6, 8, 9) having hollow chambers (17, 18) extending longitudinally therein and including solid edge portions (14, 15). The solid edge portion (14) of the jamb frame (2) overlaps the solid edge portion (15) of the panel frame (3) in an overlap area (25) when the door or window is closed, while leaving a convoluted or non-linear gap (16) between the jamb frame and the panel frame through the overlap area. Inserts (23, 24) that help impede forced entry and/or bullet penetration can optionally be disposed in the respective hollow chambers, to easily adapt the degree of security provided by the door or window to the security requirements of any particular situation.

  • Patent number: 6365879
Abstract: A wafer holder includes a heater interposed between at least one pair of ceramic base members. The wafer holder can be regarded as including a holding surface side structure on a side of the heater facing toward the wafer, and a backside structure on the opposite side of the heater. The backside structure has a heat insulating character. The ceramic base member in the backside structure is formed of ceramic having a lower heat conductivity than that of the ceramic base member in the holding surface side structure. Further, the ceramic base member in the backside structure has a heat conductivity of 100 W/mK or less and a joint layer has a heat conductivity of 10 W/mK or less. In this way, the wafer holder prevents heat from spreading toward the backside of the wafer holder.
