Patent number: 4464575Abstract: A test device for a multiple channel infra red detector utilizing photocells comprising an aperture plate mounted on the housing member of the detector. In the embodiment described a test lamp is mounted on a surface portion of the aperture plate in fixed relationship with two openings in the plate which are concentrically disposed about the two photocells. The test system utilizes the characteristic of the dual channel detector that the ratio of the response of each of the two cells to emissions in the infra red range (as received from a fire) is a certan value. The opening associated with one of the cells is larger in the path between the lamp and that cell so that more light energy impinges on it. The electrical energy to the lamp is increased until a level is reached where the ratio of the response of the one cell to the response of the other cell simulates the responses of the two when monitoring a fire. The warning system is triggered.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1983Date of Patent: August 7, 1984Assignee: Firetek CorporationInventors: John M. Cholin, Jeffrey G. Cholin, Ray Voorhis

Patent number: 4432914Abstract: There is disclosed an improved mass transfer or gas-liquid contact device having a specially contoured grid member(s) interposed in the gas flow of the device. Ideally the grid member(s) has a cross-sectional profile which equals the sum of the theoretical velocity pressure profile of the gas flowing in an open vessel and the static and dynamic heads of the contacting liquid. An additional depth is added to the grid approximately 5 to 40% more, to create an energy imbalance in favor of the introduced liquid, thereby allowing it to drain. In existing vessels where it is desirable to replace prior art devices with an apparatus embodying the present invention, a plurality of grid modules may be employed, each module including a shaped grid or grid pair approximating the velocity profile of the gas stream in each.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1983Date of Patent: February 21, 1984Assignee: Kenneth C. Patent number: 4431222Abstract: There is disclosed a waste collector which is formed from a generally flat rectangular cardboard form. The form includes predetermined fold lines, including a first one, disposed longitudinally and centrally on the blank and other groups of lines which, when folded thereabout, form first and second cooperating jaw members. The collector is creased inwardly at the first fold line towards the volume enclosed by the cooperating jaw members. When finger pressure is applied transversely to the oppositely disposed longitudinal edges, this results in the first and second cooperating jaw members closing towards each other to retain the animal feces. A release of the applied finger pressure allows the jaw members to open. The oppositely disposed longitudinal edges include cutout sections which facilitate the movement of the jaw members towards and away from each other.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1981Date of Patent: February 14, 1984Inventor: Thomas B.
