  • Patent number: 8281729
Abstract: A drainage system is provided for a livewell compartment within a fishing boat. A flexible and reinforced hose is coupled on a first end to a pump assembly associated with the livewell and extends through an aperture in the boat hull to a second end. A seal interfaces the hose and the hull in association with the aperture. Fluid is delivered from the livewell through the hose to the exterior of the boat through the second end of the hose. The hose includes a compression or tension spring which applies a first longitudinal force with respect to the second end of the hose. The hose is effective to extract from the hull in response to a second longitudinal force applied to the hose and greater than the first force, and is retractable toward the hull in the absence of the second force.

  • Patent number: 8278835
Abstract: A modular electronic ballast is provided for powering a fluorescent lamp. A motherboard is configured to receive an AC input signal, one or more supplemental input signals and a feedback signal from the lamp. A ballast control circuit generates an output signal for an oscillating inverter driving the lamps. • Patent number: 8274237
Abstract: An LED driver circuit is provided for protecting one (or more) LEDs connected in series from over-current damages which may result from a short circuit condition. The driver circuit includes a current control circuit for receiving an input signal from a power source and providing a current output for powering the LED. A voltage sensor detects a voltage across the LED. An LED current restriction circuit such as a switching element restricts a current flow into the LED. A short circuit response circuit controls the LED current restriction circuit dependent on a comparison between the voltage detected by the voltage sensor and a predetermined threshold value. When the detected voltage is less than or equal to the threshold value, the response circuit determines a short circuit, and a signal is sent to the current restriction circuit to restrict current flow into the one or more LEDs.

  • Patent number: 8274234
Abstract: An electronic ballast is provided for powering one or more discharge lamps independently connected in parallel. An inverter having a pair of switching elements converts a DC supply signal into AC power. A transformer has a primary winding coupled to an output terminal of the inverter. A load circuit includes independently operable discharge lamp circuits coupled in parallel with each other and across a secondary winding of the transformer. An inductance control circuit includes an inductive element coupled in series with the primary winding of the transformer and a bi-directional switch coupled in parallel across the inductive element. A switch state of the bi-directional switch is controllably adjustable between first and second switch states and in accordance with a desired duty ratio. A magnitude of a voltage across the secondary winding of the transformer and thereby across each lamp circuit is dependent on the switch state of the bi-directional switch.

  • Patent number: 8267483
Abstract: A shank bit, in particular a road milling bit, having a carrier part (10) that comprises a shank (11), the shank (11) carrying a bit tip (18) made of hard material, the carrier part comprising, in the region between the shank and the bit tip, a receiving portion (14) on which a head part is held (30), and the head part comprising a circumferential chip discharge surface (34.1) tapering in a direction toward the bit tip. In order to enable a shank bit of this kind to be designed in wear-optimized fashion, the head part is held rotatably with respect to the carrier part.

  • Patent number: 8258712
Abstract: An electronic ballast circuit includes a striation reduction circuit that can create an asymmetry in a lamp power signal that powers a gas-discharge lamp. The striation reduction circuit may have first and second circuit paths to cause the asymmetry in the lamp power signal. The first circuit path transmits the AC component signal of an input signal associated with an AC voltage while the second circuit path transmits a DC component signal. A non-linear component in the second circuit path is utilized to generate a harmonic component signal. AC component signal, DC component signal, and harmonic component signal are superimposed onto one another to cause an asymmetry in the lamp power signal that powers the gas discharge lamp.

  • Patent number: 8253351
Abstract: A control means has an adjustment function in a microprocessor to adjust variations in an output to a discharge lamp due to variations in components by correcting a duty ratio of a PWM signal for varying an operating frequency of an inverter circuit so that a detected value of a second detection circuit falls within a target range. The microprocessor switches paths to transmit the PWM signal between a path passing through a feedback circuit and a path passing through a voltage follower circuit by switches a switch circuit to supply the signal through the path passing through the voltage follower circuit in adjusting output variations in the preheating mode and the starting mode.
