Abstract: A mechanism for opening and closing a large one piece rectangular overhead gate includes vertical jamb members on each side of the gate, horizontal track members located near the top of each side of the gate, track rollers fastened to the gate and carried on the track members, kicker wheel brackets attached to each jamb member each including a main pivot, an upper spring mounting member above the pivot, spring arm members fastened to said pivots and a kicker wheel mounted above the upper spring mounting member, a lower spring mounting member near the lower end of each jamb member, coil springs attached between upper and lower spring mounting members and an electric motor attached to the top of the gate to raise and lower the gate.
Abstract: A roof jack or vent seal which is unitarily vacuum formed of polypropylene synthetic rubber polymer and a U.V. stabilized pigment and which has a planar roof covering with a central upstanding frusto-conical section including stepped graduated portions, with the region between each graduated portion capable of flexing to accommodate differences in the roof pitch.
Abstract: A fire fighting foam proportioner for use in providing precise proportioning of foam to fire fighting liquid, e.g. water, is disclosed. It includes a tank for the storage of foam concentrate which is loaded using a hand pump. The storage tank is coupled to a fire fighting line through a differential pressure responsive valve in the fire fighting line and a proportioning valve used to select the foam concentration desired, for example 0.2 to 1 percent of the fire fighting liquid. The differential pressure responsive valve applies discharge pressure to the foam concentrate as a function of the fluid flow through the line and therefore provides precise flow concentration maintenance despite changes if flow and line pressure. The differential pressure responsive valve includes to coaxial valving members and low and high pressure ports which are coupled to control the discharged pressure to the tank. The proportioner valve include a rotor with a continuous variable groove for precise control.
Abstract: A resilient plastic buckle assembly utilizes a pair of identical bases for connecting a receptacle and for connecting a clasp to a belt or the like. Bosses and slots on the receptacle and clasp guide the insertion of the clasp into the receptacle and insure their correct relative orientation. Cantilevered latching wings integral with the body of the clasp engage openings in the receptacle and are manually depressible to release the clasp from the receptacle.
Abstract: An improved catheter comprising a tubular body of flexible material designed for medical use and insertion into a body cavity. The catheter includes at least one opening towards the distal end for the drainage of fluids or their introduction or for monitoring pressures from the body cavity and at least one integral, flexible wing member attached to the outer wall of the catheter and flexible to extend outward and bear against the inner wall of the body cavity to be served by the catheter. In the preferred embodiment, two oppositely located wings are formed integrally into the catheter. An insertion and withdrawal tube is dimensioned to slide over the catheter and hold the wings close against the outer wall of the catheter to facilitate introduction and removal from a body cavity. The distal end of the tube is tapered to aid in deforming the wings into the catheter aligned retracted position.
Abstract: An adjustable shock absorber includes a valve in the piston which has a flow path. The valve can be adjusted both rotationally and longitudinally to alter different characteristics of the flow path.
Abstract: A method for producing a resilient element such as a thin flat plate or disc spring, commonly known as a "Belleville" spring is disclosed. The spring is capable of deflecting along an axis normal to its surface is modified in the process to include an amplifying segment disposed in a central aperture in the form of an approximately "W" shaped strip connected at its ends to opposite positions on the inner margin of the central opening. The central portion of the "W" forms an inverted "U" which is subjected in the process, after positioning within the central aperture, to torquing stress in the plane of the material to bring the ends of the open end of the "U" slightly closer together than the inner edges of the "U" nearest its closed end. One of a pair of switch contacts is affixed to the closed end of the "U" shaped portion of the device in position to be opposite another contact carried on the switch bases.
Abstract: An improved pedestal base for beds including drawers particularly of the type which may be transported and stored in a totally flat condition and assembled by the user without the use of any tools. The base is designed so that it is adjustable to fit under the various bed sizes. It includes a pair of longitudinal rails defining drawer openings and head and foot frame members which are segmented and assembled by keys or splines. The number of segments in the head and foot frame portions defines the width of the assembled bed. The key joints are assembled merely by placing the two members to be joined together in position and slipping the keying member into the corresponding slots. Preferably a double dovetail or hour glass joiner is used. Drawers fit into the frame and are located beneath the bed proper which is sitting on top of the frame. Drawers are comprised of a front, a back, two sides and a bottom.

Abstract: An improved holster comprising a sheet of compressible material or a composite including a compressible layer formed into a pouch to hold a handgun with an edge seam at the rear. At the front inside of the holster is a stiffener member secured to the holster sheet material by at least one generally vertical stitch line. The stitch line distorts the compressible material and the stiffening member to form a front groove for receiving the barrel and front sight of the handgun. A protective sleeve may cover the stiffener. An improved universally adjustable strap arrangement includes hook and pile type fabric on an inner face of a belt loop formed in the holster body and the mating hook and pile material on one face of the flat strap. The angle and length of the strap may be adjusted by relative movement of the strap within the belt loop. Securement of one end of the strap results from engagement of the hook and pile fabric and is insured by pressure from the wearer's belt when worn.

Abstract: An improved cartridge belt, the outer surface of which carries two superimposed cartridge loops with at least the inner loops elastic and stretched to lie flat against the belt when not in use. The outer cartridge loops may be elastic or inelastic but dimensioned to carry larger diameter cartridges. The top edges of the belt loops are aligned so that rim edge support for larger cartridges is provided at both the outer and inner sides of the belt loop.
