Abstract: In order to manufacture shaped tubular articles of plastics material, a semi-finished tube of softened plastics which is substantially straight and has a diameter about equal to the diameter of the article to be formed is introduced into a mould defining a cavity which is substantially straight. Subsequently, the mould is operated so as to deform the cavity and give it a shape corresponding to the shape of the article to be formed.

Abstract: A decorative synthetic composite panel having a reinforced base portion comprised of a plurality of layers of fiber glass mat impregnated with a polyester resin, an overlying resin impregnated graphic print sheet, and a transparent resin overlay.

Abstract: An auto-directing lever lock includes a case housing a cylinder (4) with a plug (3) mounted for movement therein. The plug includes a keyway (14) for accepting a key bit (7). A keyway opening (15) on the surface of the plug provides access for lever tumblers (6) to engage lever steps on the key bit. The key bit is detachable from a bow and shank section (8), and inserted in to the keyway through a key hole (39) in the case. The tumblers ride on a surface of the plug and are held away from the lever steps of the key bit during rotation of the plug, until the tumblers disengage the plug surface due to the keyway opening therein. The tumblers, when disengaged from the plug surface, fall onto the lever steps of the key bit to align gatings (32) of the tumblers so a bolt stump (28) may pass therethrough to retract a bolt (5) of the lock.

Abstract: A wrench construction wherein the wrench can be formed from an injection molded plastic material, and includes a handle and respective first and second head members extending from the ends of the handle. One of the head members is larger than the other, and each head member defines at least a part of a regular polygon adapted to be drivingly engageable and disengageable with a fastener element, such as a nut or bolt. Each of the head members and the handle is of generally U-shaped cross-section and includes a plurality of transverse stiffner members that extend from the base of the U and across the legs thereof to provide desired strength and rigidity of the structure at light weight.

Abstract: A front piece for safety ski bindings having a sole holder adapted to be pivoted sideways against the force of a spring and serving to support the ski boot sole sideways and towards the front, a pedal for actuating a control mechanism which maintains the release resistance at least approximately constant and independent of the variable pressure applied to the pedal.

Abstract: A toe piece for safety ski-bindings, which toe piece can pivot outwardly in a sideways direction against a biasing force if excessive lateral forces occur. A supporting member (8) is connected to two side holding members (9,10) adapted to support the sole of the boot in lateral and frontal directions. The support member (8) forms the coupling means of a linkage quadrangle which can pivot laterally. The side holding members (9,10) extend beyond the point where they are mounted to the support member. Each side holding member is releasably locked by means of a lever (27,28) mounted on the extensions thereof. A locking member (14) cooperative with the levers is adapted to release the appropriate side holding member when the linkage moves beyond a predetermined distance from center.

Abstract: A relatively thin, hand-held tool for abrading, sanding or polishing a workpiece comprised of an elongated body constructed to carry a flexible, endless strip longitudinally therebout. The body includes handlike portion and a workpiece engaging portion, which define the path. Means associated with the handle portion are provided to align said strip with respect to the workpiece engaging portion. The body further includes means for releasably holding the strip under tension in contact with the path.

Abstract: A toe piece for a safety ski binding comprised of a base plate, and a pair of elongated, generally parallel side members each pivotally mounted at one end to the base plate. A connecting link having a detent depression pivotally connects the other ends of the side members to each other to form a linkage. The linkage is laterally movable about the pivotably mounted ends of the side members relative to the base plate. A pair of side jaws for laterally holding the sole of the ski boot are pivotally connected to the connecting link and are movable between a holding position and a release position. A lever is positioned between the side jaws and is pivotally connected to the connecting link.

Abstract: A coin mechanism for vending machines comprising a coin receptacle, a detector for unlocking a dispensing mechanism only when a coin of the proper size is received in the receptacle, and a coin retaining device for retaining coins deposited in the mechanism only when a selected product has been properly dispensed from the machine. The detector includes a wall defining part of a coin slot, a window in the wall, a coin holding lever for holding coins across the window only when such coins are of the proper denomination, and a detector arm for entering the window when it is open to prevent the actuation of the product dispensing mechanism and for enabling the actuation of the dispensing mechanism when the window is closed by a coin.

Abstract: A mixing blade assembly including a hub, a set of impeller blades having air foil configurations and flat end portions for attachment to corresponding flat surfaces of mounting members which attach the blades to the hub. The flat attachment surfaces avoid stresses tending to distort the blades. The hub is a hollow member made from a set of plates. The leading edges of the blades are generally straight, and the trailing edges are inclined rearwardly from the tips towards the roots of the blades.

Abstract: Sulfur-containing, oil-soluble compositions are described which are useful as lubricating oil additives, particularly in lubricants containing little or no phosphorus. In one embodiment, the compositions of the invention comprise (A) at least one metal salt of at least one dithiocarbamic acid of the formulaR.sub.1 (R.sub.2)N--CSSH (I)wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently hydrocarbyl groups in which the total number of carbon atoms in R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is sufficient to render the metal salt oil-soluble, and (B) at least one oil-soluble sulfurized Diels-Alder adduct. Lubricating oil compositions containing the compositions of the invention exhibit improved oxidation-corrosion-inhibiting properties, anti-wear properties, and/or extreme pressure properties. Such lubricating compositions containing less than about 0.1% by weight of phosphorus also exhibit good compatability with nitrile seals.

Abstract: Aqueous systems also are described which comprise at least about 40% of water and an N-acrylated amino hydrocarbyl sulfonic acid or salt composition characterized by the presence within the structure of an imido group or at least one acyl acyloxy or acylimidoyl group attached to the amino nitrogen, said groups being derived from the carboxylic acid groups contained in(a) maleic acid or anhydride, or(b) a hydrocarbyl-substituted polycarboxylic acid or anhydride.The amino hydrocarbyl sulfonic acid or salt compositions are useful as emulsifiers, thickeners, dispersants, etc. in the aqueous systems.

Abstract: Reaction products of boric acid or boron trioxide with an epoxide having at least 8 carbon atoms (especially a straight-chain aliphatic epoxide) are useful anti-wear, friction modifying and rust inhibiting additives for lubricants. They are particularly useful in lubricants containing relatively large amounts of basic alkaline earth metal phenates or salicylates and/or free hydroxy group-containing alkenylsuccinic acid ester dispersants.

Abstract: Combinations of certain hydroxy amines, particularly the "Ethomeens," and hydrocarbon-soluble carboxylic dispersants are useful as engine and carburetor detergents for normally liquid fuels. The preferred compositions are those in which the carboxylic dispersants are the reaction products of substituted succinic acids with polar compounds, especially with amines such as ethylene polyamines.

Abstract: Magnesium-containing complexes are prepared by heating a mixture of magnesium hydroxide, magnesium oxide, hydrated magnesium oxide or a magnesium alkoxide; a carboxylic acid, a sulfonic acid,a pentavalent phosphorus acid, or an ester or salt of any of these; water; and an organic solubilizing agent (which may be liquid or solid at ambient temperature) for the acid or ester. The amount of magnesium is such as to provide a basic composition.
