Abstract: A natural antioxidant blend in the form of an amphorous powder was obtained by extraction from Emblica officinalis fruit. In this process, the finely pulped fruit was treated with a dilute aqueous salt solution at hot water temperature to provide an extract-containing solution, which was filtered and dried to provide the desired antioxidant blend powder. Cosmetic, pharmaceutical and nutritional use formulations thereof also are described.
Abstract: What is described herein is a crosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVPP) copolymer of vinyl pyrrolidone (VP) and monomer derived from 1-vinyl-3-(E)-ethylidene pyrrolidone (EVP).

Abstract: A composition is provided herein for preventing or retarding the formation of gas hydrates or for reducing the tendency of gas hydrates to agglomerate, during the transport of a fluid comprising water and a hydrocarbon, through a conduit. The composition is a homopolymer of vinyl caprolactam having the low molecular weight in the range of 500 to 2500, or copolymers thereof, in a defined solvent. Such homopolymers and copolymers preferably are made and applied in the defined solvent, which, most preferably, is a glycol ether such as 2-butoxyethanol.

Abstract: A process is described for making substantially homogeneous copolymers comprising 20-99% of vinyl pyrrolidone (VP) and 1-80% of N-3,3-dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide, (DMAPMA), preferably 50-95% VP and 5-50% DMAPMA, and, most preferably, about 80:20, by weight, having a weight average molecular weight of about 200,000 to 1,500,000, as a clear, low viscosity aqueous solution of the homogeneous copolymer, at a 5-20% solids level, preferably about 10-15%, by weight of the solution, having a viscosity of about 5,000 to 80,000 cps, preferably about 10,000 to 70,000 cps. The solution obtained herein has lower viscosity and better clarity, and provides hair care products with enhanced curl retention (hold), when compared to non-homogeneous copolymers of the same composition, or related existing commercial products.

Abstract: A composition for preventing or retarding the formation of gas hydrates or for reducing the tendency of gas hydrates to agglomerate, during the transport of a fluid comprising water and a hydrocarbon, through a conduit, comprising, (a) a polymer or copolymer selected from a terpolymer of vinyl pyrrolidone, vinyl caprolactam and an ammonium derivative monomer having from 6 to 12 carbon atoms, selected from the group consisting of dialkyl aminoalkyl methacrylamide, dialkyl dialkenyl ammonium halide and a dialkylamino alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, a copolymer of vinyl pyrrolidone and vinyl caprolactam, and a homopolymer of vinyl caprolactam, and (b) an alcohol containing three to five carbon atoms and one hydroxy group.
Abstract: This invention relates to a composition containing an active chemical and a particulate polysaccharide matrix having improved water dispersibility and dispersion stability in aqueous solutions by the incorporation of a copolymer of a N-vinyl lactam monomer and a hydrophobic comonomer. The improved properties of the matrix promotes its use as a dispersing agent in a wide variety of formulations where soil and skin substantivity or sustained release of the active chemical is required, as in pharmaceutical, pre- and post-emergent agrochemical and cosmetic formulations. The invention also pertains to the preparation and use of formulations based on the use of polysaccharide/copolymer matrix of this invention.
