  • Patent number: 7889266
Abstract: In an AF camera having a two-stage capture button or a three-stage capture button, a timing control module or algorithm is used to control the type of image a user can obtain after the user presses and releases the capture button. The timing control allows the user to capture an image of the scene substantially as presented on the viewfinder when the automatic focusing algorithm carries out its focusing function, or to capture an image of a recomposed scene after the focusing function is completed. If the user releases the capture button before the automatic focusing algorithm finishes its focusing function, the image obtained is the image focused at the hyperfocal distance.

  • Patent number: 7889689
Abstract: The invention relates to switching between a point-to-multipoint channel and a point-to-point channel for transmitting multicast data from a mobile communication network to a mobile station. According to a first aspect of the invention, the mobile station determines the link quality of a point-to-multipoint channel employed for the transmission and requests from the network a switch to a point-to-point channel in case the determined link quality is too low. According to a second aspect of the invention, the network estimates the link quality of a point-to-multipoint channel while using at least a point-to-point channel for the transmission of multicast data, and orders the mobile station to switch to this point-to-multipoint channel, in case the estimated link quality of the point-to-multipoint channel is sufficiently high.

  • Patent number: 7864117
Abstract: A microstrip patch antenna wherein the half-power beamwidths of two orthogonal polarizations can be widened or narrowed in desired frequency bands around its center frequency. The result is a wideband or multiband antenna with desired beamwidth characteristics. In particular, the antenna can be arranged to be singly-polarized, dual-polarized or circularly-polarized. Using at least two parasitic patches on each of the two opposing sides of a primary radiating patch, both E-plane (electric field) and H-plane (magnetic field) parasitic couplings can be simultaneously achieved. By introducing uneven current distribution along the patch principal axis, some sub-bands of the antenna pattern can be beam steered.
