  • Patent number: 6036348
Abstract: A luggage management system arranged so as to improve the efficiency of parcel collection, parcel examining and parcel delivery, to save the labor of operators, to accurately manage parcels, and to improve the efficiency and accuracy of parcel tracing operation is provided. When a parcel checker examining a parcel being conveyed depresses an "examine" switch, an examine result signal is transmitted from an examine part to an electronic tab through an antenna. When this signal is received by a loop antenna, an electronic tab control circuit is activated, and parcel information stored beforehand in a memory is modulated into a signal having a predetermined frequency to be transmitted from a transmitter to the exterior of the system through the loop antenna. This parcel information is received by the antenna, and the parcel information of each parcel is read in the examine part which carries out collation of data with that stored already for confirmation together with parcel sorting and management.

  • Patent number: 5874151
Abstract: Rigidifiable composites are formed by stitching a reinforced B-stage resin sheet stock to form a three-dimensional preform. The preform is subsequently rigidified by initiating final cure of the resin. Molded articles, inflatable and other structures, such as, tank, tunnel and sewer liners are some of the typical structures which can be formed by the methods of the invention. Control of thread count, thread tension and thread spacing can be used to consolidate multi-ply or layered preforms, which, upon cure, can have up to 90% of the load carrying capacity of compression molded fiber reinforced articles.

  • Patent number: H1843
Abstract: An optical sensor containing polarizing optical components measures fluorescence anisotropy of fluorescent dyes. The measurement involves the detection of vertical and horizontal components of fluorescent light. Using Glan-Taylor and Wollaston calcite polarizers, both vertical and horizontal components are collected by separate optical fibers and measured simultaneously using a two-channel photon counter. One application of this sensor is the measurement of molecular orientation during polymer processing. Two sensor head designs are described, one of which fits into the 1/2 inch instrumentation port in polymer processing machines. To carry out process monitoring, a fluorescent dye is mixed with a polymer resin at approximately 10 ppm by weight concentration. Dyes which have geometrical asymmetry in their molecular structure or are covalently bonded to the polymer molecule are usually used. The anisotropy measurement yields information about the orientation of the dye molecule in an oriented medium.

  • Patent number: H1875
Abstract: An electroacoustic transducer comprises a pair of active piezo electric membranes and a sleeve closed at its ends by the membranes to a form an enclosed rear volume of air. A case accomodates the assembly of sleeve and membranes and provides an enclosed front volume of air between its inner wall and the assembly. An opening in the case to the outside forms a sound pressure output. Each membrane comprises a sandwich of two active piezo layers on a substrate material. Very small thicknesses of the substrate and active piezo layers provides for a correct impedance match to the acoustic load in the ear when used in hearing aids.
