  • Patent number: 4081344
Abstract: In repairing by electrodeposition coating an end or top plate of an easy-open can along a score groove where the material metal has been exposed or along a deteriorated coated film chiefly on the reverse side of said end, a sine wave A. C. voltage is imparted as the bath voltage under the particular conditions, wherein the electric current of reverse direction is effectively utilized to effect penetration of the deteriorated coated part or removal of wax. In this case, special advantage can be obtained if an electrode made of the particular metal having an anodic oxidation film thereon is used.

  • Patent number: 4070873
Abstract: Method for knitting a sock, wherein for casting on the yarn the feeder is brought behind the knitting point, while the clamping means retaining the yarn end is before the knitting point as viewed in the direction of rotation of the needle cylinder, and after engagement of the knitting yarn by the first needles, the clamping means is moved to a yarn feeding position for knitting. After the first needle, one or a plurality of needles is brought into a position in which the yarn is not engaged at the knitting point, so that the yarn initially present between the feeder and the first needle is included in the fabric by the needles initially not engaging the yarn during the knitting of the subsequent courses.

  • Patent number: 4063229
Abstract: Sensor-emitter labels or tags containing a two-terminal nonlinear capacitor, e.g., a semiconductor diode, directly connected to antenna means are applied to articles for purpose of surveillance. A transmitter coupled to an antenna establishes an electromagnetic wave field above about 100 MHZ, and preferably about 915 MHZ, within a surveillance zone. Introduction of said label or tag into said zone causes reradiation of a different signal distinguishable from the signal produced by said transmitter and otherwise occupying said zone. Various embodiments are disclosed capable of reradiating a second harmonic signal. A receiver associated with said transmitter and tuned to the reradiated signal detects the presence of said label or tag and activates a signal or alarm. Various tracking arrangements between transmitter and receiver are disclosed for accommodating frequency drift in the transmitter.

  • Patent number: 4061526
Abstract: In a machine for sealing forwardly traveling cartons with adhering tape lapping folded stacked flaps as top and/or bottom closure means to prevent normally projecting tape applicator means from applying to such closure means of each carton excessive inward pressure which may cause such deflection thereof as to catch into and break back out an edge portion of the carton back end wall. Movable mounted tape applicator means is projectable into a defined path of forward travel of a folded stacked flap closure of an advancing carton for depression by the latter as it travels forwad thereover for application of tape to such forwadly traveling closure. Mechanism that is alternately projectable and depressible of the tape applicator means is located initially in the path of forward travel of each such carton for depressive manipulation of this projecting applicator means upon contact by the advancing carton.
