Abstract: A molded pad driver for use with floor maintenance machines including structure that defines a circular disc-like body, the body defining a driving surface that is abuttably engageable with a driven surface of a floor maintenance pad to which it is attached. The driving surface is at least partially defined by a plurality of sets of protrusions with each set of protrusions preferably consisting of a plurality of protruding members arranged in a circular patterns, such that each protruding member of a set is at a slightly different orientation with respect to all of the members of a set, as viewed from a plane parallel to a plane of the pad driver. Each protruding member preferably consists of an arrowhead member including a stanchion that extends axially from a base surface on the pad driver and terminates in an arcuate crossbar that extends generally laterally with respect to the rotational axis of the pad driver.
Abstract: A structure of solid material for use in making an investment casting mold and a method of making it are disclosed. The structure has a plurality of levels of spaced plates arranged such that in plan view the plates define a plurality of adjoining polygonal formations. The method includes solidifying portions of a body of liquid material to provide a first set of spaced plates, solidifying further portions at different levels to provide at least a second set of plates oriented transversely of plates of the first set. Adjacent sets are interconnected along side edges in essentially point connections.

Abstract: A pipe or tube clamp is disclosed. The clamp has two U-shaped elements fixed to a plate. A screw interposed between the plate and a clamping member supplies pressure to a pair of tubes to urge them together against reaction in the U-shaped members. The tubes may be either parallel or orthogonally arranged.
Abstract: A vacuum injection press including frame structure defining a sealable molding chamber having a least one access opening by which molded products are removed. Access to the chamber is controlled by a door assembly that is movable between opened and closed positions. Upper and lower bolsters mount first and second mold portions. The lower bolster is mounted for substantially vertical reciprocal movement towards and away from the upper, fixed bolster and a fluid pressure actuator is used to maintain clamping contact between the first and second mold portions when the lower bolster is moved into a clamped position with respect to the upper bolster. An injection molding unit is located outside of the chamber and provides molding compound to a cavity defined by the mold portions. Molding compound is delivered from the injection unit to the cavity defined by the mold portions via an injection nozzle forming part of the upper, fixed bolster.
Abstract: A method of filtering feed liquid including a photoresist substance comprises removing cations from the feed liquid using an ion exchange material. A fine particle filter filters the feed liquid and, in particular, removes dissolved solids from the feed liquid. The material is regenerated with a solution, e.g., a brine solution, which has a pH effective to avoid fouling of at least one of the filter and the ion exchange material. Another embodiment concerns a filtration apparatus including an ion exchange device containing the ion exchange material. A fine particle filtration device removes dissolved solids from the liquid. A device for regenerating the material includes a supply of the regenerating solution.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for implanting ions into a workpiece surface. A concentration of ions is produced. An optical analysis of the concentration of ions is performed and recorded. The constituency of the ion concentration is determined by comparing the optical analysis data with a database of records on a storage medium wherein the optical analysis data for given concentrations of ions have been stored for subsequent access. Ions from the ion concentration are caused to impact a workpiece surface. The dose of ions implanted into the workpiece is measured. Implantation of the workpiece is stopped once an appropriate dose has been reached.

Abstract: A brake system for a vehicle having a traction control or anti-spin function for controlling wheel slip on differentially driven wheels of a vehicle. The system includes left and right fluid pressure operated brake mechanisms associated with left and right driven wheels of the vehicle. First and second brake valves control the communication of fluid pressure to the left and right brake mechanisms. In normal operation, an operator actuatable treadle concurrently operates both valves to simultaneously apply fluid pressure to the brake mechanisms as a function of treadle depression. Each brake valve includes a pilot pressure operated section for actuating a main fluid control section. Wheel speed sensors associated with the left and right driven wheels continuously monitor the rotational speed of the wheels.
Abstract: A composition and method for attenuating the desire for alcohol in a mammal comprising administering to such mammal in need thereof, an amount effective to attenuate the desire for alcohol of a material comprising histidyl-proline diketopiperazine and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier thereof.
Abstract: An inlet conveyor for conveying tires through a tire uniformity testing system includes a tire centering mechanism and a pair of conveyor belts for delivering tires to a tire testing station. A fixed conveyor having rollers on which tires can easily slide is secured to a frame that supports the centering mechanism. The conveyor belts are reeved around respective pulleys and are supported by support rails fixed to and extending away from the centering mechanism in cantilever fashion. A conveyor elevator is raised or lowered with respect to the frame unit to raise or lower the support rails and conveyor belts to either engage or disengage a tire resting on the fixed conveyor. The support rails and conveyor belts are adjustable in a lateral direction to vary the width of the space between the belts to accommodate different size tires. The conveyor belts are advanced by a rotary pneumatic actuator that precisely controls the distance the belts move to position the tire with respect to the testing station.

Abstract: A method for producing inflated dunnage on the site of use, comprising providing, in web form, a plurality of preformed plastic bags, each of the bags comprising two plastic sheets in facing relationship and sealed along three edges with one edge remaining open. Air is blown toward each of the open edges in sequence, causing each bag to inflate, and the open edge of each inflated bag is sealed, the bag being empty except for the air. A plurality of sealed inflated bags is separated from the web and placed in a carton to serve as dunnage. The bags have a slip resistant outer surface which causes the bags to interlock in the carton and better protect object therein from shock.
