  • Patent number: 5378557
Abstract: In a film type battery comprising a generating element which is formed by laminating a negative active material, an electrolyte and a positive active material into a layer shape, (1, 2, 3), terminal plates (5, 6) which are installed on and under the generating element and serve also as a current collector and a container, and a frame-shaped sealing material (4) which is installed on peripheral edges of the terminal plates, seals the generating element in between the both terminal plates and insulates one terminal plate from the other; the sealing material is improved. For example, the sealing material is formed into a vertical-type multi-layer structure, in which at least one layer is composed of a layer (41, 42) comprising metal and the other layer (43) is composed of an electric insulator. • Patent number: 5377061
Abstract: A tape cassette loading apparatus wherein various components can operate smoothly at suitable timings with a simple construction. A pivotal lever is pivoted at an initial stage when a tape cassette is inserted into a cassette holder, and a controlling member is moved a little forwardly by the pivotal lever. • Patent number: 5372844
Abstract: In the process of the invention, multi-component resins are applied to porous, granular materials intended for subsequent consolidation. Application is carried out by feeding the components, physically separated from each other, under relatively high pressure, to a mixing chamber, mixing them by turbulent means in the mixing chamber, and applying the resulting mixture, at relatively low pressure, as a thin curtain in laminar flow to the material. The simplest form of the device of the invention comprises: a) separate feed lines for the components at relatively high pressure; b) a mixing chamber preferably designed as a static mixer; c) a fan spray nozzle working at relatively low pressure. The process and device are used to increase the sound-absorption and/or ease-of-cleaning characteristics of a railway tracks, to increase the cross-sliding resistance of railway sleepers on ballast, and to smooth the transition between a soft and hard railway track.

  • Patent number: 5372572
Abstract: The knee orthesis appliance is made of carbon-fiber composite material with an integral Menshik linkover four bar chain (21) made of titanium. It provides the knee joint with secure and reliable support. Owing to its low weight, it is extremely comfortable to wear. The angle of bend (22) can be adjusted to suit the individual as prescribed by the doctor. The shells of the appliance are made from a positive plaster cast (1), using vacuum composite production techniques. This simple process enables the appliance to be manufactured to a high standard of quality in orthopaedic workshops. The joint plates (5,6) are inserted between the individual layers of the composite. Following filling and curing, the sidepieces (16,17) only have to be riveted to the joint plates to complete the four bar chains and hence the finished appliance.
