  • Patent number: 5056819
Abstract: The present invention includes a fastener strap comprised of a length of fabric having end sections which can be fastened together to create a loop. Intermediate the end sections on the interior surface of the loop, there is a fastener affixed thereto. This intermediate fastener cooperates with corresponding fasteners which are affixed to ski poles or other articles to be supported. The size of the loop is such that the mounting of the poles onto the intermediate fastener leaves a loop of material remaining which can be utilized as a hook or a handle to otherwise support or carry the poles in the fastener strap of the invention.

  • Patent number: 5058088
Abstract: A time indicator is provided which includes a first substrate having first and second surfaces and at least two indicia areas on the first surface. A second substrate having first and second surfaces is also provided. A first chemical agent is provided on each of the indicia areas and a second chemical agent is provided on the first surface of the second substrate. The first surfaces of each substrate overlay and are in contact with each other, the chemical agents coacting to cause a visually perceptible change at one of the second surfaces overlaying the first indicia area in a first selected time interval and a visually perceptible change in said second surface overlaying the second indicia area in a second selected time interval, the first selected time interval differing from the second selected time interval.

  • Patent number: 5033411
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bird feeder which is combined with a container for the bird food. The birdfeed container makes use of a spout, such as may be employed with the common salt dispenser, the spout being mounted for insertion and removal of the "bottom" of the bird food container. The container may take the form of a closed container, such as normally found in the familiar salt dispenser. The bird feeder has a basin which is disposed vertically below the spout. The basin is connected to the bird food container. Flow of bird food from the spout to the basin is stopped automatically by the bird food when the bird food reaches a selected level. A perch in the form of a dowel or stick is passed through holes in the wings of the spout to provide a perch for the feeding bird.

  • Patent number: 5029496
Abstract: A hammer, for use in absorbing some of the reaction force upon impact, is provided. This hammer included a head and a handle and a connector therebetween. The connector has a hinge and has a spring member. The hinge has a pair of spaced plates fixedly connected to the handle and has a center plate disposed between the pairs of spaced plates and fixedly connected to the head. A hinge pin passes through three respective holes in the three plates. The spring member is a collar composed of a urethane material. The collar encloses the hinge and fits snugly between a flange on the head and a flange on the handle, so that bending of the collar causes a compression force on one side of the collar. The hinge has stop surfaces for limiting tilting of the head in one rotary direction about the hinge pin. The hinge allows tilting in an opposite rotary direction about the hinge pin, and allows compression of the collar. A second embodiment has a spring member which is a bent wire spring member.

  • Patent number: 5024473
Abstract: A gate locking device for a fence which includes a security box having a mounting plate affixed within the box. The security box is mounted to a pole of the fence. An oarlock is hingeably mounted within the security box. The oarlock is capable of movement between an unlocked position and a locked position. In the locked position the oarlock engages another pole of the fence. A dead bolt is securely affixed to the mounting plate within the security box and is movable between an extended and unextended position. The dead bolt is disposed in mechanical relation to the heel plate of the oarlock so that when the dead bolt is moved to the extended position it substantially prevents the pivotal movement of the oarlock. A barrel lock is mounted to the security box and mechanically connected and adapted to the dead bolt for moving it between the extended and unextended position.

  • Patent number: 5022954
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for sequentially applying a label to a surface of each of a plurality of containers comprising an indexing table having means for removably holding a plurality of containers and sequentially conveying each container to a label applying station; means for feeding a continuous web to the label applying station, said web having a plurality of labels removably disposed thereon, each label having a surface with an adhesive thereon; means for removing a label from the web at the label applying station and depositing the label, adhesive side exposed, to a label receiving station; means for positioning the label receiving station to position the label parallel to the surface of the container to which the label is to be applied; means for positioning the label in contact with the surface of the container enabling the adhesive surface to adhere to the container surface; and means for repositioning the label receiving station to permit the depositing of another label from the web t

  • Patent number: 5011540
Abstract: Cleaning solvent is sprayed about the periphery of the air intake of a gas turbine engine in that area of the intake where the air speed is turbulent and relatively slow. The pattern of spray is created by a plurality of nozzles uniformly spaced about the periphery of the air intake. The nozzles each have a spray pattern of a fan shape at an angle of 90.degree. respecting the exit aperture of the nozzle. The spray cloud thus created in the area of low speed relatively turbulent air before the compressor of the engine creates a uniform intake of cleaning fluid into the engine when the engine is operated at or near full speed and at or near full load. The 90.degree. fan shape pattern at the nozzle aperture narrows to 60.degree. when the engine reaches operating speed and load.

  • Patent number: 5009015
Abstract: A pair of flat plates with two rectangular sides provide corner pieces which fit over the top edges of bricks at opposite ends of a structure. Each plate includes a raised tab and extending finger which receive a line or string to be held taut between the two end pieces. The string serves as a linear guide for laying bricks in a straight line between the two ends. The device provides a simplified tool which saves time and effort in achieving the desired linear brick construction.

  • Patent number: 5007619
Abstract: A chain link fence assembly is provided. This assembly includes a chain link wire fencing, a bottom horizontal channel, and a top horizontal channel. The assembly also includes a plurality of slats, which have lock tabs at the bottom ends thereof. The bottom channel has a web, which has a plurality of spaced cutouts, that receive the respective lock tabs. Each slat, which can be a vertical slat or a diagonal slat, has a central tubular portion, a left edge fin portion and a right edge fin portion. The lock tab, which is an extension of the slat tubular portion, has opposite edge recesses, which receive the opposite edges of its cutout, and has opposite projections, which hook behind the opposite edges of its cutout.

  • Patent number: 5006193
Abstract: An automatic clamp tightener utilizes an air driven rotating tightener which is suspended on a plate. The plate is caused to slidably move inwardly towards the clamp to be tightened and to be withdrawn therefrom. A laterally movable carriage supports the tightener and the suspension plate. The tightener employs mechanic stops for end-left and end-right of the carriage to limit motion of the carriage. The motor driving the carriage bearing the suspended tightener may be either a stepping motor or a servo motor. The air driven tightener is powered to open or tighten a clamp for either a predetermined period of time or until a predetermined tension or strain is sensed in the clamp.

  • Patent number: 5003902
Abstract: A liquid proof seam construction is provided. A double needle flat-felled seam is constructed having a melt adhesive polymer film disposed within the seam. The seam is then passed through a hot air/pressure device which melts the film and compresses the seam. This forms a liquid, e.g. waterproof, bond between adjacent layers of material and also fills up any area around the stitching formed by needle holes.
