  • Patent number: 4541422
Abstract: An improved functional attachment system for osteosynthesis of the type having transfixion studs inserted into fractured bone fragments, holding means cooperating with the studs and telescopic bars cooperating with the holding means for anchoring fragments on each side of the fracture. The improvements comprise constructing a spearhead configuration on one end of the stud with the base of the spearhead being wider than the stud shaft diameter. In one embodiment, the holding means is articulated joints with jaws for attaching the telescopic bars and the studs thereto. The means for holding the telescopic bars is a pair of opposed plates which rotate in the concave cavity of the circular housing. Each plate has opposing elongated holes in which are attached a pair of opposing disks having diametrically opposed channels adapted for receipt of a telescopic bar. Screw means draws the plates and disks together for rigidly positioning a telescopic bar.

  • Patent number: 4530647
Abstract: A fluid pump comprising a pump body and a roller holder having tapered rollers, the axes of which converge on an axis of rotation of the roller holder. A head case of the pump may be integrally formed with or support a pump tube or tubes. In any event, the lower half of the head case has a tapered surface which is complementary with respect to an envelope defined by an outer periphery of the tapered rollers. The head case is easily and removably attached to the pump body from the front side so that the head case with the pump tube or tubes can be simply and quickly replaced. Alignment between the pump body and the roller holder which supports the tapered rollers can be very accurately maintained to increase the reliability of the fluid pump by rotating the adjustable retainer.

  • Patent number: 4526541
Abstract: An instrument for the treatment of interdental surfaces is disclosed. The instrument is adapted for attachment to a bored, reciprocable holder of a driven dental tool which includes a fluid supply conduit in communication with the tool holder. The dental instrument has a flexible blade (3) having at least one diamond abrasive surface (4) bonded thereto. The instrument also has a pair of mutually opposed, bowed ears (2a) attached to the blade adapted for biased insertion into the bored holder so as to secure retention within the holder. The pair of mutually opposed bowed ears also defines a channel therebetween for fluid communication from the holder fluid supply conduit to the abrasive surface.

  • Patent number: 4524765
Abstract: An improved functional attachment system for osteosynthesis by means of compression plates. The plates have straight or angled construction and a major axis for placement approximately parallel to the major axis of a bone. The plate defines holes in the areas of both ends; the holes are elongated in a direction approximately parallel to the plate's major axis and are adapted for receipt and passage of anchoring screws for attachment to a bone. Once the compression plate is attached to a fractured bone by means of anchoring screws passing through the holes, the screws can slide the length of the elongated holes such that muscular contraction will be converted into a compression at the bone fracture.

  • Patent number: 4524551
Abstract: The set of construction units comprises a standard stone, a long stone and a trough stone having a substantially trapezoidal end view, a surrounding groove at the side with the broader base line, on both sides of the surrounding groove a longitudinal slot and at the side with the smaller base line, opposite to each of the longitudinal slots a longitudinal rib. The long stone has dimensions approximately twice as high and about three times as long as the standard stone. Both the standard and long stones have in the surrounding groove a surrounding bead, permitting the stones to be split in half. They also have five holes for making the stones lighter and for permitting these stones to be connected together with reinforced concrete so that they can be utilized as lintels. The trough stone is also twice as high and about three times as long as the standard stone. The closure stone comprises a surrounding bead as well as longitudinal slots.

  • Patent number: 4518155
Abstract: The device comprises a generally L-shaped angle plate or base plate bearing a first jaw on the shorter leg of the "L", fixing plates and a slider capable of being shifted along the base plate and bearing a second jaw. The base plate is fixed at three points to fixing plates and is adjustable with respect to the fixing plates by means of vertical adjusting screws mounted in the base plate and acting upon supports movably resting against the fixing plates. Side or lateral adjusting screws acting against a pin attached to one of the fixing plates permit the base plate to effect a limited angular displacement about a ball disposed in the region of the base plate defined by the intersection of the legs of the "L". The device permits an accurate positioning and orientation of a workpiece relative to the wire of a spark erosion machine and to the direction of this wire in its working position.

  • Patent number: 4509023
Abstract: A method of using the temperature coefficient of the copper resistance of an oscillating coil to compensate for the temperature coefficient of the quality factor of the same oscillating coil. To this end, a voltage proportional to the copper resistance of the oscillating coil is generated across the oscillating circuit. The oscillator according to the process comprises an oscillating coil which comprises a high frequency litz wire. In order to access the copper resistance of the coil one of the litz wires is separated from the other wire at a first terminal of the coil and separately connected to a second terminal of this coil. From this second terminal, the coil is seen as a bifilar coil. A constant alternating current source is connected to the second terminal in order to generates across the oscillating circuit a voltage proportional to the copper resistance of the coil. The oscillator is preferably used for proximity switches having relatively large switching distance.

  • Patent number: 4507611
Abstract: A method for locating and evaluating surface and subsurface anomalies. Solar wind results in a multi-frequency, high energy ionic impingement at the terrestrial poles of the earth. Monitoring the activity of the solar wind allows the determination as to when the activity produces a vertical alternating current leakage (solar alternating current) due to the ionic impingement. When the vertical current leakage is in a proper range which can be measured and which reflects and represents surface and subterranean anomalies, a predetermined region of the earth to be prospected is traversed. Local variations which occur in the amplitude, frequency and frequency modulation of the vertical alternating current leakage due to the ionic impingement of solar winds at the terrestrial poles (solar alternating current) is measured. The measurements are recorded in correlation with the spatial relation to the points of measurement to determine significant measurements indicative of surface and subterranean anomalies.
