  • Patent number: 6220071
Abstract: Strip edge relief is adjusted in a twenty-high cluster rolling mill by a set of double-tapered intermediate rolls in contact with the work roll. Rolling forces bend the work roll ends toward the tapered sections of the intermediate rolls to provide strip edge relief. Hydraulic actuators rotatably contact journals on the intermediate rolls and exert bending forces bending forces which bend the intermediate rolls so as to bending in the work rolls. This adjusts the strip edge relief.

  • Patent number: 6215789
Abstract: An Ethernet Local Area Network uses a star topology connecting user stations to a Communications Switching Module (CSM) with 10Base-T or 100 Base-TX UTP cable. Each user station typically has a digital telephone and a data communication device, such as a PC communicating with the CSM through a common UTE adapter. Delay-sensitive digital voice signals and non-delay sensitive user data are transported in master Ethernet packets of fixed length transmitted at a fixed rate. Segmentation and re-assembly of data is performed in the UTE adapters and in the CSM.

  • Patent number: 6205704
Abstract: An environmentally controlled greenhouse is located near a landfill site and uses the landfill gas to both heat the greenhouse and furnish a clean carbon dioxide enriched product gas to enhance plant growth. The clean CO2 system product gas is used to regenerate adsorber beds which remove undesirable constituents from the landfill gas. A portion of the landfill gas may also power an extraction steam turbine which heats the greenhouse with extraction steam. The system is controlled to enhance plant growth by adjusting the temperature and CO2 levels.

  • Patent number: 6208740
Abstract: A stereophonic magnetic induction sound system is disclosed which has an audio source, two ear pieces, each having an inductive pick-up coil, and a magnetic induction transmitter connected to the audio source and capable of transmitting different signals to the pick-up coils in the two ear pieces. The transmitter may have two or more antennas, a first conductor for transmitting one signal to one of the antennas, a second conductor for transmitting a different signal to the other antenna, and grounds connected to each antenna. The antennas are comprised of a core with a wires coiled about the core and are shaped and positioned on a user's neck to, at least partially, selectively transmit their respect signals toward a particular, near-by pick-up coil. A connector or stereophonic jack is used to connect the transmitter to an audio source, and a supporting member secures the antennas around a user's neck and restricts movement of the antennas relative to the neck.

  • Patent number: 6170792
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a presentation easel which serves as a foundation for a robust, modular, presentation system. In addition, the presentation easel is highly customizable to a wide variety of customer needs and desires. In an exemplary embodiment, the presentation easel comprises a rectangular frame including first and second horizontal support members and first and second vertical support members, which are all preferably formed of rectangular metal tubes. A fabric shell is provided around the frame and includes an openable side to permit access to a cavity formed between the fabric shell. The cavity is intended to provide a convenient and easy storage area where presentation materials, including relatively large presentation writing pads, may be stored. One surface of the fabric shell is used as a presentation surface to locate and place presentation material and the like.
