    Abstract: Improved polyphthalamide compositions, particularly for injection molding applications, comprise a polyphthalamide component with at least two recurring units selected from terephthalamide, isophthalamide and adipamide units and having high heat deflection temperature when filled with glass fibers; reinforcing fibers; and effective amounts of particulate talc. Molded articles prepared from such compositions exhibit excellent mechanical and thermal properties, including high heat deflection temperature, even when molded using molds heated below Tg of the polyphthalamide component, often facilitating molding using steam or hot water-heated molds.

    Abstract: A process and catalyust are provided for hydrogenation of a hydrocarbon feedstock consisting essentially of material boiling between about 150.degree. F. and about 700.degree. F. which comprises reacting the feedstock with hydrogen at hydrogenation conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprising from about 0.1% to about 2.0% by weight each of palladium and platinum and a support comprising mordenite. The process of the present invention provides substantially improved dearomatization performance, increased desulfurization and denitrogenation, increased distillate product cetane number, increased distllate volume expansion, and utilizes a more durable catalyst.

The layer is useful as a corrosion barrier and for repairing metal substrates.

    Abstract: The invention comprises a method for the production of insulating styrenic foams comprising use of a blowing agent comprising a C.sub.4 -C.sub.5 alkane, CO.sub.2 and a halogenated ethane selected from the group consisting of 1,1,1-trifuluoroethane, 1-chloro-1, 1-difluoroethane and 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane and mixtures thereof, wherein the halogenated ethane amount is less than 70.0 wt. % of the total blowing agent weight. The invention further comprises the styrenic foams made using the blowing agent composition and a paraffin wax. The method of the invention advantageously eliminates ethylchloride from styrenic foam production methods while limiting use of the halogenated ethane to minimum amounts suitable to produce foams with good insulative properties.

    Abstract: This invention pertains to novel copolyesters consisting essentially of units (I), (II), (III), and (IV). ##STR1## and blends of these polymers and articles made from both. Units (I), (II), (III), and (IV) are present in specified proportions as defined in the "Description of the Invention".The instant copolyesters display orientation in the molten state, good fiber ratings and high strength. Advantageously, the polymers of the present invention display a significant improvement in viscosity and moldability of the neat polymer. The polymers have excellent mechanical and surface properties including blister resistance, strength, toughness, and ability to vapor phase solder, and form strong fibers while still maintaining a high heat distortion temperature. They have melting points in the range of from about 250.degree. to about 360.degree. C. and are melt-processible. Advantageously, these compositions filled with about 30 weight percent of glass fibers display heat distortion temperatures of up to 240.degree.

The hydrogenation metals comprise from about 0.1 percent to about 2.0 percent by weight each of palladium and platinum calculated as a percnetage of the catalyst. The zeolite Y further comprises sodium in an amount ranging from about 1.5 to about 8.0 percent of the zeolite Y by weight. The process of the present invention provides substantially improved dearomatization performance, increased desulfurization and denitrogenation, increased distillate product cetane number, and increased distillate volume expansion.
