  • Patent number: 5864090
Abstract: A grounding device is provided for use with a coaxial cable. The grounding device includes a forked member which includes a channel into which a coaxial cable may be inserted to pierce the jacket of the coaxial cable so that the forked member engages the ground wire of the coaxial cable. A gate attached to the fork and bendable relative to the fork member is then bent at a fold line so that the gate closes the channel to sandwich the pierced coaxial cable between the gate member and the forked member. A method of using the grounding device is also described.

  • Patent number: 5861714
Abstract: This invention involves a new type of feedthrough-plug member for metal halide HID lamp using PCA envelopes. The construction of the lamp housing consists of a PCA envelope and specially designed axially graded alumina-metal cermet multi-layers to eliminate cracking in cermet or PCA due to thermal stresses arising from thermal expansion mismatch. The fills are metal halides such as Na--Sc--I, rare earth halides, Hg, Sn, and inert gases. The PCA vessel and directly sealed cermet-feedthrough assemblies allow the metal halide lamps to operate at high wall temperatures with better lumen output, color temperature, and CRI.

  • Patent number: 5834897
Abstract: An hermetically sealed arc tube 14 has a longitudinal axis 60 and contains therewithin an arc generating and sustaining medium, as is known. The ends of the arc tube 14 are sealed with press-seals 43. The seals comprise a substantially parallelepipodonal structure having oppositely disposed, planar sides 56 and 58. A molybdenum foil 50 is sealed in each of the press-seals and is substantially centrally located between the planar sides 56 and 58. An in-lead 52 is secured as by welding to an end of foil 50 and extends outwardly of the arc tube for electrical connection to a source and an electrode 46 is attached to the other end of foil 50 and projects into the arc chamber. A first rod-relief member 62 in the form of a projecting boss 64 is formed on one of the planar sides, for example, 58, and a second rod-relief member 66 in the form of a depression 68 is formed on the other of the planar sides, in this instance side 56.

  • Patent number: 5823814
Abstract: A connector module and a connector module kit which includes the components of the connector module, is provided. The connector module includes a first housing, a second housing and a connector positive assurance member. Insertion of the second housing into the first housing will cause a latching mechanism located within the assembled first and second housings to latch the housings together so that they can not be readily disengaged. When the first and second housings and contacts therein are fully engaged in this manner, the connector positive assurance member may be moved from a first position to a second position to assure complete engagement has been effected. If the first and second housings and contacts therein are not fully engaged, the connector positive assurance member can not be moved from such first position to such second position.

  • Patent number: 5788520
Abstract: A connector is provided which includes first and second insulative housings each of which includes first and second contacts, respectively, which may be electrically and mechanically connected and disconnected, in a connected mode and disconnected mode, respectively. The first insulative housing includes shorting bars which are spring biased into contact with the first contacts in the disconnected mode. The second insulative housing includes engagement posts which engage the shorting bars in a connected mode to disengage the shorting bars from the first contacts. An improved manner of mounting the shorting bars in the first insulative housing from the rear of such housing is provided. The shorting bars are firmly held in place by a primary retention and a secondary retention. The primary retention results from a press fit between a lower length of each shorting bar and a slot formed by opposing slot walls of the first insulative housing.
