Patent number: 4189987Abstract: This improvement of a vehicle cab temperature control system for a cab having an operator enclosure with a roof and an outwardly exposed air filter attached to the roof includes a blower and a temperature control unit mounted within a duct which is secured to both the roof and to the air filter. The duct is spaced apart from the roof, thereby forming a chamber which receives controlled air from the temperature control unit. The flow of controlled air is produced by the blower as it moves the air through the air filter into the duct through its inlet aperture and then through the temperature control unit within the duct. The controlled air then exits the duct through either the duct's bleed aperture into the chamber or through the duct's outlet aperture into the operator enclosure.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1978Date of Patent: February 26, 1980Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventors: Arthur A. Patent number: 4138907Abstract: The operational speed of a fluid drive unit in a hydromechanical transmission is limited by means of an overspeed preventing, one-way clutch establishing a positive drive connection between torque transmitting elements of the hydromechanical transmission. Two power paths are established between the planetary gear unit and the input shaft of the transmission to drive an output shaft at a variable drive ratio controlled by a variable displacement type of fluid drive unit. One of the power paths is established through fixed ratio gearing while the other power path is established through the fluid drive units while operating within a speed ratio range limited by the one-way clutch.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1977Date of Patent: February 13, 1979Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventor: Harold W. Melles

Patent number: 4060157Abstract: A vehicle control mechanism for manipulating three controllable members through one control handle. The control mechanism includes a support rigidly attached to the vehicle. The support rotatably carries three control assemblies which are operably connected to one of each of the three controllable members. The control mechanism also includes a drive assembly rotatably carried by the first and third control assemblies first, second and third control assemblies and the support have force selectively transmitted therebetween by a roller which is contained in the control assembly by roller retainers of the support. The force which manipulates the controllable members is derived from the operator selectively pivoting the handle about the third control assembly. To manipulate the various control assemblies the operator will either pivot the handle to engage the handle and the dive assembly or pivot the handle to engage the handle and the second control assembly.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1976Date of Patent: November 29, 1977Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventor: Thomas P. Hillstrom

Patent number: 3985196Abstract: A safety start system for lawn and garden equipment in which a single safety switch completes the starting circuit of the power source by responding to the disengaged condition of both the main clutch and the implement clutch of the machine. The starting circuit is completed in direct response to the operator's moving the implement clutch handle to its disengaged position thereby permitting a resilient actuating member to close a safety switch and complete the circuit. The circuit is interrupted upon his engagement of the main clutch through a release of the clutch pedal which changes the deflection point of the resilient actuating member from the safety switch to linkage which is connected to the clutch pedal mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1974Date of Patent: October 12, 1976Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventor: Joseph P.
