Abstract: According to the invention, a trough (1) in an automatic feeder is configured so that it comprises a raised dry-feed part (2) on which the dry-feed (3) is led out and from which the pigs can eat, and with a wet-feed chamber (4) adjoining hereto where the surplus dry-feed (3) is collected, and finally with a water chamber (5) in connection herewith from which water (7) can run into the wet-feed chamber (4) and here soften the dry-feed for the formation of the wet-feed (8). In this way, the pigs are provided with easy access to both the dry-feed (3), the wet-feed (8) as well as clean drinking water in one and the same trough (1). This ensures a calm feeding situation, in that the animals have free access to said feed-stuffs and water, whereby good growth and good living conditions are achieved.
Abstract: A substantially flat television display comprises, in accordance with the present invention, a plurality of superluminescent or laser diodes which are mounted to a substrate or carrier for spacing in a planar array. A protective sheet covers the diodes and is connected to the substrate or carrier, while energization componentry is operatively connected to the diodes for energizing the diodes in accordance with an incoming video signal to reproduce an image embodied in the video signal. In a color television or video display, the superluminescent or laser diodes are tuned to different frequency ranges, so as to reproduce the image in color.
Abstract: The objects of the present invention are to improve the fan efficiency by the decrease of the shaft power of a fan and/or the increase of the pressure rise owing to a fan impeller, which are accomplished by the rational control of the energy based on the tangential velocity of the prerotation flow generating at ‘the region ahead of an impeller’ inside the suction pipe of a fan, and to reduce fan noise by the improvement of air flow at the portion in close vicinity to an impeller inside the suction pipe. The present invention is related to a by-pass unit (5) disposed upstream an impeller to control the energy generated by the air flowing into the impeller (1), comprising a specific region of a suction pipe (2) as a part of the by-pass unit (5), an air chamber (3), through which the air is able to pass, forming a closed spatial region outside the suction pipe (2), and communicating passages (4) for connecting the closed spatial region to the suction pipe (2).
Abstract: An electromagnetic assembly includes a casing, a solenoid disposed inside the casing, a stationary magnetic core, and a movable magnetic core. The stationary magnetic core is disposed at least partially inside the solenoid and is fixed relative to the solenoid and the casing, while the movable magnetic core is disposed for reciprocation partially inside the solenoid along an axis. The stationary magnetic core, the movable magnetic core, the solenoid, and the casing have rectangular or square cross-sections in planes oriented essentially perpendicularly to the axis.

Abstract: In an apparatus for cold bending a metal sheet for making an elongated article with a predetermined pro-file, supports are provided to receive opposite ends of the sheet being formed. A form, whose cross section defines a predetermined profile, is operated perpendicularly with respect to its longitudinal axis, so as to clamp the sheet, resting on the supports, to a stop. Bending members are carried by two plates which are mounted for oscillating on a vertical plane transversal to the form, so that the bending members rotate around spindles parallel to the stop plate. The bending members are operated in time relation with a synchronous movement of the form and of the stop, so as to fold the two ends of the sheet piece over the form.
Abstract: An insert for a frying pan is designed to provide a warming or holding function to an existing cooking function for a conventional frying pan. An insert consists of a segment of material of an appropriate thermal conductance shaped to fit against an edge or lip of a conventional pan of a given diameter. The segment is covered with a non-stick surface to protect an existing pan cooking surface and provide the usual benefits of non-stick food preparation surfaces. The insert is provided with a combined handle and clip for attachment to a side wall of an existing pan, and easy removal of a heated insert covered with prepared foodstuff.
Abstract: An indicator device includes a support member formed by two coupled flat panels made of metal or synthetic material, a plurality of holes formed in the exposed panel according to the pattern of Braille writing according to the characters to be represented; the holes are engaged by pins made of synthetic material which is resistant to abrasion and to rubbing-induced wear, so that their dome-shaped rounded ends protrude from the exposed panel.
Abstract: A device for executing informatic procedures, including activities of end of day and/or data safety procedures, for data processing systems, includes at least one component for requesting the starting of data processing procedures. The device further includes a storing and processing component adapted to receive a procedure starting request signal output from the request component. The storing and processing component is adapted to command the procedures be automatically executed and to drive supply cut-off elements for automatically cutting off the supply to all or part of at least one of the data processing systems at the end of the procedures.
Abstract: In a method for improving cardiac function, a compressive device is inserted into an intrapericardial space about a lower end portion of a heart. Thereafter the compressive device is operated to compress and close off lower portions of both ventricles of the heart.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for determining the presence or absence of contaminating bacteria in a packaged food sample comprising storing food in a package having as a lining a hydrophilic polymeric composition, said composition preferably being permeable to water and at least one gas dissolved in water or water vapor and being selected from the group consisting of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen and ammonia gas and containing an indicator for detecting the presence or abscence of said gas; said indicator being polymerized or dispersed throughout said polymeric composition or coated onto a hydrophobic polymeric composition.

Abstract: A suppression system for a gas turbine engine uses a tapered exhaust manifold with a plurality of exhaust nozzles acting in conjunction with a plurality of mixing cells to produce cooling of an exhaust gas stream upon exit from an aircraft. The cooling air is supplied to the mixing cells in such a way that the walls of the cells are inherently maintained at a desired temperature without the use of dedicated cooling apparatus such as finned head exchangers, film cooling slots, etc. This approach allows the typically conflicting requirements of low IR signature and low radar cross section to be simultaneously satisfied in an efficient, light weight and low cost manner.

Abstract: Various liquid or low melting pesticide and herbicide formulations, previously formulated with organic solvents, are combined with a polymer in solution and co-precipitated to form a polymer complex which captures the pesticide or herbicide yet exists as a solid at ambient conditions. By preparing the pesticide or herbicide formulation as a solid complex, storage and handling of the formulation is possible without the potential for organic solvent emission. When the solid polymer complex is placed in water, a stable aqueous dispersion of the pesticide or herbicide is achieved as the polymer inhibits flocculation, with approximately 100% recovery of the pesticide or herbicide.
