  • Patent number: 4253219
Abstract: A well slip assembly including a support structure adapted to be placed on a well drilling rotary table and to turn therewith, a vertically movable slip suspending carrier structure, latch means for releasably retaining the carrier structure and slips in a lower active position relative to the support structure, and yielding means urging the carrier structure upwardly to a retracted position. The support structure is desirably formed separately from a slip bowl structure positionable in the rotary table. The carrier structure may be urged upwardly by fluid pressure type spring means, such as air springs, with an accumulator chamber for the pressure fluid system preferably being contained in or carried by the vertically movable slip carrier structure.

  • Patent number: 4250167
Abstract: An inert calcium deposit located beneath the surface of the skin is reduced by application to the outside of the skin of a composition comprising dimethyl sulfoxide and papain, the enzyme found in papaya. The dimethyl sulfoxide transports the enzyme through the skin toward the location of the inert calcium, minutely dissolves the inert calcium and through the natural body circulatory processes removes the liquified calcium from the area and purges it from the body. The dimethyl sulfoxide penetrates the body without disturbing normal body functions and the natural herbal enzyme papain then performs the function of dissolving inert calcium.

  • Patent number: 4243500
Abstract: A pressure sensitive adhesive is formed from a composition comprising mono-functional unsaturated acrylate ester monomer, essentially saturated tackifying resin polymer dissolved in the acrylate ester, non-crystallizing elastomeric material also dissolved in the acrylate ester, and an initiator responsive to ultraviolet light or other penetrating radiation such as electron beam, gamma or X-ray radiation. The composition is cured by subjection to ultraviolet light or other radiation, which causes the initiator to induce polymerization of both the acrylate ester and the non-crystallizing elastomeric material, apparently with co-polymerization therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4183546
Abstract: A skateboard having two pairs of large wheels supporting a board on which a user stands, with the board having a low central deck surface between the two pairs of wheels and raised front and rear portion above the wheels with upper surfaces higher than the central deck surface. Trucks are connected to the underside of the front and rear portions and project downwardly to mount the two pairs of wheels for swinging movement generally about two oppositely inclined axes. A handle post is detachably connectable to the board in either upwardly projecting or rearwardly projecting positions, and additional handles are mounted to the board for swinging movement between active and retracted positions. A brake mechanism is actuable by a manually operated unit through a flexible operating shaft assembly, and may be either held movably in a user's hand or connected to the board, desirably through one of the handles.

  • Patent number: 4181014
Abstract: Information is conducted upwardly from a location deep within a well by a transmitter which is located in the well and induces electrical currents in the surrounding earth formation. These currents are sensed at an upper location by readout equipment connected to two electrodes which are in electrical contact with the earth at spaced locations. One of the electrodes is at a subsurface location and is connected to the readout equipment by an insulated conductor. In offshore drilling situations, the specified subsurface electrode is at the very least located beneath the surface of the ocean or other body of water through which the well extends, and in most instances is preferably embedded within the earth formation under that body of water, and at a location spaced beneath the seabed.
