  • Patent number: 4060249
Abstract: A rod packing for stripping oil from a string of sucker rods as they are removed from the oil well, and including a pair of interfitting semicylindrical packing halves joinable to each other at a diametrical plane by pairs of mating protuberances and sockets. An axial bore is formed by mating semicylindrical grooves in the packing halves which are in registry when the packing halves are joined. Opposite ends of the axial bore communicate with frusto-conical recesses centered in the opposed planar ends of the joined semicylindrical packing halves, and each of the packing halves includes a pair of spaced, substantially parallel, chordally extending grooves in one of the planar ends thereof positioned to intersect the respective frusto-conical recess in that planar end, and to receive accumulated liquid therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4058019
Abstract: An improved unbalance vibration generator adapted to be driven at varying rotational speeds while maintaining a substantially constant exciting force throughout a range of rotational speeds. The generator includes an unbalance mass comprising first and second unbalance masses journaled for rotation and angularly offset from each other 180.degree. about the axis of rotation. The first unbalance mass is journaled on the axis of rotation and the second unbalance mass is radially movable in relation thereto. This radial movement is restrained by cam and spring means which provide predetermined non-linear restraint of the second unbalance mass relative to the first unbalance mass.

  • Patent number: 4055962
Abstract: A hydrogen-hydride absorption system comprising two reactor systems for chemically forming two hydride components, means for supplying heat to, and removing heat from, the component systems, means for partial thermal energy recovery from reactors in each of the systems, and means for conveying hydrogen between component reactor systems.A method for deriving refrigeration includes the steps of dehydriding the hydride of a first component reactor using a relatively low temperature thermal source and conveying the hydrogen to a second component reactor to be absorbed, and rejecting heat, decreasing the pressure of both component reactors along with partial heat recovery, supplying heat as a refrigeration load to dehydride the second component reactor and conveying the hydrogen to the first component reactor, and pressurizing both reactors through partial heat recovery and further heating.

  • Patent number: 4055856
Abstract: A toy halo comprising a flexible headband, a halo band and a supporting column interconnecting the headband and halo band. The headband, halo band and supporting column are an integrally formed, single piece unit. The invention also comprises a method of making the toy halo comprising bifurcating an elongated blank of flexible material by removing a strip from a central portion thereof to form two parallel legs joined at one end by a web; then folding the web upon itself along a line extending substantially normal to the longitudinal axis of the blank to form a triple thickness of the blank at the web; then securing the free ends of the legs to the web in its folded-upon-itself status to form the two bands.
