Abstract: A system and method for distributed fault detection. In an exemplary method, unplanned application exits and crashes may be detected at a node local level. Further, application hangs may be detected using at least one of a script and a binary at the node local level. Also, node crashes and operating system crashes may be detected using node to node heart-beating.

Abstract: A system and method of obtaining and storing a signed agreement authorizing the use of a user's biometric data for the purpose of offering legal consent to agreements and transactions with one or more operators. The present invention imparts a process by which merchants and other service providers can access a verifying agreement indicating a user's intent to submit biometric data as a substitute for a written signature and the user's consent to abide by the terms and conditions of any agreements entered into by the submission of biometric data.

Abstract: A frame extension device for the reduction of aerodynamic drag and for improved performance of bluff base ground vehicles by increasing the pressure on the base of the vehicle by stabilizing the wake flow. The device is particularly suited for tractor-trailers utilizing a roll-up type rear door in that it does not block any part of the door opening. The device may be of sufficient thickness to support the weight of an unloading device.

Abstract: The invention relates to an electronic short messaging and advertising method where minimal initiative is required from the consumer. Some embodiments of the invention may also be applied to an electronic sales method. The invention may also be applied for normal short messaging. The electronic short messaging method for collect calling may send transmissions to at least one subscriber terminal via the Internet and/or the telephony network. The method may include sending a first transmission to a recipient subscriber terminal for display, wherein the first transmission defines one or more active alternatives including at least one of initiating a collect call and deleting the first transmission. The method may also include calculating costs associated with at least one of the first transmission and the one or more active alternatives.

Abstract: A system for tracking a fleeing vehicle, using optional remote sensing to identify a payload contained in the vehicle or asset, and an optional device disabling the fleeing vehicle via disrupting the vehicle's onboard computer or electrical system. The system includes a tracking device or carrier containing tracking components, sensing equipment, and the vehicle disabling device. A launcher of the tracking device may be handheld or vehicle mounted, and may use high pressure gas or another propellant to launch the projectile at a fleeing vehicle. The electronics package may include tracking hardware, sensing hardware, and the vehicle disabling hardware. Once launched and affixed to the suspect vehicle or stationary target, the vehicle's location can be tracked while sensors detecting any trace elements of explosives, IED (Improvised Explosive Device) materials, WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction), biochemical materials, drugs, or any form of contraband can be monitored from a safe distance.

Abstract: A visual messaging system and device can employ high efficiency LEDs and current driven versus voltage driven circuits to reduce power consumption and enable the device to be powered from IEEE 802.3af (Power over Ethernet (PoE)) standard based power sources. The device can be powered from a local area network (LAN) connection using PoE, and does not require a separate AC power supply. The present invention also uses a 1× yellow algorithm to create the yellow color with one half the instantaneous current of previous circuits. The device can incorporate multiple message inputs for receiving and displaying messages having different priorities, allowing higher priority messages to override lower priority messages.

Abstract: A method, system and program product for group policy backup management in a network having a plurality of domains including components and modules for steps of retrieving a list of group policy objects for a domain, generating a configuration initialization file including a domains section identifying a plurality of domains that are to be backed up and a setup section specifying a plurality of values that control the backup of each policy object in each domain, determining a digital signature for each policy object on a list of policies for the domain, comparing the digital signature for each policy object with a corresponding previous digital signature for each policy, determining if a current digital signature for each policy object matches the corresponding previous digital signature for a policy, and backing up a policy object having a current digital signature that does not match the corresponding previous digital signature.

Abstract: The present invention includes a system and method for monitoring a user's pace and providing an indication of the user's average pace in conjunction with performing an activity. The method according to one embodiment of the present invention includes monitoring a user's pace relating to the performance of the activity and calculating pace data relating the user. In response to a first signal, the method stores the pace data and in response to a second signal retrieves the pace data. The method then calculates an assistance pace for the user over a defined time interval and transmits an output signal reflecting the assistance pace based the pace data, such as in the example of a golf club assisting in the swinging pace of the golf club.

Abstract: Tokenless biometric authorization of transaction between a consumer and a merchant uses an identicator and an access device. A consumer registers with the identicator a biometric sample taken from the consumer. The consumer and merchant establish communications via the access device. The merchant proposes a transaction to the consumer via the access device. The access device communicates to the merchant associated with the access device. After the consumer and merchant have agreed on the transaction, the consumer and the identicator use the access device to establish communications. The access device communicates to the identicator the code associated with the access device. The identicator compares biometric sample from the consumer with registered biometric sample. Upon successful identification, the identicator forwards information regarding the consumer to the merchant.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for detecting and enforcing compliance with access requirements for a computer system in a restricted computer network. A compliance validation configuration file is created for the computer system. A maintenance service utility is configured to launch a compliance validation executable file at a specified time during operation of the computer system. A digital hash is generated for the compliance validation executable file and for the compliance validation configuration file. A determination is made if the computer system or a computer system user is a member of a configured restricted group. If the computer system or the computer system user is a member of a configured restricted group, a determination is made if a directory site code for a subnet of the restricted computer network to which the computer system is connected corresponds to a configured and allowed site.

Abstract: A container device having a paint receptacle allows a user to easily access paint with a brush while working on a ladder. The container device includes one or more fixed brackets for attachment to a desired ladder rung and a pivotable bracket to stabilize the container device on a lower ladder rung. The paint receptacle maintains the paint in a convenient manner during use and includes an interior wipe board for removing excess paint from a paint brush and a brush clamp for storing a paint brush when not in use. A lid and handle are also included for tightly sealing any remaining paint therein during transportation and storage. A fabric cover having a series of pockets can be placed on the lower portion of the container device for carrying various painting tools and accessories.

The invention allows for the installation of the valve by sliding the valve over the supply tube/piping or pushing the tube/piping into the valve. Once connected, an o-ring seals the connection, a packing gland applies energy to the o-ring seal maintaining constant, even pressure across the seal, and a grip ring applies opposing energy to prevent the disconnection of the assembly. The quick connection assembly is retained by a retaining cap, which applies constant, positive force on the sealing surface.

Abstract: A method, system, and storage medium for collecting bandwidth data is provided. The method includes producing master and slave text files in response to simultaneous collection of data samples from a network device by servers. The method also includes generating a clean data file by sorting data in the master and slave text files by the network device port, sorting data samples for the port by collection time, and for each of the samples: adding a designated interval of time to a time on the network device resulting in a target network device time whereby the time on the network device corresponds to a time the data sample was collected, examining data samples in the master and slave text files corresponding to the time the respective data samples were collected, selecting from one of the master and slave text files the sample with a collection time most closely matching the target network device time, and storing the selected sample in the clean data file.

Abstract: The content-aware application switch and methods thereof intelligently switch client packets to one server among a group of servers in a server farm. The switch uses Layer 7 or application content parsed from a packet to help select the server and to schedule the transmitting of the packet to the server. This enables refined load-balancing and Quality of-Service control tailored to the application being switched. In another aspect of the invention, a slow-start server selection method assigned an initially boosted server load metric to a server newly added to the group of servers under load balancing. This alleviates the problem of the new server being swamped initially due to a very low load metric compared to that of others. In yet another aspect of the invention, a switching method dependent on Layer 7 content avoids delayed binding in a new TCP session. Layer 7 content is not available during the initial handshaking phase of a new TCP session.

Abstract: Administration protocols for a fusion protein, matrix protein and psoralen inactivated HIV based immunogenic composition that induces an immune response to HIV. The immunogenic compositions are based on HIV biologically active fusion peptide, matrix peptide, or psoralen inactivated HIV. The number of doses is 3X. The starting dose for an adult is 1x109-1x1010. The starting dose for an adolescent is ½(1x109-1x1010). The starting dose for a pediatric patient is ¼(1x109-1x1010). The second dose will consist of 1/10th of starting concentrations. The third dose will consist of 1/100th of starting concentrations. This will facilitate a Th-1 response. The days of administration are days 1; 30; and 180. Alternatively the days of administration are days 1; 20-40; and 160-200. The site of administration is one that targets lymphatic tissue. Adjuvant is administered before, simultaneous with or after each dose of the immunogenic compositions.
