  • Patent number: 4575791
Abstract: A method for restarting a tool on a workpiece contour in a numerically controlled processing machine of the type having a display unit for alphanumerical and/or graphical representation of processing information. After a program interruption, the program is executed anew in a control mode without machine movement from a predetermined starting point, and the resulting workpiece contour is continuously, graphically represented on the display unit. The operator utilizes this graphic display to determine an end point of the control mode program execution. The machine is then transferred into its axial positions and its function state to the program state of the end point, and the processing program with machine movements is continued from this end point, thereby starting the tool onto the desired tool path.

  • Patent number: 4573000
Abstract: In an incremental measuring instrument for measuring the relative position of two objects, of the type including reference marks absolutely positioned with respect to a graduation of a scale, a first scanning plate with scanning fields for the graduation is provided in a scanning unit which is shiftable on a guide independent of the guide of the objects to be measured. The second scanning plate is connected to the first scanning plate by means of a coupling which is rigid in the measuring direction. In this way the separation of the first and second scanning plates with respect to the scale can be adjusted independently for optimal scanning of both the graduation and the reference marks.

  • Patent number: 4570476
Abstract: A trailer mounted densitometer proving system includes three product tanks, each of which stores a respective petroleum product having a differing specific gravity. The product from any one of the three tanks is circulated via an electric pump through a pycnometer, a densitometer being proved, and a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger controls the temperature of the circulating product and a pressure control system controls the pressure of the circulating product. By comparing the pycnometer weight with the densitometer reading, the densitometer can be proved for a wide range of pressures, temperatures and products in order to determine the accuracy of the densitometer under actual working conditions.

  • Patent number: 4570346
Abstract: A length measuring instrument includes a flexible measuring band which slides in a groove defined by a scale carrier body. The measuring band is fixed at one end to the carrier body. The second, free end of the measuring band is fastened in an oscillator which excites this free end into high frequency, low amplitude vibrations. These vibrations act virtually to eliminate harmful friction between the measuring band and the scale carrier body, and to reduce fouling of the measuring band markedly.

  • Patent number: 4570884
Abstract: A mounting system for an additional communication cable on a utility pole is described. This mounting system includes a support arm which bolts to a through bolt that extends through the utility pole and is used to mount a pre-existing communication cable. A strand clamp is mounted to the outer end of the support arm, and the strand clamp serves to support a strand and a communication cable such as a CATV cable in the conventional manner. If desired, a diagonal reinforcing strap can be provided between the pole and the support arm. By using a single through bolt to mount both the strand clamp for the existing communication cable and the support arm, clearance and interference problems are minimized and installation costs are reduced.
