Abstract: A system and method is provided for coordinating network communication between multiple communication devices of a user. A communication session is established with an application. A message is received from the application and sent to one of a plurality of communication devices based at least on a status and an output capability of each of the plurality of communication devices.

Abstract: An error processing system comprising a client/server based PC application supported by SQL Server databases for use with legacy usage metering and billing services. The error processing system provides increased functionality, flexibility and reliability of error processing at a much lower cost than was possible using error processing and correction systems built into legacy usage metering systems. Error processing is simplified for users by implementation of a PC based GUI screens developed in Visual Basic.

Abstract: A method of measuring frequency interference between adjacent cell sites in a wireless telecommunications system. The method includes selecting a frequency in a cell site to be used as a beacon frequency. The method also includes activating the beacon frequency in the cell site and recording, at a telecommunications switch, a signal strength of the beacon frequency as measured by a first wireless device operating in the cell site and a signal strength of the beacon frequency as measured by a second wireless device operating in another cell site. The method further includes determining the frequency interference between the cell site and the other cell site based on the signal strengths.

Abstract: A covering for an aseptic treatment site is disclosed. An exemplary covering includes a substrate defining an aperture which permits selective access to an aseptic treatment site on a patient; and a transparent cover is borne by the substrate and which is removably affixed in substantially aseptic covering relation relative to the aperture.

Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for contacting users based on the completion of an online session, such as an Internet session. A user begins an online session by logging into an access provider, such as an Internet Service Provider. Upon completion of the online session, the access provider can store online session data that describes the online session. The online session data may include such information as the identity of the user (e.g., a phone number, an address, and so forth) and the time the online session ended. This online session data can be processed by a caller in order to identify users to call. The caller may be the access provider or a third party, such as a telemarketer. The online session data may be processed in various manners. The online session data may be compared to data of failed calls to identify users who could not be contacted before, but that may now available based on the completion of their online sessions.

Abstract: In an illustrative method for populating a database for use in automated administration of network elements, data that describes network elements in a telecommunication system is aggregated from existing systems. The aggregated data is formatted for loading into the telecommunication system. The formatting may include, for example, creating circuit data that identifies circuits, or groupings, that exist in the telecommunication system. The formatting may also comprise formatting network element data to conform to a new database format. Thereafter, the network element data is loaded into the new database. This step may comprise loading the circuit data and the network element data. Finally, the results of the load operation, including any error messages, are retrieved.

Abstract: A device, system and method is described for augmenting cellular telephone signals for a cellular telephone. In an exemplary embodiment, an audio signal device cellular is provided with a sound generating device that stores one or more audio signals that are activated upon receipt of a telephone call. Optionally, the audio signal device may store a library of audio signals that may be programmable and edited. The device, system and method of the present invention enables a user to choose audio alert sounds beyond the scope of those provided by the manufacturer of a cellular telephone.

Abstract: An apparatus for allowing a calling party to initiate a telephone call from an Internet-enabled device. The apparatus includes a server for receiving an originating telephone number and a destination telephone number in response to a command from the Internet-enabled device, for generating a call request, and for transmitting the request to a telecommunications network to request the network to establish a connection between the originating telephone number and the destination telephone number.

Abstract: A communications network-based system and service is disclosed. The service permits subscribers to control and manage incoming telephone calls. Subscribers can establish preferences and set encumbrances. The service also connects calls to a called party otherwise prevented from receiving calls due to line encumbrances, permitting preselected or predesignated parties to by-pass line encumbrances.

Abstract: A system notifies a computing device of an incoming message. In the system, a message server is coupled to a data communications network for receiving the incoming message, and a communications system is coupled to the message server so that the message server can communicate to the communications system that the incoming message awaits retrieval by the computing device. A communications line is coupled to the communications system and to the computing device so that the communications system can signal the computing device over the communications line that the incoming message awaits retrieval by such computing device. The computing device is for receiving the aforementioned notification and retrieving the incoming message from the message server, and includes a communications device for coupling with the aforementioned communications line.

Abstract: A system and method for retaining institutional customer contact knowledge and experience is disclosed. The system and method permits multiple users to interact with a centralized database that retains customer contact information. The system and method allows multiple users to send information to the database. The database also makes the customer contact information available to multiple users. In another aspect of the invention, customer contact information can be used to measure the performance of a firm's employees.

Abstract: Various types of extendable support structures provide a lateral dimension that is defined by at least one lazy tong, and the longitudinal dimension is variable by extension and retraction of the at least one lazy tong. The extendable structure may include a plurality of adjacent and attached lazy tongs that are capable of supporting a significant load through the interconnection of the adjacent lazy tongs forming the structure. The extendable structure may be fully retracted to minimize the longitudinal dimension and thereby provide a compact structure, such as one that can be easily transported or stored. The extendable structure may be extended to a length as required for a particular purpose and limited to a maximum longitudinal dimension when the structure is being used to support a load. As such the various types of extendable support structures may be used in many scenarios, such as for providing a loading ramp, bridge, walkway, or working surface.

Abstract: A method for delivering a priority call waiting alert service to a telephone subscriber. An embodiment of the present invention may be implemented on an Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN). When a call intended the subscriber is received by a service switching point from a calling party while the telephone line is already engaged in a first communication between the subscriber and a third party, the calling party is solicited to supply a priority code. If the priority code is recognized by a service control point, a call waiting tone or a priority alert signal associated with the priority code is played to alert the subscriber that a priority call has been received.

Abstract: A system and method is described for informing an upstream NMS when any changes have occurred in an electronic system architecture through a notification listener. The listener receives signals from EMS and translates them into a readily relayable format and forwards the signals to the NMS.

Abstract: A secondary source of dispatch information is provided in the event of a failure of a primary source of dispatch information. The second source of dispatch information can be accessed electronically by service technicians in the field when the primary source of dispatch information fails so that service technicians do not have to contact operators in a central office to obtain the dispatch information. The secondary source of dispatch information can distribute the dispatch information in a number of ways including e-mail, web and other methods.

Abstract: In an illustrative method for populating a database for use in automated administration of network elements, data that describes network elements in a telecommunication system is aggregated from existing systems. The aggregated network element data is validated and inserted into a database. Finally, a log is generated for each database entry.

Abstract: A system and method for detecting and selectively preventing the forwarding of an electronic message, wherein the message is sent by a sender to a recipient, and wherein the message has a message body and a message header. The system comprises a wireless gateway in communication with an electronic mail client; a message database in communication with the gateway for storing a first message identifier associated with the electronic message; and a search module in communication with the message database for determining whether a second message identifier associated with a forwarded electronic message is contained in the message database and, if the message database contains the second message identifier, preventing forwarding of the forwarded message.

Abstract: A trouble ticket tracking system and method including a server in communication with an electronic network and a database for storing trouble tickets in communication with the server. A user computer is in communication with the network and has access, via a graphical user interface (GUI), to the server. The graphical user interface includes at least one screen which is operable to enter a new trouble ticket along with (i) a person responsible for resolving the ticket and (ii) a severity level for the trouble ticket, and to store the trouble ticket in the database. A paging system is also in communication with the server and when the severity level associated with a new trouble ticket is above a predetermined threshold, the server automatically initiates a call to the person responsible via the paging system.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for a user to access an intranet from within a systems interface to back-end legacy systems. A user logs a computer into a systems interface which permits access to back-end legacy systems. The computer accesses the systems interface over a wireline or a wireless communications network. Preferably, the systems interface is located on at least a first network address. Preferably, the systems interface includes a first server with middleware for managing the protocol interface, the first server being located at the first network address. Preferably, the systems interface includes a second server for receiving requests and generating legacy transactions. When the user is logged on, a client application for the systems interface is running on the computer. Next, the user launches a shared network software application, preferably a browser. The user may or may not minimize the client application, but the user remains logged-on.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for managing a prepaid wireless account for voice and data communications services. According to one embodiment the communications system, having a prepaid architecture for managing a plurality of prepaid wireless accounts for communication services, wherein each prepaid account is associated with a prepaid subscriber comprises a wireless network including a mobile switch, in communication with a wireless device, the wireless device for remotely managing at least one of the prepaid accounts. The communications system also comprises a wide area network including a prepaid account database for storing records assigned to subscribers of prepaid communications services; a prepaid application module for initializing and updating the prepaid accounts; a credit card transaction server, coupled to a credit card database, for checking available credit; and a prepaid server coupled to the prepaid account database and the prepaid application module.
