  • Patent number: 4152793
Abstract: An inner tank or reservoir is mounted in the conventional flush tank of a sanitary toilet or commode. The tank may be rectangular and have an open top and a closed bottom. An outlet in a vertical wall is closable by a buoyant sphere. The sphere may be free-floating and guided to the outlet by a cage. Alternatively the sphere may be lever-mounted and pivotable in and out of sealing contact with the outlet. A bellows operated from an air pump displaces the sphere from closed relationship to the outlet. Preferably the pump is exterior of the toilet flush tank and connected to the bellows by a flexible plastic conduit. The conventional tank is flushable in conventional manner from its outside handle and the capacity of the inner tank may be added to the water flow by the operation of the air pump.

  • Patent number: 4141587
Abstract: The seat has a base and a backrest with the backrest curving upwardly from the base. A pad of similar configuration is fixed to the base and the backrest. A pair of spaced leaf springs intervene between the pad and the seat in the zone where the base and backrest join. The seat is fastened to the cycle by means of a pierced post bracket. A longitudinal frame fixed to the seat base has spaced rails with pluralities of transversely aligned apertures in which a transverse rod may be selectively placed to locate the seat base with respect to the post bracket which is adapted to be secured to the seat post rising from the cycle frame. A forward clamp near the front end of the seat base clamps about a horizontal frame member of the cycle. The clamp restrains a strap secured in vertically spaced relationship to the bottom portion of the seat base. The strap adjustably restrains a forward portion of the post bracket.

  • Patent number: 4126864
Abstract: Horizontally spaced arcuate frame members are supported directly or indirectly from the tower which supports the antenna. The interval between the arcuate members is spanned by a wind-permeable cover such that the frames and the cover surround the upper portion of the antenna. Each frame member may be a complete circle or an arc of a circle. Supports such as beams join the frame members to the tower and the frame member structure is stabilized with adjustable ties connecting the frame members to the tower.

  • Patent number: 4101036
Abstract: A hollow support column raises from a floor pad and terminates in an adjustable shaft within the top of the column which in turn supports articulated ceiling thrust arms. The arms diverge from the axis of the column and are padded for contact with the ceiling. Preferably three arms are used and their articulation adapts to use near corners and vertical walls and against uneven ceilings. A lock collar positions the thrust arms above the column for compression fastening between the floor and ceiling. A plurality of fastener bands is fixed to the outside of the column. The bands are pierced to receive pairs of fastener pegs on each of a plurality of support arms which cantilever outwardly from the post.

  • Patent number: 4101756
Abstract: A stand for holding one or more heatable hair curlers or curling irons has a well or receptacle for each curling iron, each well having two contact poles connecting through normally open switches to a source of power to the stand. Each curling iron has a heating element thermally connected to a hair mandrel and electrically connected to separated electrical contact zones on the iron beyond a thermal insulating handle. The handle terminates remote from the mandrel in a reduced actuating tip that passes a restriction in a receptacle and moves a switch actuator to close the switches and supply current to the curling iron heating element, through the contact poles and contact zones. Removal of the iron from the stand closes the switches and no current flows.

  • Patent number: 4101005
Abstract: A vertically-oriented hydraulic cylinder has its piston rod attached to a pulpit or a lectern that is vertically guided as the piston is actuated. The hydraulic cylinder contains a column of oil in the cylinder between the piston and a supply line connected to the cylinder and coming from a water main such as a city domestic supply. An exhaust line off the supply line exhausts on the piston downstroke to a drain or sump. Each of the supply line and the exhaust line is controlled by a solenoid operating valve electrically connected to a manual switch. Preferably a limit switch located to be actuated at the bottom of the downward travel of the speaker's apparatus closes the exhaust valve before the oil-water interface in the cylinder reaches the cylinder outlet to the supply line. The supply entry of the cylinder may be baffled to reduce water turbulence to preserve the interface between water and oil in the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4095846
Abstract: A central hub which may contain a bearing or a bushing has a central radial web with reinforcing spokes on each side of the web. The web terminates in an outer rim. An inner rim slightly spaced from the outer rim extends from each side of the web and defines annular cavities on each side of the web. At arcuately spaced intervals in the web between the rims are small perforations. A tire is molded about the outer rim and extends into the annular cavities between the outer and inner rim and through the perforations to form a mechanically integral structure with the web and rims. Additionally thread guard discs or covers may shroud the space between the hub where it protrudes axially beyond the web and the inner face of the inner rim. The covers may be supported either by the bearings in the central bearing apertures of the hub or from the outer faces of the hub itself.

  • Patent number: 4092673
Abstract: The conventional chroma key television process is used to effect composite images by employing a master camera whose subject may be live action against a single hued background and a slave camera directed at a static background, such as a miniature set or a back-projection screen. The inventive process includes the steps of linking the master and slave cameras so that a sensing of the current flow in the actuating motors for panning, dollying, trucking or otherwise changing the master camera causes a scale-related like motion of the slave camera, each camera moving in proper ratio with respect to its subject. The slave camera image is fed to the conventional mixer and fills that portion of the composite image occupied by the single hued background of the master camera subject image. A time delay may slow transmission of the master camera to the mixer if it is found that the action or motion of the slave camera lags behind the like action or motion of the master camera.

  • Patent number: 4084658
Abstract: A two-piece outer casing encloses a volume with a central divider plate which extends the length of the casing. The two portions of the casing are bolted or otherwise clamped about the divider plate. Each half of the outer casing has angled inner ribs or diverters. The diverters in one casing extend at an opposite angle to the longitudinal axis of the central plate as do the diverters of the other outer casing. The inner edges of the diverter seal against the surface of the central plate. The transverse dimension of the central plate is less than the transverse dimension of the diverters and the outer casing such that an exchange aperture is defined between the central plate and the inner surface of the outer casing between adjacent pairs of diverters. The casing has an exhaust input port and an exhaust outlet port at opposite ends and opposite sides.

  • Patent number: 4077411
Abstract: Apparatus for aiding eye corneal tissue transplant including a "Teflon" base with a flat platform and a central semispherical post to which a ring or rings are spring-loaded to secure the donated corneal tissue from storage. The post has a fitting for receiving a liquid injector such as a hypodermic syringe and the fitting connects to a vertical conduit in the post that discharges at the top of the post beneath the position of the donor tissue on the post. Before the tissue is secured to the post a biologically harmless liquid is introduced into the conduit from the syringe to part the tissue from the post and protect the delicate underside or endothelium layer of the corneal tissue during the trephining of the transplant "button" from the secured donor tissue.
